Reptile Rescue. A place to find a new home for your reptiles, and to share stories of any animals that you have rescued and helped back to health.

Welcome! This a place to search for reptiles that are in need of a new home, and post any reptiles that you may have rescued due to conditions that are not beneficial for the animal, or post if you are unable to take care of your reptile for much longer.

My hope is to build this up so that no owners feel the need to let their reptiles die, or live in bad conditions because they cant find a forever home for their pet. As well as share uplifting stories about your rescue reptiles!

In the future, if this works, I will gladly get some more mods on board, but for now, it is myself doing this, in addition to my 3 jobs. I have a love for reptiles, so lets make this a safe and reliable sub to assist those in rehoming our pets.

Buying/rescuing a unique, young Leopard gecko!!

Looking to rescue a uniquely colored Leopard gecko! I'm a colorful person, and my wardrobe agrees. I'm not ashamed of it either. I love geckos, and I think a colorful, special and unique little girl would be just what I need as my forever companion til the end! I'm not the richest though, and can only pay up to $50.. I spent the rest on the habitat enclosure and lamps and terrain, food and etc. If anyone knows of/has a colorful, different Leopard gecko they aren't able to provide proper care too or just whatever, please hit me up! I live in Salem, Oregon. I can't TRAVEL far, but let ne know! (also any gecko with injuries/conditions hindering it, or things that make them unique from the rest, let me know. always happy to try and adopt a special baby :))

Need to rehome my 7yr old female RES. She is about 8 in along her carapace and will grow bigger. I am currently moving and cannot have her in my new apartment.

Tank is 75 gal w/ Fluval 206 filter, heat & UV lamps and dock. I will also give whatever filter media, food, suction vacuum and what ever seen in the first pic. The setup also comes with the cinder blocks and wood planks that hold the tank.

Bahaman anole who must’ve hatched off a plant I bought

Tried to find a home for this baby but no one can take him/her. So guess I’m learning how to care for a Bahaman anole. Any advice would be helpful. Got the tanks/uv bulb/heat elements/thermometer/hygrometer/substrate and flightless fruit flies. Hoping to give the best chance of survival I can

Re-Homing Pet Turtle

Hello, I rescued a red eared slider who had a shell rot and had never laid eggs until I placed her in an environment where she felt safe enough to lay her eggs however, I am unable to take good care of her anymore and I am too caught up in Long Island, NY life to be able to care for her the way she deserves. I want to rehome her but I read a lot about the turtle black market therefore, I cannot trust anyone. I am looking for a turtle rescue. I could use advice on how to best move forward while making such a decision about another living thing’s life.

Found this on FB

They're located in North AL, (US) not sure where in North, AL. I don't have the money to rescue the both of them. I'm guessing they're in a small tank, because someone asked about tank size in the comments, and OP replied but then deleted their comment after the other person said it was too small.

OP isn't responding to comments about rescue centers, or what tank size they're in. It also looks like one of them might be missing a foot. Was hoping someone here is close and could take them.

Thinking about rescuing

I've been thinking about a small rescue for a while, nothing big just a few at a time and nothing needing licensing yet, and I'm curious to see if anybody knows if I need any permits to get started in California. Any other input is also appreciated.

Took in a neglected snake, have questions

Hello, I took in a neglected ball python last week and I have questions about his condition and care. He is between 10 and 12 years old and and about 4½ feet long. His name is Monty.

He belonged to my father, who purchased him from a coworker about 2 years ago. My dad has been sick, so I came home for a bit to help him sort some things and found the snake in a really bad state. My dad said he hadn't been able to care for him much at all in the last year. He didn't remember the last time he was fed, couldn't tell me the last time he cleaned his water bowl (which was dry), and his tank was absolutely filthy. I immediately washed him and his tank, and got him fresh water, then took him home with me the following day. I was a vet tech for a few years in my 20's (Im mid 30s now), but have/had minimal experience with reptiles.

The first thing I did was feed him a small frozen (and properly thawed) rat, which was 6 days ago, and then I handled him for the first time since cleaninf him out the next evening to really check him out. I also replaced his heat pad and got him a lamp, which he did not have before. He ate a 2nd small rat with no issues the day before yesterday and seems content now. He is beginning to become a little more active.

His skin is saggy on his sides, which I expect is from the malnutrition and dehydration, but I am concerned about his eyes. They are dry and a little opaque, and one looks like it has a crack down the middle. I'm looking at specialty vets in my area since my regular vet doesn't do exotics, but I wanted to know if there was something I could do about this in the meantime. Is this leftover shed skin? He doesn't seem interested in soaking but he does rub his head against his hiding shell. He's currently living in a 70gal glass tank, and I have him in aspen shavings advertised for snakes on top of paper grocery bags. He was on newspaper before, but he was caked in it and I don't want that to happen again.

Any guidance on how to better care for him is appreciated! I'm googling too, but figured it would be good to check with reddit expertise.

Good news!!

Guys we could not be happier! We received a rescue who is rather bad off two days ago. She lost movement in her back legs. We truly expected the worst news, we thought that she was no longer going to be with us..we were sure it was a spinal injury…HOWEVER this girl has proven us wrong! She has SEVERE case of MBD and will probably never have motion in her legs again but we will take it! We are currently in the works of repurposing a 120g enclosure and working on a wheel chair design! I know so many of us would give up on her but we just can’t! Keep this girl in your thoughts, prayer or whatever it is that you believe! She can really Use the spiritual energy!

The picture is so sad( but cute if you didn’t know the situation!) . Her little legs are like rubber and it is going to take so much to retrain herself to sit as normal as possible. Bit by bit we are dedicated to making this girl feel and become her best self! If you guys have experience in lizard wheel chairs , please reach out! I would love to have advice on the best way to make it and train her to use it!

We intend to continue to post her progress through our social media as she heals and grows. So stay tuned for this little warrior’s journey!

Rescue Meet Up event

Hey guys! We are a small reptile Rescue (5013c), we are not asking for donations(although always appreciated lol!!) We are posting here to see if there are any rescues or rescuers that would be interested in participating in a rescue meet up! Summer has increased surrenders and has slowed down adoptions by A LOT(this is true for many rescues). So we have been considering putting together an event for multiple rescues to gain exposure an potential adopters! This would be an in person event and hopefully an awesome experience for us all! Thoughts and ideas are always appreciated, so please share your opinions and critiques!
