The tank has somewhere around 1 and half year.
Simple sump with skimmer, carbon filter, mídia and perlon.
I want to add some LPS. Any tips when dealing with large anemone and LPS on the Same rock?
Any suggestions to bottom corals? Tks ❤️
Can I just make like a bucket - say about 20 litre of water and mix in enough salt for 55 litre then add it to the tank with distilled water in it? I’m trying to think of easier ways to do it as I have a toddler running around as well lol
I just added my first ininhabitants, a nice pair of clowns yesterday (how original), they seem to be sticking to the left side of the tank and never explore or anything, the question is.. is there too much flow? Or do they just like it there? The right side of the tank has a bit less flow but I have no idea what it looks like when they really struggle to swim or when they just enjoy the place they are at, my wave maker is down to 1% and I did reduce the return pump speed as well to see if they are out and about more but it doesn't make a difference at all
And secondly I have a nassarius snail, or aactually I have 2 but 1 of them went down in the sand the second I added him (as I expected them to do) and 1 just laying on its side doing whatever it does, it's not dead because when I touch it it does go inside its shell, but it hasn't moved at all from where I placed him yesterday.. I'll add a picture in the coments
Hey everyone i was wondering if i should get a uv steriliser for my red sea 200 g2 (42 g). Ive been seeing a lot of pros but also some cons. Is it worth it to get one?
So I just got an orange sponge cause I wanted my vowel beauty to have it to pick on. On the way home I am now reading that they can release toxins and kill corals. Is there anything I can do so it won’t be a complete waste?
Is the attached on the rock a filter sponge? Have a similar one on another piece of rock work that’s double in size?
Yesterday I added this clownfish. The second clownfish that is hiding in the back corner was already in my tank for over a week. I noticed that my first clownfish did a jerk movement when I first introduced the 2nd clownfish. The clownfish jerked back. The 2nd started being more dominant and jerked more often while my first one stopped all together and began to hide in the back corner. When the 2nd clownfish sees my first one, it’ll chase it and jerk— and the clown hides in the back. The two sometimes swim alongside without chasing.
This morning I woke up and they were in the same area. When the lights came on, they went into their separate corners.
Are they establishing dominance, or are the two completely not getting along?
They are similar in size, but the 2nd clownfish was with another smaller clownfish when I got it at the lfs. The first clownfish was mixed with 4-5 other clowns similar in size and they were all swimming independently//alone.
Also— can someone help me ID these two? The dark one is completely black with an orange face (sold to me as a midnight lighting), while the other is dark brown/orange with light orange face.
Oceanlife aquariums in houston. Good peeps
had this guy for 3 months looked like this after about 2 weeks and stayed like this throughout. parameters: 0 nitrite,27 ppm salinity , nitrate 5ppm, ammonia 0ppm
Is this a flatworm? If so does anyone know which kind?
I can’t seem to find these anywhere online, got them from a local hobbyist. Just curious about a name
I just picked this filter roller up for 60 bucks. Was it an good idea or should I just stick with filter socks? I can't machine wash the marine innovate ones so they're hard to clean. Good idea or bad?
For your enjoyment.
Has been around this for the past month or 2 - with ZERO water changes
I have a 15g cube tank. I just tested my tank yesterday: Salinity: 35 pH: 8.5 KH: 7 Ca: 410 Nitrate/nitrite: 0 (going to try to raise a little to see if that helps)
I’m currently running a filter cartridge, plus some chemipure in the sump behind the tank. The filter cartridge is definitely super dirty; waiting on filter floss so idk if that affects anything. I haven’t changed its location; a few weeks ago it was thriving in this same spot! Any advice appreciated.
Can anyone help identify this creature? Good or bad?
