Chill&cozy cocktail lounges

Basically looking for decent bars/lounges, basically good date night spot, one huge plus is if they have couches around. Usually my girl and I love to relax with a beer or martini with a couch and sidetable nearby.

Generally cozy environments is what we are looking for, potential for live music, pool tables, whatnot as well.

Any help is appreciated. Nearby works, not even in Reading

Have you lost your cat? Found near Perkiomen and Miller

Lost house cat, found it on miller and perkiomen (Reading, PA 19602). Purple/pink collar and purple Flea collar. Super cuddly and friendly, looks to be a bit over a year old. Smells like cologne. 10/29/24 10p. I brought her in because we were worried that she wouldn’t do well outside. Also posted on Berks Co Cat Searchgroup on fb.

Have you had any experiences with public adjusters, good or bad?

Insurance company is severely lowballing me on some damage from a leaky roof. Anyone have a public adjuster they had good experiences with? Anyone I should 100% avoid? Tips? Advice?

Haunted Berks?

Given it's spooky season I thought I'd see if anyone has any tales of hauted places in Berks. I've read the Charles Adams books, not a fan of the dude really, but some decent stuff but nothing new in at least 20 years.

* The Grings Mill ghost family I fully believe in. 3 different times we've had dogs out in the park and they've 'seen' something and stopped dead and refused to go any further down the path.

* Apparently the Dollar General on Lancaster Pike is haunted. Knew 2 former employees who both spoke of stuff. It used to be on the site of the old Far East chinese place. Also there was a fatal motorcyle accident in the mid 80s right in front of there too.

* South Mountain outside Wernersville. The old church up there in the 60s before it was remodeled into a private home. The organ used to play randomly. Except the organ was long gone.

Couple Nights

Are there any places or activities in Reading that offer sort of like a couples night themed days? my husband and I recently moved to Reading and we’re looking to meet other people and just friends in general. We both work full-time so it’s kinda hard to meet people. We’re also both pretty physically active people and love playing different games and just socializing.

Birthday Cake

Hello!

I’m new in the area, and I’m looking for your best birthday cake recommendations.

I’m specifically looking for a traditional white/yellow/pound cake with generous amounts of thick, sweet buttercream icing, a little piping decoration, just the most regular, perfect birthday cake!

My favorite cake is the Mrs. Benner’s scratch-made pound cake with buttercream icing from the Landis grocery store bakery, but I don’t necessarily want to drive all the way to Harleysville for a cake.

Fun activities and Hidden Treasures list

Hi r/ReadingPa!

Recently I went to or found out about

So, Reading, what are some hidden gems or treasures you know of? I want some fun activities for the kiddos! Driving an hour out from Reading is good with me.

(assume, I know nothing and just moved here :)! and we'll make list for everyone)

Edit: Adding the list:

  • Crystal Cave in Kutztown
  • https://goggleworks.org
  • Gring’s Mill - walking trail along a nice creek, lots of nature to behold (blue herons)
  • Bartram Trail - repurposed train trail - great, quiet wooded hiking/biking trail - 6 miles one way with only 100’ total elevation change, starts in Hamburg/Tilden
  • The Works - huge arcade and kids activities
  • Reading Museum - great educational experience, also adjacent to an excellent park
  • Angelica Park - nice nature park at Alvernia College, with kids educational camps in summer
  • Weaver’s Ochard - in Morgantown, with a nice farm store, fruit picking and currently a fall festival with kids activities
  • Grim’s Ochard - near Kutztown, with fruit picking and kids activities
  • Challenge arcade at the Berkshire mall
  • All of the public libraries are great to check for a schedule of kid activities. Especially Wyomissing.
  • Crystal Cave in Kutztown
  • Plum Creek is a restaurant and ice cream place with a big playground outside and a walk up window to order from outside
  • Morlatton villiage is a quick historic stop. First settlement in berks.
  • Farmers markets can be a real gem if you are into people seeing. Renningers is the one that popped to mind.
  • Pinnacle is an awesome local hike.
  • Bluerocks is also a cool attraction.. Its in a campground but I think you can get a daypass, do the rocks and the pulpit/pinnacle.
  • Skiing @ bear creek.
  • Pagoda
  • Kutztown fair
  • https://corncobacres.com

Kids Birthday Party Ideas

Looking for ideas on where I can have my son’s 7th birthday party in the winter. It would be him, family, and a few friends. I looked into the Reading Museum but their current exhibitions aren’t the best for his age group. Any ideas/suggestions?

The Good Liars: Reading, PA Trump Rally

Can we play a guessing game, there's only one thing I liked from this, can you guess what it was?

In all seriousness though, do they hear themselves?

Seeking home HVAC maintenance/repair recommendations in Reading.

Does anyone have an HVAC company they like that will come into the city of Reading?

I live in the city and have found that some companies will go anywhere around the city but not into Reading itself.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Under the table jobs?

I’m in a little bit of a jam and waiting for some income. In the meantime, anyone know of any under the table jobs? Cleaning, demo, hauling, dishwashing, etc.
