Forgive me if this has been done before lol.
Obviously subjective but I feel early kotd 2012-2014 had my fav battles. DNA vs diz, pat vs hollohan, bigg k vs illmac
When I was younger I used to go to battles back at home but it was like... not professional. Usually in somebodies house in the hood invite only and I only went because I had a friend who battled, but I haven't been to one since maybe 2011ish, and never actually been to a pro battle rap event. I'm a little awkward and introverted but will talk my ass off if given the right situation. Anybody have experience with Black Mafia Battle League? I think they only had one or 2 events but really I want to know what the vibe is, and the etiquette. Im a fan fan but I know being in person will be different than I expect. Like when do I show up? Do doors open at 3 or does the event start at 3? Do I need to dress like I'm going out or is it cool for my lazy none fashion having ass to wear a plain hoodie and a beanie. Stuff like that. Thoughts, tips?
I hate to admit it, but I carried prejudiced views until the age of 15. I avoided Mexicans and would tremble if a black guy got on an elevator with me. I even used the n word when speaking with my Dad or his brothers.
One day, I found some interesting videos on YouTube. They were battle rap videos. I was immediately entranced and enjoyed watching Charron and other KotD/Don't Flop battlers. But watching some "Top 10 best bar" videos I discovered for the first time that black people battle rap as well. And they were good. I had to look up the lyrics to decipher some of the lines, but my God. It turned out that black people were capable of meeting and even surpassing the lyrical ability of the white rappers. I fell in love with rappers like 100 bulletz and Illmaculate. At that point I knew that my racism was not based in reality and that I had a lot to learn about the world.
To sum it up, I say thank you to all the rappers, league hosts and owners, and the fans for helping me become a better version of myself. :)
The Power Network event is supposedly a month away and we have no information on the card, the main event is ass, the ppv price is silly, the date and time of the event is DUMB. Power Network is another unknown fly by night battle rap failure. Shine lookin shakyyyyy babyyyy!!!
Which set Twork from?
I've been trying to find the origin of everyone saying they don't want to go where Rich Dollaz at.
I know Prep started it, but I can't find anyone saying which battle, and honestly I don't want to watch a bunch of Prep battles to find it haha.
If anyone knows off the top of their head.
Man that shit was hilarious. They were both going back and forth, tweeting and shitting on each other. It was genuinely entertaining. Dizaster even chimed in and told Diabolic to go buy a Wu Tang T-shirt to wear as a hat 🤣 iykyk
A couple years later I started watching Saurus battles and realized where I knew him from. Anyone else have any other funny, way back BR twitter moments?
Bonus points if they involve Diabolic's unwarranted shit talk. I hear he even tried to shit on Eyedea
I know he’s been around forever and considered a legend by some but I can’t think of one quotable from him. Is he top tier ???
Of all the random shit
Roc has put a lot of pain in this industry, he's definitely a legend in that regard. But Roc is overrated to me. The legends he went up against, he lost and is kind of redundant in his material. Bunch of gun bars and plays this tough guy in most of his battles. IDK, Roc had a little run back in the day, but URL and Smack putting this guy on a pedestal is just nasty to me.
