Hi! We are researchers from the Center for Health Identity Behavior & Prevention Studies at the Rutgers School of Public Health. We have launched a study of the experiences of LGBTQ+ people with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. If you’re interested, we will ask a few questions to see if you are eligible. If you are eligible, you will take a 10-15-minute survey and enter a raffle for a gift card for your time.
Are you interested? Click here: https://bit.ly/3be1327
Hey all, I haven’t acted in years and would love to go back to it. I know NY is filled with theater companies but I’m having a hard time finding info about one that is not Broadway/big prod and fame oriented on the internet! I’m interested in something queer friendly (ofc), maybe leftist oriented too? I’m in Brooklyn but would be ok with travelling to Manhattan or Queens if necessary
Queer--a continued act of resistance Queer--🖕🏽the gender binary Queer--the freedom to be unapolagetically me. Queer--a protest of heteronormativity: daily questioning the thoughts, beliefs, and values that we are taught/society upholds as "standard." Queer--smash the white supremacist patriarchy Queer--defying labels and boxes Queer--recognizing that both gender and sexuality can be fluid, and that is a beautiful thing Queer--embracing, and celebrating, our differences Queer--checking ALL assumptions at the door
What do I Need to Know for Car Maintenance???
Working in a mechanic shop, I get this question ALL THE TIME so I decided to create an online class to help you navigate the process. (especially because femmes are often thought to be “clueless” about cars, let’s CHANGE that so no one will ever take advantage of you!)
In this class you’ll learn about:
✔️Changing fluids
✔️Filters
✔️Rotating tires
✔️How often you need to change your oil
✔️What even IS powering steering fluid
✔️Much more!
These classes will be LIVE, so I'll be able to tailor the material to best suit the your needs. During the 3 sessions, you'll have the freedom to ask me anything that you want to know! My brain will be an open book.
Dates: November 12 - 14
Cost: sliding scale starting at $89
(this class will SAVE you thousands of dollars)

Hey Everyone,
My mom is currently working on her Masters and is doing a study on the correlation of folks who hold LGBTQ identities and depression/anxiety. She's getting closer to her goal for participants but still needs about 55 submissions! She's looking for folks between the ages of 18-26 who live in the tri-state area. Folks who have lived there in the past are okay as well. The survey will just ask is you are a resident of NYC or Westchester County and you would say yes. It's online, anonymous, super short, and would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to try to cross post this on a few groups so I apologize in advance if you see this multiple times.
* As a side note: I would really love to get her more folks who identify as Trans and/or QTBIPOC because that representation is extremely important but not as represented as it could be as someone who holds these identites. This is not to discourage anyone who does not hold those identities from submitting.*

Unfortunately, this is not a paid study.
Thanks!

heyo, 26f lesbian in queens, looking for friends of all sorts! i'm in an open relationship, so friendships platonic and otherwise are welcome (no pressure, aka).
I don't know a lot of places to hang out, I tend to just go from work to home/my girlfriends and I'd like to shake things up a bit and do some new things.
me: works with computers, spends my free time on gaming consoles, has a harry potter tattoo and a cat that gives fist bumps
feel free to reach out if you're also looking for friends!
Im supposed to be in ny for a few more months, hopefully doing an intensive mental health program but in the mean time im living in a tiny shared hell hole and pretty lonely. I need some friends. Anyone?
Maybe we can car pool?
Well, it looks like we have 27 people so far! That's a decent amount, right? Might as well have an introductions thread.
I'm Tom, your moderator. I've lived in the city for four years, and recently made the move from Brooklyn to Queens. I work in academic publishing by day, and occasionally do some freelance writing when time permits. I also tend to babble incessantly about food, movies, queerz, social justice issues, and books.
If you want to know what I look like, I posted some photos recently that are easy to find if you go through my comments history.
Queer lit nerd dance party at Public Assembly. The last one was great, and this one will also be super fun I'm sure. There's a pay what you want cover fee, but it goes towards a good cause. This time around it's the Lesbian Herstory Archive.
I feel as if this is something that many people in the queer community are curious about, myself included. I recently switched to a new general doctor by my office, and he seems fine, but I haven't brought up my own queerness or anything queer-related with him, so I don't know how accepting he is. Do any of you have any queer friendly doctors to recommend?
there's gotta be a scene here, right?
