Hi,
I'm looking for somewhere nice around Queenstown where we can meet up with some friends (and their children) after our wedding ceremony. We're looking for somewhere nice, but low-key and child-friendly for a chilled afternoon/evening of drinks and food. It won't be a big group, perhaps 8 maximum, and friends with small children will likely leave early so we want somewhere that feels 'adult' enough once the kids have gone! I have looked into Ayrburn and it seems to fit the bill - but I have never visited, just wondering if anyone has any experience? Is it a bit kitsch and does the multiple venue concept work? I don't want to feel like I'm in Disneyland! Or is it quite tastefully done? Alternatively, any other recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
My inlaws love getting chutney from a stall that’s always at the remarkable markets, but I have no idea of the company name to see if they have an online stall for delivery up to Wellington.
Does anyone have any tips please?
I have been looking at the Glenorchy Air website for a fly-cruise-fly trip to Milford Sound after recommendations on here. The price is about $600 on their website and $400 on trip advisor. They look the same trip… does anyone know why the big price difference?
I’m travelling through to Queenstown next month. Can anyone recommend a taxi service with reasonable fares?
Heading to Queenstown on Monday and wanted to know which jet boat experience is better.
Shotover Jet Boat $169 per person. Skippers Canyon Jet $189 per person. KJet $109 per person special deal. RealNz $109-$149 per person for either 25 min or 60 min ride.
EDIT: We’ve booked in for Skippers Canyon on Tuesday, as that seems to be the most popular suggestion. Thank you everyone! Will let you know how it goes 😁
What’s New Years like in Queenstown? Wondering if it’s worth going or just staying in Auckland & go Waiheke. Are the tourist attractions & activities super busy? Hate long lines.
I’m (28M) traveling solo in Queenstown for the next few days and was hoping to experience the nightlife here. I’m a fairly shy person, but I want to get out of my shell, meet new people, and make some memories.
The other night, I went out but noticed that most people were in groups, which made me feel a bit out of place. It got me wondering—are solo travelers uncommon here?
I’d love some recommendations for places where it’s easier to meet others, especially for someone who’s more on the introverted side. Are there any spots or events where people are more open to chatting with strangers? Thanks in advance for any tips or advice!
We will be travelling with a 1yr old and won't be renting a car. We're staying for 5 days.
Recommendations for accommodations near queenstown central? Also, transport options from the airport without carseat? Baby-friendly activities?
I’m heading to Queenstown in early 2025 and I’m on the hunt for some fantastic accommodation. I’d love to hear your recommendations for places to stay in Queenstown or the surrounding areas.
Whether it’s a cozy B&B, a luxurious hotel, or a scenic campsite, I’m all ears! What are your top picks for:
• Queenstown town center • Surrounding areas (e.g., Arrowtown, Glenorchy) • Scenic spots with breathtaking views
Share your favorite spots, and let’s make this trip to Queenstown unforgettable!
Cheers
Hey guys, thought I’d drop this in here to spread awareness for a good cause.
Cancer Society NZ has created “The Book that Ended Cancer” – a story about the elimination of cervical cancer. It could be a true story with an epic ending, but there’s a catch. The story is unfinished, missing the part where the people step up and join the call for action.
By adding your name, you join the story, and become part of the book that will be presented to government. This is a groundbreaking chance to see a cancer ended within our lifetime, so if you would like to be a part of this kaupapa, you can add your name through the link. 😊
Does anyone know what the scenery is like in December? Will it be lush and green or will it be more yellow and dry?
Hello everyone! I'm new to Queenstown and a few weeks ago there was a vendor at the Remarkables Market that's held every Saturday. His table wasn't very stocked, I think i remember him selling chili oil and dumplings, both I would assume were home made.
Anyways, as the title says, I want to find out where I can get more of his chili oil. The stuff was absolutely delicious and I finished the small jar within the week. My thought was that I could come back the following week and just pick up some more though he hasn't returned for two consecutive weeks now.
If anyone has any leads on the guy, that'd be super helpful.
(Yes, I checked the Remarkables Market website.)
(I also highly recommend everyone try it if they come across his stall. It was perfectly rounded by sweetness, freshness, and a smokey spiciness!)
First time mum here. I'm preparing to head back to work soon and looking for an early learning centre for my son. I've viewed Gems so far and really loved their facilities and ethos. However they are booked out and I'd be in limbo for 2 months so exploring other options. I'd love go with Gems but and could extend my time away from work however keen to hear other options!
Hi everyone, long shot here, but I'm hoping someone might be able to help.
Did anyone happen to pick up a black hard case (with a DJI osmo pocket 3 inside) the day before (22 Nov) in Queenstown, along Beach St (between Absoloot Hostel and Crowne Plaza), on the Orbus (Line 1 towards Airport), or somewhere near the airport?
I'm absolutely devastated as the camera contains so many precious memories, including the first time I met and carried my baby niece, her first month’s celebration, and moments from my travels around NZ.
If anyone has found it, or knows someone who has, please, I would be forever grateful to hear from you. I’ve already filed a police report, but I’m hoping to recover it before I leave NZ on 5 Dec.
Thank you so much for any help! 🙏
Went to Sundays in Frankton a few days ago and my 3 year old has a blast looking at the horses and playing in the play area.
Any other restaurants in the area that have a kids play area or playground! Would love suggestions for Queenstown and Wanaka and the surrounding areas.
Have a buddy of mine on the other side of the world atm. He’s in Queenstown, NZ, but struggling for accommodation. Anyone some advice? Couchsurfing? Yesfam? Other ideas?
Kindest regards
Spent 9 months working in queenstown - went on a quick trip to Australia where I ended up injuring myself and having to fly back to my home country - due to this my visa expired - trying to get sponsorship for a second year visa but the job I had while in queenstown isn’t an accredited sponsor - any suggestions? Will be flying back for a month in March on a visitor visa to try and find something permanent- looking to stay long term/ permanently
I visited a few months ago and was excited to bring my friend there :/ anything else you recommend? it seemed there are no other edm/dnb clubs in qt, but maybe something with a similar vibe and good people? we’re in to make some friends.
Does anyone know if Izzy is still around as they renovate the supermarket? I visit her every time I come to QTN and she wasn’t there yesterday 😭
I’m 19 years old from Germany and planning on staying in Queenstown from the 11th December till mid January. I will learn paragliding. Staying for such a long period of time is quite expensive and I really only need a place to sleep (mattress) and I wanted to ask if anyone knows a place suitable for me. To be honest, if you have a Barn with a mattress inside I will pay you to sleep there haha. Thank you in advance
Edit: thanks for all the advice, I think I figured something good out.🙏🙏🙏
I’m visiting from Hamilton and I’m CRAVING a cheese scone but it absolutely has to be good otherwise I will cry.
Some mates and I want to ride donuts down the river (for free). Do you have any suggestions?
What the thoughts on Crux are around here?
A few articles seem like a bit of a negative bias, but maybe I'm just imagining it .. also seem like some really in depth reporting, more than I see in other local news outlets.
I'm wondering about paying for a subscription as most articles are only for paid members now. There's been a few interesting headlines recently which have grabbed my eye and wanting to read!
Hello Queenstown locals. Love to try and get some objective honest feedback, in as far as Reddit feedback goes at least!
What's the state of the high schools in Queenstown? I understand there are really only two; Wakatipu High and Liger Leadership Academy. Any feedback on both schools, good or bad appreciated !
30 yr old couple coming in January! What location should we be looking to stay in? Only have 4 nights and over our anniversary as well.
Has anyone seen anywhere in queenstown to buy prancing pony beer?
