Was thinking about the fact that so many players are from southern Ontario and Minneapolis, so I compiled this map visualizing active players’ hometowns :)
What are your thoughts?
Hi PWHL fans! If you have a spare 2 minutes, please consider filling out my survey for market research on an app dedicated to PWHL fantasy leagues. I thought it might be fun to see if there are enough interested folks to really see this go somewhere. Thanks in advance! Go Fleet!

I'm biased because she's my favorite player but I think Poulin takes it for me. She's been on an absolute warpath lately, she has the most goals in the league and THREE more than the next highest. I'm interested to see who other contenders would be though, so drop your picks below!
Thank you to all of the volunteers doing the NHL & PWHL power rankings. Each ranker has their own system and have their own reasonings and analyis. It truly is a lot of work.

How does this work? Throughout the course of the week rankers are able to access an app that will allow them to rank teams. At the end of the period we calculate the average ranking for every team and collate all of the analysis provided by rankers.
The app then generates a post that is first proofread and then posted to /r/hockey and r/PWHL!
Ranking (avg) | Team | Delta | Overall Record | Record This Week | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 (1.36) | Montreal Victoire | - | 11-2-1 | 3-0-0 | x-tremememeteam says They are Montreal. They are 1st and you know why. The real test for the Victoire comes in May. firelark01 says The winning streak continues! They got 8 out of 9 possible points this week, so I cannot rank the Vics lower than first place. Poulin was awesome, everyone played well. x-tremememeteam says MPP did MPP things. No surprises here the best team in the league continues to be the best team in the league |
2 (2.36) | Minnesota Frost | 0 | 9-4-2 | 1-0-0 | disastrous-two-6697 says Overall mixed bag this week for the Frost. Completely shut down by the Charge early in the week to a great offensive performance against the Fleet shows that this team has the potential, they just need to find out how to execute night and night out. x-tremememeteam says Minnesota has had it rough lately and if it wasn't for a strong start would be in much more danger. Still they put themselves at risk of sliding to 4th and at how they have played I wouldn't be surprised. x-tremememeteam says Minnesota with some solid play and remain squarely in the top 2 in the league. |
3 (3.09) | New York Sirens | 0 | 7-5-2 | 1-1-1 | ladylexxi says n/a x-tremememeteam says New York is looking good and despite a loss to Toronto really control their destiny. The next game against Ottawa is huge for them as it is a true fight for 3rd! x-tremememeteam says New York is doing enough to stay afloat. A good but not great team that is playing well but not playing perfect. |
4 (4) | Boston Fleet | 0 | 6-5-2 | 1-0-0 | x-tremememeteam says Boston is still a hot and cold team. Could for sure make a run with some consistency firelark01 says Big Lettuce. x-tremememeteam says I feel like every week Boston has gotten better and better. Things are finaly coming together for them. With the games in hand that they have they can shoot up the standings |
5 (5.09) | Toronto Sceptres | 1 | 5-6-4 | 1-0-2 | x-tremememeteam says Toronto is starting to get things together but the have some ground to make up before I rank them any nhigher. firelark01 says As much as I dislike the Kraft Dinner, they did fairly good, they fought the good fight. x-tremememeteam says If it weren't for Ottawa having one of the worst stretches (and seasons) the league has seen they would be last. They look like the other team that will be on the outside looking in as while they barely cling on to a playoff spot, Boston is breathing down their neck. |
6 (5.18) | Ottawa Charge | -1 | 5-8-2 | 0-3-0 | x-tremememeteam says Ottawa FINALLY snapped their losing streak and beat Minnesota. Also Philips was stellar getting a shutout. More offennse and less penalties is still going to be key but they are in a good spot right now. firelark01 says Ottawa needs to start scoring some goals, because it's kinda sad to see 95 shots this week and only two goals. x-tremememeteam says Putrid. Beyond putrid. Ottawa can't buy a goal. 53 penalties in 15 games, 27 goals in 15 games, below 10% on the poerplay, dead last in the league. I would rank them 7th if I could. |
I’d love to see more artist collabs with the PWHL! This league has been a celebration of identities often left out of hockey, and I hope it continues to do so
Yet another game of giveaways, Penalties, and lack of scoring oh my! WE ARE SISYPHUS EVERYTIME YOU THINK THINGS WILL GET BETTER EVERYTHING FALLS APART!!!!
Why hasn’t Michaela Cava been selected to play for team Canada? She’s really great.
Would love to find 2 tickets to the Feb 22nd game for Ottawa vs Montreal. Thanks in advance!
I understand they want to get it right, but these 5+ minutes (maybe it's less but it feels like 20) video reviews feel ridiculous. There have been several lengthy ones, like today's review of the MPP hit, that just suck the momentum out of the game.
Tessa, on Jocks in Jills, said something about getting a few looks at it - one at full speed and a couple at half speed/slo-mo - then make the call. I agree with this take.
The league's disciplinary committee can handle the in-depth review and hand out suspensions and fines as they feel are warranted.
Going into the rivalry series break Montreal is beginning to take a demanding lead over the Frost for first (6 point difference). Meanwhile in recent games the Sirens seem to be struggling having lost Carpenter and Hartje to LTIR.
Down in the triangle of mid between of the Sceptres, Fleet and Charge. The Sceptres finish off the first half getting a big reg win over the Charge sending them into the basement. While the Charge seem to following the Boston strategy of putting all their points into goaltending, with Maschmeyer leading the league with 322 saves made and Frankel at second with 260. As for points, out of the top 20, only 3 are members of the Fleet (Knight with 11, Keller with 10 and Bilka with 9) and the Charge being the only team to not have a player on that list.
Standings:
Victoire - 8-3-1-2 - 31 points
Frost - 5-4-2-4 - 25 points
Sirens - 4-3-2-5 - 20 points
Sceptres - 5-0-4-6 - 19 points
Fleet - 3-3-2-5 - 17 points
Charge - 5-0-2-8 - 17 points
The guy who was with the play by play host should not have a job. He may be the least educated Reporter I’ve ever seen.
Firstly he said that Kori Cheverie was the one that made the team when it was really Danielle Sauvageau.
Secondly he kept on criticing on montreals defensive zone when they only got scored on once.
Finally he said Roughing for Poulins Illegal Checking like thats not roughing
SAME OLD STORY. I AM LOSING MY MIND!!!!
Nathalie Spooner won the 2nd place vote in a close match with Fillier.
The Sirens had 1 shot on goal. Then after two directed at the net, the shots went down to 0.
I’ve seen shots removed in other games.
Is this unique to the PWHL?
Edit: they've been claimed!
Very last minute, the game is at 1pm, but I've got 2 tickets I won't be able to use. Section 6, first come first served! (I'll be posting this in the NY Sirens subreddit as well)
I'm fairly new to hockey as far as seriously invested fans go, and I've chosen to follow the PWHL as a means of understanding the sport better. The main reasons I chose to do this were;
I wasn't sure which team I was going to root for, as I'm not one who believes you should solely choose your team based on your region (I am both a Green Bay Packers and a New York Mets fan, and identified as both while living in both places). Montreal was winning me over from first impressions due to MPP and their beautiful jerseys, as well as their bold and unique identity. On Friday the 31st, however, I had the chance to watch the game between Boston and NY, and was lucky enough to witness the amazing near-comeback made by Ella Shelton. Games like that are what stick with me and cement my loyalty in teams, and I'm glad to say that so far the Sirens have won me over.
I'm going to be attending their game against Montreal tomorrow, and I'll be glad to have scrounged around my dresser for all the teal and orange I can find to represent this team. I'm excited to follow the rest of the season and sneak in as many home games as I can while they're still playing at Prudential (which will hopefully be for a very long time).
🚨 WEE WOO WEE WOO 🚨
I have an idea of what most of you are going to say but I'm curious still.
Hey guys honestly gonna keep it short and sweet, today my daughter and I went to our first game (Toronto and Ottawa) needless to say she had a blast and had so much fun it’s really putting a lot more into girls in the sport as I was leaving my daughter asked if she can play hockey (of course she can)but I think it’s really focused on the kids (more girls) in the sport as it was all girls there it was fantastic to see the hope on all the little ones faces as they see the trailblazers pave the way for these girls to have a great time with the sport! I truly hope this league continues to grow with the love and support of our communities.
Needless to say the PWHL and the sceptres have 2 new fans! She already has her favourite player and wants to watch more games!
Now I’m at home with her trying to my to convince her to sleep without the jersey on but this might be a loosing battle not worth fighting
Anyways just wanted to show my appreciation to this league and the fans
Hey!! Here are my available cards for y’all collectors. Let me know if there is something you need!
This is what the Wikipedia page for the United States Women’s National Hockey Team currently shows for her. She’s just built different.
Of course we all know that Ottawa has THE #1 PWHL fanbase ("Ottawa led the PWHL in average attendance in their inaugural season"), and there's a bunch of great photos at this Hockey News link.
The 1st of February and I just finished watching the Toronto Scepters defeat the Ottawa Charge 4 to 2 and it got me to think, when as someone who lives south of the 49th parallel have I seen an all Canadian NHL game on ESPN or TNT? I do understand that there are only six team but an hour before the puck drop was on national tv Chicago vs Florida. Basically my access to NHL coverage consisted of a handful of teams in some combination. Until the playoffs I rarely see a Canadian based NHL team. As a fan of hockey I like seeing hockey in Canada. Okay enough of my rambling, thank you
