Laminated Bows?

I have a lot of very large PVC pipes, 2-3 inches, I think. I'm planning on flattening them out, cutting them into strips, and gluing them into a more narrow but thicker bow, but I'm not sure on what glue to use. My immediate though was hot glue, but I'm not sure if it would be able to handle the layers flexing differently. Any suggestions or experience?

Regarding European PVC pipes...

Im having trouble making any bows out of readily available pvc pipes. Theyre all too thick walled!

Take my latest pipe for example, its 25mm in diameter (1inch) with a wall thickness of 4.2mm (0.165in or about 11/64 in fractions)

It can bend alright, but its too darn heavy for a bow in my opinion. Its more suitable for a quarter staff or a blowgun, for which Ive used them in the past with variable success. Its so heavy that the barrel start to droop at a relatively short length for an efective tool. It can work, but you hqve to compensate.

Anyways....

Has anyone tried such a thick walled pipe for bow making?

I cant squish it for the life of me... Its so thick that it cant heat up all the way through. I can only bend it with heat and try to work something out that way.

Any prior experience with aimilar pipes is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

PVC Australia

Anybody on here building pvc bows in Australia. Is class 12 pvc workable given it’s got a thinner wall than schedule 40 and if not do you know where to get schedule 40 in Australia. My googling has hit a circular wall? Any insight is much appreciated 🫡

Hair dryer as heat gun?

Hi, am new to pvc bow making, and preparing to build my first bow, but I don’t have a heat gun, my question is does a hair dryer work as replacement? If not what are the alternatives, can I use an electric heater or the fire from the kitchen?

making a takedown recurve

I've got a horsebow that I was thinking of cutting in half to make a takedown

How thick should the pvc coupling be? The bow is 40# at 28 and will be joined in the center with a shaped piece of PVC to form the handle and possible arrow rest

Any help is appreciated

Question! please and thank you.

What is the best length for schedule 40 1.5" furniture grade pvc bow? I have some left over 60 inch lengths of schedule 40 1.5inch furniture grade pvc pipe that I would like to make into bows. One for myself and also for my wife. I have made some pvc bows in the past but nothing with much effort. Want to have siyahs and some recurve to the limbs.
