It’s made using just one thick pipe cleaners! I hope everyone likes it 🐶
We hung a bell by the back door and would ring it when we opened the door. She soon learned to ring the bell herself for the loo or a fuzzy five minute dash around the garden!
My puppy won’t stop nipping when I put him in his cage or when my son touches him. He’s not drawing blood & 75% of the time his teeth don’t touch skin but I’m worried if I don’t teach it to him now that it’s wrong, it’s going to grow into something bigger. So How do I teach him that it’s not okay? He also loves to chew on everything already, so tips with that would be helpful too Also didn’t know I needed an attachment required. It’s a good thing, I like to take pictures of my dog. So here’s the adorable terror.
Our building was testing the fire alarms and I was fully prepared for a panicky puppy, but he slept through the whole thing. 😂 Dude's been chill since birth.
My puppy is just over 5 months old. My fiancé and I adopted her when she was about 8 weeks old. She was in foster care for a week before we adopted her from an adoption center. She was spayed and had her first puppy shots around 6-7 weeks of age and that's very early for most dogs. She's been a nibbler since we adopted her and everyone tells us it's normal. She's completed 3 weeks of day training at a local training center and she did very well and is good on a leash. She's very social and wants to meet everyone she comes into contact with. She is just over 12lbs now and is eating 2 cups a day. 1 cup in the AM and 1 cup for dinner. The issue is when there is dog food around she becomes very aggressive and will growl when we or the cats are near her. I prepared her bowl and set it down and the bowl was in her view. She has bed which she sits on in the living room and last night I went to take her collar and harness off that she had on since we just got home from being out all day and she bit my finger when I was trying to take her harness off. Food was not near her and she was not free from her bed. She has bit be before when she had a q-tip in her mouth she got from the trash and she broke my skin then, about 2 weeks ago.
I took her to petco saturday and she bit the lady trying to clip her nails.
She's never shown aggression like this before and is overall a good puppy with no health issues except skin allergies and the vet is managing them.
I'm looking for advice on what to do since my fiancé said it's my fault for having the food nearby and in her view when trying to get her off the leash. I felt so bad this weekend at petco and the managers didn't make me sign a statement or anything and all I could do was apologize. Please be kind as we are first time dog owners. We have cats in the home and I have grown up with a family dog that has since passed but l've never had a puppy I am responsible for.
I have 2 brothers from the same litter (I know this isn’t ideal but they needed a home)
One never goes outside to do his business. The other does occasionally.
We hired a dog trainer who said they are advanced if anything for their age (4 months) and she could see no reason why they won’t learn to go outside. We are doing all the usual advice (praise, not telling off when they go indoors, strong cleaner to eliminate smell, etc, etc)
They are good boys, sleep through the night, stopped biting, no more destroying, great recall and very “polite “ :)
We are going to have to take it back to basics which isn’t ideal but any top tips as to how you got yours to finally “get” it, especially if you struggled initially.
To give some insight, they are lead walked separately but together for off lead, they have never been crated & we live in an apartment (but there is access to outdoors)
Thank you
Dog falls asleep in places like the couch or a weird area on the bed and when we go to move her, she snaps and bites us. We put her in the kennel afterwards but how do we get this to stop in the first place? We give her warning like “up” once she wakes up but nothing works
We have an 11wk old dachshund and he had pneumonia for the last couple weeks. He couldn’t get his second round of shots but we have to travel for thanksgiving weekend. We want him to go with us but I don’t know how to let him go to the bathroom during the 8hr trip. Anyone have any suggestions? I don’t want to walk him at a rest area but really don’t know what to do TIA! Adorable sleepy face for puppy tax :)
Hi folks! I tried to post this in the dog advice subreddit but it kept getting eaten.
Our 8 month old puppy is an active boy; he likes to swim and is given plenty of opportunities to get muddy. He's gonna be my little hiking buddy when he's finished growing. 😍 Unfortunately, this makes for stinky harnesses, collars, and leashes. We live in the Pacific Northwest, and it's soggy season now, which doesn't help.
I've tried lots of stuff; hand washing, soaking them in detergent or dish soap overnight, everything short of hot washing them and throwing them in the dryer because the washing instructions say that it's bad for them (most of his things are Ruffwear).
Does anybody have a magic trick for getting the smell out?
Hey everybody
My husband and I have this very sweet German Shepherd puppy that we got back in the end of September. He is currently almost 16 weeks old. He's an absolute sweetheart. Bit of a sensitive boy. He is all limbs with no control over those limbs.
We also have a lovely 7-month-old baby boy. Our baby loves dogs. We also have a 9 and 1/2-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi who is absolutely in love with the baby and the baby is absolutely in love with the Corgi.
Does anyone have any recommendations for positive reinforcement regarding interactions with a rambunctious puppy interacting with a baby who likes dogs but isn't used to dogs that are kind of all over the place. I want to make sure that their interactions are safe. They are never unsupervised but I want to be able to help train the puppy to not try to jump on the couch and jump on the baby. Does anyone have any suggestions. Please and thank you all.
(Side note: The German Shepherd puppy wants to be gentle around the baby. He just doesn't know how. He is very social and very friendly. No aggression whatsoever)
I’m REALLY struggling with potty training my new puppy. I have another dog who was potty trained within 3 weeks of having him and got him at 6 weeks. My new pup is about 4 months old now and she refuses to train. It’s especially difficult when she has to go in a crate at any time, she pees almost immediately and I have to bathe her every time I get her out. She’s constantly let outside and we can be out there for 30 minutes and she won’t go potty but as soon as we get inside she lets it out on the carpet. Any tips or tricks that helped you guys?
I recently adopted a black Labrador and retriever mixed 4, going on 5, month old puppy and it's been a very rough 2 days. He was adopted between me and my partner but I'm the only one trying to train him right now and it's been very rough, he already bit Into my partners laptop and broke the screen.
I don't want to instantly quit on him but I can't even leave the room to get myself a drink without him destroying something, even chewing up my iPad case, he has toys and yet he barely plays with them. He doesn't listen when there's other people around and instantly wants to go to them this making leash walking incredibly difficult and it's already driving me up a wall.
Originally, he wasn't what we wanted, we wanted a German shepherd then this corgi mix but the German Shepherd had health issues and the corgi has cat aggression and my partners sister has a cat home.
Since the laptop I've already been feeling frustrated but all this ontop of it is making me shake and I just need some advice that isn't about putting him back for adoption cause I want to keep trying for him but I'm so stuck
6 month old Golden Newfoundland puppy. He is such a fun, interactive, playful dog but he gets very protective and "demon-y" when eating his frozen food from a Kong.
We're going to reach out to our vet and the people we got the pup from but, just asking Reddit for a third party opinion.
