$3,999 for an umbrella?? Or is it $39.99??
give me your rudest customer stories
So I had transferred to another store because my store was promoting people over me as I’ve been trying to be customer service staff and they had been promoting people over me. I was at this new store yesterday and i already know I made a mistake by going there, I already hate it after a day, I know some people are going to say give it time. But I know it will probably just get worse. The reason I had gone to this store was because I know I’ll get promoted because one I know how to do the new closing system and because I know the cs manager. Now I feel like I should give it a week and then tell said manager that I know it won’t work out as feel my mental health draining as I’m there. But I don’t want to be an A Hole about it as I know they brought me there.
What are y'all's thoughts about this new packaging design?
I am a male 14 years old almost 15 and i want to apply for my first job at Publix. I am 19 looking to by my first car and my credit is like a 610 is which isn't abysmal, but I just wanted to know if I need full coverage insurance on the car I am buying through them .

I have an upcoming interview in 3 days, but I have a pre-planned 4-day vacation that’s coming up 3 weeks after my interview. Should I reschedule the interview for after I return from my trip? I know I don’t know if I’ll get the job yet, and they could say no to rescheduling, but should I call the store and ask to reschedule for a date after my vacation? Should I give a valid excuse?
Whos relocated from one state to another with the relocation bonus. How does the getting the moving company work? Family member has to be in the new state soon but the rest of their family is staying behind a little bit if possible for kids to finish school year. Will publix wait to get the moving company or does it have to be by the start date at new state? I'm sure he will ask this but wasn't sure if I could get some info here.
Does anybody know where it’s written that associates need 10 hours off in between shifts? I feel like I might need it tonight.
Edit: typo.
I had these small hours because of personal reasons but I’m trying make them give me closing and opening shifts again but it won’t let me change? Is there a way to do this without paper form ,
Does anyone remember cleaning the freezer floors with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and hot water? The freezer floor cleaner solution we get now is terrible.
Burned my face day one, how do I get transferred into anywhere else I wanna chop fruit all day 😭
Hi, has anyone noticed a change in the taste of the fried chicken and tenders breading? Had a couple tenders today and to me they taste very different than before. Can’t place my finger on it, but not like Publix chicken.
hi everyone! the title is pretty self explanatory . my store had an issue where a bogo sign was placed near the bogo item along with the same item but in a different size (therefore, does not qualify for bogo).. the customer insisted the one he grabbed was bogo, when it was not. i was not cashiering/bagging on this register, but overheard the conversation and stepped in to let the customer know that the item he picked out was the wrong size , and offered to grab the correct size for him . a css didn’t issue a publix promise a little before this , and so i assumed that it couldn’t be issued for this purchase . the bagger asked the manager who said to go ahead and promise it to the customer . i looked like an idiot and after an apology from myself , and then the cashier the customer said “don’t worry, it’s his (my) fault.”
he ended up walking out, but i felt so embarrassed . and now im anxious to go back to work and i dont know why .
Anyone in the finance department know what’s the pay as someone working in store and department manager I’m still young but a office job would be nice and want to back to school what’s the best major to get in to? Mainly for the pay.
Hey guys, little rant.
I’ve had to call out three times 1 awhile ago 1 a couple months ago 1 today None were my fault, let me explain.
For the first two, I called two weeks in advance and said “I can’t work this shift, I will try someone to find it but I need you to find someone to cover it too” and they complied. When both of those shifts happened, the manager that took the call said I never called (same manager for both)
For the one today, I left a shift swap form in our break room, signed by both parties, 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE. 1 week later, I ask my ASM if she can put it in because it hasn’t been touched since I left it “Your customer service managers will put it in” There wasn’t any when I was working so I couldn’t tell them
Just got a text saying it never got put in and I need to call out.
Even though two weeks prior I had a shift swap form signed and filled out, and a week prior I had asked if my ASM could switch it.
Thoughts?
Edit: I am a minor, not a mini And oasis shift swap doesnt work 80% of the time so our managers tell us do it on paper, which is what I did here.
Yesterday was a first for me: DOUBLE SCO for a full 7 hours (plus 1 hour dinner)
so idk what to do buttt, if i already took my test, and passed it, do i roi again?? would it make me retest for management again??
gold standard right here
I spent nearly two decades working for Publix, dedicating myself to going above and beyond for the company, only to be let go without so much as a second thought after an injury. This experience underscores a troubling reality in our society: corporate greed often exploits employees, and we’ve allowed it to persist.
While I appreciate the benefits of a non-union company, there needs to be a middle ground. At some point, protections must be put in place to prevent the mistreatment and exploitation of employees. A balance between corporate interests and worker rights is essential—without it, businesses prioritize profits over people, leading to burnout, financial insecurity, and a culture where employees are seen as disposable.
I’m not saying that people shouldn’t work hard, but we must prioritize ourselves. We have only one life and one body. Over time, many corporations, including Publix, have stripped away meaningful employee benefits, replacing them with less valuable alternatives. These companies no longer adhere to their original principles and, in fact, seem to be regressing in their treatment of workers.
The idea that employees "own" a part of the company is misleading. There’s no meaningful shareholder participation or proxy voting. While employees are encouraged to go above and beyond to save the company money, the financial benefits are distant and uncertain, with wealth primarily flowing upward through tax write-offs and executive bonuses.
Corporations manipulate workers by making it clear that failing to conform to specific expectations—ethical or not—can lead to stalled promotions, lower raises, or undesirable schedules. There’s also a push to minimize workers’ compensation claims because they impact store-level financials, and employees are subtly conditioned to accept this reality.
Additionally, senior employees are often burdened with compensating for poor staffing decisions, unreliable workers, and high turnover. They’re expected to cover for excessive call-outs, pick up extra hours, and sacrifice their well-being—all while the company fails to address the root causes of these issues.
The rising cost of living has only widened the gap, giving corporations even more leverage to exploit workers. We need to wake up and demand a fairer system—one that protects employees from injuries, burnout, and financial instability. Finding a middle ground between corporate flexibility and worker protection is not just necessary; it’s long overdue.
This isn’t just about unions vs. non-unions—it’s about fair treatment. Companies, regardless of structure, need to stop treating employees as disposable. Workers deserve real protections, fair pay, and benefits that actually help them, not just empty promises. The bigger issue is making sure businesses value the people who keep them running.
Hi, guys!
I'm a former associate of Publix, and it's been a few years since I last worked at Publix (Pre-Covid).
I'm kinda down on my luck, and I'm trying to get hired again. I applied online a couple days ago, and my SSN was still in the system. So that's cool.
I'm hoping because I'm a former associate, that I could have a good chance to work there again. I have applied for both Cashier and FSC.
Would love any tips for the next steps, but I'd hate to bother or pester the store/management by being too hasty.
All the best!
I’m closing bakery by myself, and I have an idea of what I’m doing, can someone please give me like a rundown or a checklist. Like am I supposed to empty the service counter? Or idk? Please anything.
So we all know that corporate gives stores money to put on these associate appreciation luncheons.
The store that I work at we have an overnight stock crew that comes in at 11:00 at night to 8:00 in the morning and midnight to 9:00 in the morning.
This store always seems to do their luncheons on Thursdays from 10:30 or 11:00 till 4:00.
Of course this is after the grocery crew has left for the day.
If we do receive anything it's stuff that's either been sitting out all day or stuff that's been sitting in a refrigerator all day.
Or it's nothing at all,
Management has said that they have done stuff for us before, and that we didn't eat it.
Of course we did it because it's been either sitting in a hot box or in a hotel pan all day or been sitting in the refrigerator all day I don't see how it's fair that every body else gets a hot meal for lunch but you can't just do something as simple as order pizzas for us and have them delivered before we come in that night.
Not to mention on Fridays we have a partial crew because it's a back stock day so there's usually only three or four of us here instead of the 8 or 9 of us that are here on truck night.
You would think that for an overnight crew that
Fully blocks the store five nights a week, usually has to build displays as well on Wednesday nights when we come in, also have to feel specials nine times out of 10 because for some reason the daytime crew can't seem to do it, you think we'd be shown a little more appreciation than what we are considering how the company gives the stores and allowance to do so.
It's sad really, I've been with this company 18 years I used to get cards for my anniversary date for my birthday and for Christmas,
It wasn't much but at least it make me feel like it was appreciated cuz God knows the pay doesn't.
