It's nostalgia overload as we discuss the most influential gaming system ever released! The original PlayStation, later called PSOne, brought a new attitude toward gaming.
Arguably the most influential gaming system ever. It changed the face of console gaming and we're here to discuss it.

Hi there, have a PSOne (SCPH-102) which has had its capacitors swapped out (one of the video one ones and the disc one, C705) after it stopped reading discs soon after having its first cap changed. Now, when a disc is put in (burned CD, console was previously modchipped with an old-style 8-pin chip) it spins it at full speed without starting to read it on startup, acting as if there is no disc booting into the memory card/CD player menu, whilst spinning the disc at max speed, unregistering when the lid is opened and continuing to spin at max speed until powered off. Any fixes? Thanks in advance!
This is a hidden Easter Egg for the original Discworld game, you can read how it was first discovered here. And you can watch this video on YouTube on how to trigger it.
A little bit of a backstory.
The line, is a chain of references from the Monty Python crew, mostly John Cleese being the first man to say "shit" on British television leading to him being the first man to say "fuck" in a funeral during his eulogy in the wake of fellow Monty Python star Graham Chapman, leading to Eric Idle (voice of Rincewind in this game) being the first man to say "fuck" in a video game!
And though the sound files exist in the PC version, the Easter Egg cannot be triggered, only the PS1 version has confirmed to work, though I don't think the Saturn version has been ruled out yet.
There's a similar Easter Egg in the second game, but with a bleeped "fuck", I wasn't able to trigger it on my last playthrough and I can't find any information online to confirm that it can be triggered in the PS1 version, but you can on PC.
Anyway, an interesting curiosity, and I'm not sure how true the statement of being the first is, but swearing wasn't common in games back then, so I'll take it at face value unless proven otherwise.
Finally beat bongo hills
I went back to the parents house and collected all my old consoles to put on display at my place.
I found everything except my PSX. My most prized piece. I couldn't figure out where it was.
A few weeks later, I remembered. For no reason. It just came back to me. It was the stupidest, stupidest thing.
When I was in highschool 20 years ago, I traded it for a bag of weed.
I still know the guy, he still lives in town. I know for a fact he's been locked up a couple times but just for weed, he's a good guy. I wonder if he still has it, and if I could buy it back all these years later....
As the title says I'm looking for a list of the names for every NTSC-U Playstation 1 game, all 1284 i think? I'm going to start collecting every NTSC-U PS1 game and its gonna take a while, i already got a few. Thanks.
"Hey everyone! I wanted to get some opinions on this, as I'm a bit uncertain. I've put together a decent collection of factory-sealed Japanese PlayStation 1, 2, and 3 games, and I'm wondering if these are considered collectible or if the PAL/NTSC versions generally hold more value. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! For instance, I have factory-sealed copies of Parasite Eve 1 and Parasite Eve 2. Are these particularly valuable?
Howdy y'all, I recently bought a ps1 that would not boot so I bought a new motherboard and put it in, then it booted but my controller wouldn't work, so I bought a new port. And it worked for a bit, and now it doesn't work anymore! Does anybody have help or advice (it's a scph-9001) the fuse also looks okay.
Everybody in my circle back in the day new Final Fantasy, Legend of Dragoon, Secret of Mana, etc but still to this day I had never met, in person, anyone who had ever even heard of this game. So how I even got my hands on it as a kid I have no idea but I always thought it was a fantastic game and I wish more people knew about it.
Am I gonna enjoy this? Always loved the look of Heart of Darkness but missed it the first time round - saw it yesterday dirt cheap so had to pick it up. Any fans?
When I was a kid a rented a game , can’t remember what it was called but it had either an open world or a big linear level that was a long city street with a building you could go in , there was a dance floor that lit up and npc’s dancing and a song playing over and over , the song was “last night a dj saved my life “ . 😂 does this ring a bell with anyone ? It’s been wrecking my head and I can’t find the name of the game anywhere or any videos of the part Im describing. It had to of been on ps1 because I remember renting G police at the same time 🤣
Earlier in the year i saw a video where at some point they featured a Playstation 1 game that i cannot for the life of me remember.
It had something like an Edo Period Japanese setting with horror elements and i can vaguely recall a level/stage set in a forrest with a lot of barren tree trunks.
I know its not a lot to go off but does anyone have any leads to what it might be?
Edit: It was Tenchu! Apologies, it seems i misremembered Ninja as Samurai. But thank you for all the suggestions as well, I'm definitely going to have to try the other games that were frequently mentioned as well.
Some of you requested to see the motherboard to get a better idea of the damage, I took a photo of the area where the plug was connected. Im pretty sure this is a PAL ps1 (since im in europe)
I disassembled it cause i put it back wrong last time i did, while i was removing the optical drive i pulled to hard on it and ripped the entire plug. Is there anyway i can fix it without solder?
planning to make mine 12v.
