I don't know why it is doing this, the controller works both on my ps1 and ps2, is it because I need to enable a setting or something? Or is it just because it's a burnt game. My burnt copy of Tony Hawk pro skater 3 won't even get past the loading screen. But my burnt copy of GTA 3 works perfectly.

i discovered this game maybe 10 years ago when i started collecting seriously and since have collected almost all the games in the series. the music. the drifting mechanics. all of it. chefs kiss.

I started categorizing the PS2 games by genre but not sure if I want to continue sub-categorizing genres such as street racing vs rally vs motogp, or flight sims vs arcade aviation, etc. There is also the vertical shooters/shmups library which is extensive.

so i have a dualshock 1 and its analog sticks are kind of wobbly also some buttons became really mushy can i fix this or should i look for a new one instead?

I'm a fan of the PS1 game "T'ai Fu" since childhood. I've played it so many times, but I love watching people play it. Now, the thing is that the game is relatively easy, even in normal mode (there's no hard mode)

You're more likely to make that tiger die from accidentally falling off a platform than enemies hits, because there's loads of checkpoints and health refills.

A few years back, I used Cheat Engine to see if there were ways to make it more challenging. I managed to find the hexadecimal values for health refills and by replacing them by 00 in the iso, I managed to permanently removing them! I feel this is an improvement and makes the game way more interesting.

Anyway! The thing is, I've put the mod on archive.org:

And I'd love sooo much to see actual people playing it. I'm pretty sure it's possible to finish it (there's still a way to get some health back by pressing a button after a combo, plus infinite continues and checkpoints), but of course...not a cruise anymore!

Now, I know setting up a PS1 emulator and all that is always a pain (it runs the best with Duckstation)

So I'm even willing to spend a bit of money, I'd give 10 € to anyone who can go up to the first boss (and can show a playthrough video or stream live), and I'd go up to 100 € to the first player who can finish it without using any cheats and record a full playthrough!

I just recently got myself a near mint PS1 (and PS2) at a retro gaming convention and have been dying to get them hooked up, but the situation is that I can only plug them into my flat screen and I need good HDMI converters. I'm not looking for top-of-the-line luxury equipment like RetroTINK, though maybe someday.

This is where I start to get confused and conflicted, because I'm very new to this scene and just recently learned of how the dirt cheap converters are bad at clean resolution and input lag, and I've seen different Redditors drop better alternatives like GBS-C, OSSC, and Rad2X, but it's hard to tell for me personally what qualifies as mid-range and high-range among all these. For consolation, I have a 65' OLED and I really want the graphical transition to not be rougher than what I already expect it to be.

All in all, on just the consoles themselves with all the default wires and controllers included, I've only spent 175 dollars so far. I know retro gaming can be expensive, but I guess I just wasn't anticipating to be spending hundreds more dollars after getting the consoles. I guess I need composite cables too since everyone says those are better than the red, white and yellows. So I guess it all comes down to this one question- what is the best converter I can get that is still affordable but is comfortably in the mid-range quality? As I said, maybe one day I'll get RetroTINK 4x or whatever, but I'm just not ready to fork over that kind of money yet.

I've wasted two blocks of storage on something I can't figure out how to watch. Can't watch it in game. It won't load. I even tried the CD player function to play it, but it won't work. Any help is appreciated.

When it comes to great PSX games, what do you think of? Is it perhaps, Crash Bandicoot? Or even PaRappa the Rapper? Or how about Arthur! Ready to Race**?**

Now, before I explain myself, lemme give you some context. In 2001, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (then called "The Learning Company" partnered up with RuneCraft Studios and MATTEL to make this dreadful fucking nightmare and then pushed out on the PSX of all consoles.

The plot revolves around a sandbox racing contest of some shit that only Arthur shows up to because nobody else could be assed to join. Think I'm kidding? WEEEEELLLLL...

The ending cutscene straight up confirms that Arthur was the only person to join in because he's literally the only one on the bloody award podium.

Now onto the gameplay.
The gameplay is a mix between unfortunately easy platforming and boxcar racing. Mostly... platforming... not even good platforming either. But it controls well... and if you can look past Arthur running like he's constantly shitting his pants then you'll be fine. Actually now that i think about it all of his animations are completely buggered...

There's a multiplayer boxcar race thing but uh....
...don't bother.

Now onto why I love this dreadful mess of a game. Now you see, Arthur! Ready to Race is janky and noisy as shit with unfortunately not much to do at all all things considered **and a huge lack of racing (**but in that dept. I guess you can say Arthur isn't very race-ist), but it's just got a weird, distinct charm that makes coming back to it for a good laugh or two. It's things that make a game as abysmally shit as this one a joy to play, and hopefully Arthur will stop shitting his pants.

I'm having some problems with burned backup CDs. They always stutter. I've tried with ape escape and it crash after 10 minutes of play and with Tekken 3 where the loading times are high and the audio stutters.

What brand of cd (and cd speed), burner and software (and write speed) do you use for burning CDs? If you can, give me also some links to buy it directly.
