It would be super fun, I know that!
• I just watched WCW Halloween Havoc 1998 for the first time ever. First off, we open the PPV with a 6 minute promo by....Rick Steiner. Yes, all-time master of the promo, Rick Steiner...🚫
• Chris Jericho & Raven have a very good opener, went just under 8 mins ✅️
• We then get Hollywood Hogan & Eric Bischoff out for a promo, usual Hulk fluff with The Bisch kissing his ass, encouraging fans to stay tuned for a PPV they've already bought... 🚫
• Then we get Disco Inferno vs Juvi in a number one contenders match for a shot at Billy Kidman's WCW Cruiserweight Title...on the same show? Why? Why couldn't this match take place on Nitro or Thunder in the days leading up to the PPV? 🚫
• Wrath vs Meng. Yes, this is beginning to feel like a WCW Thunder taping now. Please...just terrible 🚫
• Guess what? More nWo promo time. Scott Steiner shows us that he struggles with the English language as he rambles incorrectly about beating up Buff Bagwell & Rick Steiner. He also challenges Bagwell & Rick Steiner to a tag team title match (why is the heel doing this?). If that's not bad enough, out comes bumbling, stumbling JJ Dillon to repeat everything Steiner says & adds in IF Steiner & Giant lose the WCW Tag belts then Scott Steiner will face his brother Rick tonight in a 15 minute match TONIGHT. What? Why not on the next Nitro? Talk about wasting PPV time, more on that later. 🚫🚫🚫
• Finlay vs Alex Wright - okay 🥱 but I'll allow it to stay because its PPV filler & we need something boring between the big matches. Pissbreak. ✅️
• Saturn vs LoDi - no. Just no. This was un-PPV worthy, they've snuck this onto a big time PPV like a rat sneaking onto a ship. 🚫
• Rick Steiner & Buff Bagwell vs Giant & Scott Steiner - this really should've been saved for the next Nitro. Bagwell wasn't ready & it really felt like more of an angle than anything that belonged on PPV. The swerve was nice but predicable.🚫
• Rick Steiner vs Scott Steiner - terrible, slow & plodding match with the highlight being Tony Schiavone insinuating that Judy Bagwell is a heel & getting shut down by Mike Tenay.🚫
• Scott Hall vs Kevin Nash - I loved this. No, it wasn't a Dave meltzer 5 star classic in the Tokyo dome but it was a masterclass in storytelling? & I really enjoyed it. I only learned a few months ago that Yokozuna was planned to do a run-in during this match. That would've been cool. ✅️
• Sting vs Bret Hart - both men had a disappointing night here. Sting was totally unmotivated, Hart couldn't give a toss & Sting looked bloody awful with thar beard.🚫
• Hulk Hogan vs The Warrior - this match has been shat on enough. Its abysmal but at least people remember it & let's face it, it's what drew the house.✅️
• Diamond Dallas Page vs Goldberg - very good match but the show went too long. I'm glad Goldberg had his best match to date here it's just a shame half the country didn't see it.✅️
• Clearly there was major timing issues here. They should've cut all the nWo promo time, cut Steiner vs Steiner until the next night & that would've easily saved them enough time.
