I’m looking to print a version of Skull and Roses that I can fit into a vinyl wallet like Button Shy games come in.
I did a quick search and it looks like most homemade versions of the game are using something like chips, tokens, or coasters. None of those are quite as portable as I was hoping for.
Is there a decent Print and Play version that uses cards?
I got some of the ButtonShy games on the black Friday sale, but I'm struggling to get the alignment right for double sided printing and I believe it is because the PDFs only come in letter size and my home set-up is all aligned for A4.
Any idea how I can get A4 format?
Just getting into PNP. Looking at the sales games at pnparcade and am overwhelmed. Any suggestions on "must have" pnps I should consider picking up from their black Friday sale, or other sales if there are any?
Looking for a high quality Rotary paper trimmer that is able to clamp down and keep paper from moving. I am not worried about space but would like the budget to be reasonable. I found some older posts here but they don't look updated on what a good one is that isnt cheapo/eventually give me a headache.
I'm looking for some very casual and fairly easy PnP games. Bonus if they are free. These will be played in a bar setting and should not have complicated rules or setup. Ideally it should not take more than 30 min to setup, explain the rules and play one round. We will be 4 players.
I recently made a game to fit into a plastic gum case and I love the form factor. It’s portable and can fit standard d6’s or something like 40-50 cards, depending on how thick your card stock is. I bring my game everywhere with me in my fanny pack, but it’s small enough to fit in a pocket. I think these gum cases are great format for print and play games.
I decided to make some affinity templates for other folks to use. I also listed the measurements, for if you don’t use affinity.
So I was happily laminating some 3 mil sheets and everything was fine. When I put in a new piece, my Scotch laminator started rattling. The sheet seemed to come out laminated properly. I tried opening it up but the bottom screws are so tight and I don’t want to strip them.
Has anyone had the same issue??
So, the girlfriend and I got a ecotank with the intention to be printing and playing a lot in the foreseeable future.
But for now, what should I do first? I want something relatively easy and largely card based. It can be paid or free. Please hit me up with ideas.
Dungeon-crawling games come in so many unique styles—each with its own twist on exploration and gameplay. Some have you cut out and place tiles as you delve deeper (like Bag of Dungeons), while others fit everything onto a single card (One Card Dungeon). Then there are those where you print a page and mark your progress directly (Roll 4 Ruins).
I’m curious: when it comes to setup and build, what gets you excited?Do you love intricate setups with lots of pieces, where crafting and building feels like part of the adventure? Or are you more about simplicity—getting straight to the gameplay with minimal effort? For instance, I’ve noticed some players relish the “IKEA effect” of assembling their games—it gives a sense of ownership and pride. But for newcomers to print-and-play games, too much complexity can feel intimidating.
Even seasoned veterans of the hobby sometimes prefer simpler setups when time is tight.
In designing Roll 4 Ruins, I’ve tried to strike a balance: keeping the crafting element simple enough to be approachable while still giving that satisfying “I built this!” feeling. My hope is that it offers a fun, hassle-free experience for everyone—from PnP novices to those who’ve moved away from big, time-consuming builds.
So here’s the main question: Do you weigh the time and effort required to build a game when deciding whether to play it? Or are you more focused on the gameplay itself, regardless of the setup?I’d love to hear your thoughts, whether you’re a fan of epic builds, quick-start games, or something in between! Share your experiences—what works for you, and what doesn’t?
I’m not sure why it keeps coming out with these lines? Is my printer too old? I printed a picture of my dog recently and it didn’t come out like that though so maybe it’s the card stock? Not sure why i keep losing the e’s either
I´ve noticed there are questions in the forum like ... how to change to gutterfold .. etc etc ....
so i´ve decide to share some information on my experience and tools i have used for reformating some pnp documents.
PNP Tool (is free ) - is the one software that will create your final document, you can set almost anything in this software as this is a specific tool oriented for pnp crowd. However , in order to make a document of your own you will need few things first and it can be somewhat easy , to extremely tedious.
First thing you will need, is each card as a separate picture ( plus one pic of the back - if unified )Extracting the images of cards as separate files - i do this in software called Affinity Designer (paid software), but if anyone knows alternative that allows you to edit PDF files and save those pictures separately for free, please do share in the comments.
If you happen to have a single picture with many cards in a grid - i would recommend using free software called Irfan view as it can slice single image into many.
So basically, once you have all the pictures ready (separately) all you need is the free software called PNP tool - it should have all the options to fit your format requirements

I have a hard time aligning back and front of card and so I was wondering if there is a way to take a pdf (like a button shy game, 9 cards) and transform it in gutterfold (3 cards, 3 back and just fold in half). Any app or easy trick to do it?
I was always a fan of board games and wanted to get in pnp, anyone has tips, etc. to get into it?
Anyone have a cheap source of anything thicker than index stock besides cereal boxes ? Was thinking of the holidays and am those gift clothing boxes you get from department stores .. anyone ever try those to make Pnp games (was considering trying to glue 2-3 to make tokens )
Please, help with your best tips of free pnp games (and file links, if possible)
Lookie here, many cheap Buttonshy games at PnP Arcade. Not sure if I'll buy any. I had my fair share at previous sales and there's nothing new that I really want. I also do not like the Buttonshy games that much anymore. (There are a few exceptions)
Are there any other Black Friday deals for PnPs of which I should be aware?
Are there any "big name" "big game" that are available in pnp? I often saw button shy and some other light pnp card game but was wondering what in the big popular boargame are available in pnp? (Free or not)
Hello, total newbie here. I am only about 1 year into the boardgaming hobby as a hole. It is increasingly apparent that my ADHD engineering brain was missing this hobby like a phantom limb. Suffice to say I am midway into developing my first game.
I don't have much experience with graphic design and am curious what is a good route to go for creating cards from scratch. Ideally I was envisioning designing the artwork and importing into some sort of card management software. What are good choices for this? Free would be preferred.
Stylistically, I am leaning more towards something like radlands or slightly more abstract, rather than a standard TCG looking card.
Hi all! First time poster in this group.
I’m working on a 2p card game, and I've began thinking about possible routes of publishing. I want to check with the PnP crowd about this possibility.
The game includes 66 cards, in color. A strictly b&w version is possible but I think it will make play more difficult (you are collecting cards based on shapes and colors. The cards art is fairly abstract otherwise).
Assuming you’re interested in the game after watching a review, a playthrough etc, and you think the game is replayable and could have staying power.
For such card count (66), would you rather:
I would appreciate thoughts and pointers!
P.S.
If it matters: the cards are only shuffled once per game. A game runs for about 40 min.
