Anyone know where I can find my Federal and State files for free?

Looked on the IRS site and they only let You file Federal free, certain states qualify. What sites have people used to file both free? Any help would be appreciated! Stay safe stay warm! Xx

The Maine Turnpike Authority's $331 million toll highway expansion plan is on hold

In June of 2022 the Portland Climate Action Team (PCAT) supported a Resolution put forward by the Portland City Council calling for a halt in the planning of the Gorham Connector. In calling for the delay in action, the Council made a reasonable request to the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) to study an alternative rapid transit mode that would relieve the congestion on the local roads from Gorham to Portland. The resolution passed unanimously. In April last year PCAT joined with Mainers for Smart Transportation (M4ST) to oppose the Maine Turnpike Authority proposal. Local support within the impacted communities has now waned and the project now appears to be on hold. https://www.pressherald.com/2025/02/01/poll-shows-more-residents-oppose-gorham-connector/

Drive-By Truckers

First off want to say how incredible that show was last night. Secondly I wanted to ask, did anyone notice the bassist player tripping on what I would guess shrooms or acid?

What’s the best baked good you’ve had in Portland? Looking for some recommendations

Hey everyone!

I recently stopped by Standard Bakery and tried their Asiago and prosciutto croissant…. Holy shit, honestly, it might’ve been the best croissant I’ve ever had. Totally blown away by how delicious it was.

I’m curious, what are your go-to baked goods around Portland?

Whether it’s a pastry, bread, or something else, what’s the must-try item from your favorite bakery? Would love to hear your top picks.

Thanks in advance!

Strata

Tonight my family and I went into Strata in Portland so my husband could look at their kitchen knives. He absolutely loves cooking and is beginning his journey into purchasing good quality knives that will last us for many years to come. If y'all haven't been in there yet go! Seriously! The store is beautiful and the owners are so knowledgeable about their products and they are so kind and patient in answering all your questions and helping you find exactly what you need. You can tell they're passionate about providing the best service and products. If you're looking for beautiful and quality knives they are the place to look. They're more expensive than your average home goods store knives but do offer a range of prices. Parking can be tough to find but it's worth a few extra steps and we fully plan on being repeat customers as we look to upgrade some of our kitchenware.

Any tennis players?

Looking for people to play/hit with. My serves suck but I have a good forehand and backhand. I’d say I’m like a 3.5 NTRP but could be overestimating. Absolutely willing to play with better players but don’t want to waste your time

I’m 33 male

Spring is coming…where are the community gardens?

Naturally, as it’s the end of January and not quite the half way point of true winter, I am itching for some dirt under my nails.

Anyone know where the community gardens are? Since I can’t actually plant anything right now, I’m satisfying the craving with planning ahead.

Sweet Dirt

Did Sweet Dirt at the intersection of Allen and Forest close? All their lights have been off for a month. Usually don’t see many people in there at a time anyways, but their lights are always on.

Landlord increasing rent after not increasing since 2022. What is the most he can increase?

I moved into my apartment back in 2022. I haven’t seen a rent increase since then. There haven’t been any updates to the apartment. I know Portland has rent control, which limits the amount a landlord can increase rent. According to Pine Tree Legal the increase can’t exceed 10% annually. However, since he hasn’t increased in years, can he raise the rent more than 10%?

Thanks for your help!
