Here's the quick breakdown: There's no "bad" part of Portland. The Peninsula is the walkable downtown urban area. Everything outside of that is suburban neighborhood with light mixed retail.
If you are looking for a place to rent, Craigslist is the recommended site.
City Resources:
Report city problems (burned out streetlight, safety issues, potholes, broken park equipment, etc...) with See Click Fix. The phone app is recommended so you can send a photo.

Hi everyone, I solo-visited Portland this past weekend. I had a spectacular time! The food and scenery were great, and the people I met were very friendly. I saw the Portland Art Museum (and other galleries), Peaks Island, a lighthouse (Bug Light), the Cryptozoology Museum, a ghost tour (the Rum Riot ghost tour), Old Port, and the Eastern Promenade. I also had so much good food, the food scene here is incredible. Looking forward to coming back soon!
I found this dog on the corner of Beckett and Moody - no tags, animal control is on its way, but wanted to post in case anyone is looking for their pup
Hey all, are there any folk music jams in Portland? Or, does anyone want to start one? That could mean old time country, sea shanties, whatever. I'm new to the area and looking to make friends, sing, and have an excuse to pull out the old banjo. Any ideas welcome!
I know I’m pretty late in the season but I’m looking for acorns. My tree lost most of its branches and the rest we snagged by squirrels. Anyone have any left I could come and collect or know of any oaks trees in parks?
Went all out with a smoke machine this year + full sized candy. Fairly limited trick or treaters tho sadly. Not shown: 12 foot skeleton slightly removed from all this
Anyone have any details on what may be going on this evening in terms of the air pollution in the West End. The West End has a nasty kerosene / diesel / fuel oil smell to it—and no, it isn't the smell of pumpkins sintering. Is it the weather? It just seems worse than usual.
We are two 35 yr old women out of town looking for a nice spot that has a good crowd, music drinks. We’ve been to Portland couple of times and always ended up at Henry’s (?) but would love to know if there are other places that would be worth going. Interested in good music, drinks, chill vibe & crow 30-35 +

Careful out there kids! 🤡
King Diamond!! Blue/purple vinyl🥰
I came across some new dogs they posted on pet finder. But it’s so hard to tell what’s a scam these days. I went through another organization and had a bad experience, for which I will not name.
Is it legit, anybody adopted through them?

I am relocating and looking for a short term renter for my east end townhouse beginning 12/1 (or sooner) for 3-6 months. Furnished with all utilities included. Where is the best place to advertise?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a great sushi restaurant that also makes a fresh margarita? You know, none of that fluorescent green sour mix, we want the good stuff, but also craving sushi. I’ve been to a few places like this in my travels, but still in search of here in Portland.
I’ve tried GoGoRefill in South Portland. They have excellent products but are very pricey - over $100 for a gallon of body wash, for example. Any other sources?
It’s not illegal I don’t think, but to just blatantly lie and mislead on these signs is distasteful. We need to publicize the organizers of these groups.
Heading up soon. Going to be spending some time on idustrial drive. Looking for a solid place not in old port west of 295 for lunch. I've heard about bird and co. Open to most places.
