Brand new to growing and waiting for all my equipment to arrive. Will be utilizing a 4 bucket DWC and want to start off with clones. Any recommendations on where to buy high quality clones around town? I favor Indica dominant strains and also looking for recommendations on what strains are good for beginner growers? I started growing my own medicine as a hobby this year and I was trying to get my hands on some autoflower seeds locally but none of the dispensaries seem to carry autos. I was wondering if any local growers had some extra seeds they could throw my way, I would be open to trading some of my photo breeding project seeds, they are a cross between girls scout cookies and chocolope. They are not feminizied and I have yet to backbreed to lock down the genetic so I have no idea what they will look like grown.

I'm trying to decide if I should bungee her down or something. What are the smart steps to take?

I grow just a few small plants at my place, and I want to be able to build a soil mixture so I don't have to rely on bottled nutes so much. The problem I run into is that every soil part is sold in a minimum of a cubic foot, sometimes more. I really only need maybe a 5-gallon bucket worth of soil to get me through the year.

Is there anybody (or group of people) interested in splitting up something like this? We could go fractions in on parts and split them, or someone could mix everything together and distribute portions of the mixed soil.

Or is there anybody who's already making some killer soil that wants to sell a little bit?

I'm really just spitballing here and open to suggestions and feedback. If something like this gets going, we could also work on splitting orders for pest management like predatory insects from evergreengrowers. I've enjoyed working with them in the past, but the small scale I run now just makes an order from them feel like throwing an army at something a fly swatter would fix.

I have seed of quite a few strains and crosses, would anyone be interested in having a seed exchange, maybe around Thanksgiving?

Mine aren't loving this rain. Clear tarp going up soon. On the plus side I tried one plant of Oregon Diesel this year (clone from progressive collective) and it's loaded with huge kolas that are a week away from harvest already. This strain is so early, productive and mildew resistant: 10/10 will grow again. My other 3 strains are still several weeks away.

Hows the summer treating you so far?

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has been thinking about these topics lately. What strains did well for you outdoor last year and which ones sucked eggs?

I tried out several different strains last summer with mixed results. I only found two strains which started flowering early enough to harvest by the end of September, ones a homemade cross of two other homemade crosses and I ended up with two females that were flowering on Aug 1, but then I only bred one of them and it was my shitiest tasting plant. The other of those two ended up being maybe my best tasting one so I gambled and lost there. I have more of those seeds for next summer.

The one that performed perfectly for me was Macob Kush which is a strain from Bradley Danks who is a local medical grower thats been working on outdoor strains for a while. He gave me tester seeds in 2017 and they outdid everything everything else I grew out that summer so I used 10 more Macob Kush seeds last spring and ended up with more early flowering females than I had room for since I got 9 females and they all started flowering right around August 1. I culled the two shortest ones and grew out the remaining 7 more tightly spaced than I'd been planning to and started harvesting them Sept 25. Heres an album of my Macob Kush grow pictures. If anyone likes the pictures, the breeder is looking for more seed testers.

My plans for next summer's garden mostly revolve around growing the seeds I made using that one Macob male and trying to find a tasty one from that other no-name strain to breed. Also I need something purple because I failed to produce a purple flowering female last summer.

Made a couple of cuttings recently to take a look at trichomes and discovered small seeds growing. Plenty of flower so I guess my two plants have turned herme. Should I harvest as soon as possible or will waiting a few days even make a difference at this point? I was targeting this weekend to harvest but tempted to take Wednesday off work and just do it.

Wanted to grow this year, but was out of town on-and-off the last month with no one to water. Planning on getting clones this weekend. Is it too late to start an outside grow?
