I am not that good at neg and I am wondering if I should run something different. I am currently running court clog and taxes cp for trademarks and copyrights. For patents I am running prizes cp and court clog. Is there something better or should I keep it the same?
There's a few Affs on openev that deal with indigenous IP this year and a judge told me that a white savior K might be a good counter to these. Does anyone have any white savior K files or resources that would work to make one?
I'm an LD debater who's attempting to transition into CX policy debate, but our school takes us to very few tournaments a year. Is there a way to sign up individually with a seperate judge outside of your school with just your partner?
Guys every single impact I find for my "biotechnology good for innovation" aff is just people saying "IF WE DONT DO THIS CHINA WILL CHINA ALL OVER THE PLACE WHICH IS BAD (because it's china) so LET'S SPREAD OUR PATRISM BABYYY" and like I'm lowkey not into that so can anyone think of an alternative????
Like I just wanna say "disease is becoming more rampant so we need the plan because the next pandemic is soon so having the plan means WE WONT DIE" but I can't find a way/structure to make that sound convincing
Does anyone know what browser extension can be used to see how many downloads your uploaded docs on the wiki have?
any good responses for pics good? for a neg block? here is what was said in the 2ac:
Infinite regression: -the CP has no reason that doesn’t solve case and they get a linear risk of a DA to coerce. This forces the Aff into a corner when against a PIC. It isn’t competition, it’s clear abuse to the aff.
Time Skew: Moots the 1AC speech time and renders debate onto a semantics debate about the validity of small details different between the CP and plan. They get the neg block and the ability to kick out of positions, which by themselves moot aff response times, add a PIC on top of that and it’s, again, clear signs of affirmative abuse.
Education: Gets to the point where Depth is ridiculous, focuses on a trivial details no longer matter and the debate goes in circles. It allows the neg to advocate for different positions while also having access to their K, DA, T, etc. It isn’t fair that the Aff wastes time debating against itself.
Strategy skew: We get no offense off of 90% of our case. Forces us to Debate ourselves while the Neg gets other off case positions. It leads to poor strategy models where the Neg can overload the Aff by using PICs and hoping the Aff drops something or contradicts itself. The fact that they only read a few cards for both of their CPs proves this. They don’t need to read inherency or solvency because those CP parts, ARE THE SAME EXACT PARTS OF THE AFF PLAN.
This is a Voter for Fairness and education.
how do i respond against this?
Remember the posts like a year ago detailing a tournament, what happened in it and how I did? Yeah I did those. I decided to lock in and actually work on myself and my skills rather than complain about it on reddit (also my coach told me to stop lol)
This season has been a weird one. It's the first time I've ever had a panic attack, I've lost friends, but I've seen some decent success. In fact, this last tournament qualifies me for 2-speaker state! I'm absolutely thrilled!
I think I have around a 75% chance of actually going to state though, because my partner doesn't want to do debate anymore, and the partner I went with yesterday is graduating early. Which is kinda unfortunate. There are around 2 other people I can realistically partner with, but we'll have to see how this turns out. Especially since my coach wants me in 4 speaker, and I need to qualify in the regional tournament.
Overall, this season has been okay, I think I see this season being a big one for me. My goal in policy is to win state. And in kansas, especially in 3-2-1A, thats pretty hard! I think its possible though!
Good afternoon everyone, for context, I live in a rural, lay circuit, but I know how to run K's and I'm interested in doing so. The only problem is that a lot of the K's like Cap, Neoliberalism, and Set Col are all politically progressive K's that judges are going to vote against every single time. So what are some right-win K's I can run?
so I'm trying to minimize the lag in my master file. it has over 800,000 words and I don't know how to stop the lag. it isn't my computer. any tips?
Can someone tell me about Green Tech. Is it good and is there lots to back it up? What would Neg run?
Confused on how the counterplan is good for spark
I’m currently a senior and a public forum debater who has done pretty well on the national circuit and I’m planning to do college policy next year. What are some things I can do during this season to help better ease the transition? Some specific problem areas / things that I can work on are 1. Speed (I feel like I’ve maxed out at around 280 wpm and can’t get past it) 2. Ability to answer more obscure kritikal argumentation. While I would generally consider myself to be pretty good on progressive argumentation by pf standards, since policy debaters will generally tend to have a lot more experience with these arguments and answering good versions of them, I think I still have a long way to go. 3. Just in general the prep differential between PF and Policy / the different types of argumentation are. What are some general or more specific drills / things I can be doing to prepare myself to do well on the college policy circuit?
i’m the 1n/2a and like can’t give these speeches well. i just do all off except t in 1nr, but my 2ars are so bad. what would yall do? we’re running shopsafe
i’m a jv middle school debater and idrk the whole idea of this. do we all have the same res??? mines ab intellectual property.
I need help finding a good case. I’m a 4th year debater and last year was my first time at state. This year has been a struggle to find a case that feels like me. I need to go to state again and need a strong case. For the past 3 years I’ve had cases that involve climate change in some way shape or fashion. Currently I have a China Theft case with a Space Race Advantage and Tech Leadership advantage with both impacts being Global War. I’ve had a China Bashing DA ran on me and it’s been my reason for losing the round. What should I do? Should I look at maybe try to edit the China Theft, or potentially look at a Green Tech Patent, even though it’s a novice case?
I'm a varsity debater earning silver gavel at the state level, and I thought "why not?" and signed up for congress. I figured congress was fairly close to policy, and I thought about asking the congress people ar my school how to compete, but they don't know anything and suck. I figure someone here has done congress as a policy debate, and I'm looking for tips. I figured that asking someone in congress wouldn't fly well because they use a different lingo, and I need to know how to debate in congress as a policy debater. Hence, why I asked on this subreddit.
How do you beat a K AFF?
When should the affirmative impact filter be read? In the 2AC? The card that says that the DA solves the impacts of the aff because a technologically advanced US deters conflicts from escalating before they even start.
Does anyone have any recordings or can recommend good videos of T-USFG vs K Affs or Framework 2AR's vs Kritiks?
I'm a second year debater in a fairly Kritik dominant circuit (like 30% of the rounds are KvK/Policy). I've never lost a Policy round and I've gone pretty deep in tournaments, but I almost always lose to Kritik teams. I understand all of the generic framework arguments (clash and fairness) but I'm not able to materialize it in the 2AR/1NR, plus my partner is pretty bad, so I think watching and flowing some 2AR/2NR framework/T-USFG rounds will definitely help me.
Any general tips are also appreciated!
How do you go for Spark and how do you win it
I’m a second year policy debater and I need to go to state again. I went last year by only a fluke and now I have an entirely new partner that’s a theater kid that isn’t autonomous and needs me to write her speeches in round. This is also her first year. We need to go to state but we are genuinely cooked as a team and to top it off, our school is poor and can’t afford to go to tournaments every weekend. We literally have like either one or two tournaments before districts. So what I ask is for advice and specifically debate drills and techniques that ya’ll use to get better. One aspect of debate I need to heavily work on are the rebuttals. Any drills on those?
Me and my partner have done this for three years and we both are trying to get out of it. However I coach said she won’t take us out and is gonna just keep signing us up for stuff because we’re gonna do great. So what me and my partner have decided is just that we will run nothing but joke args and lose every single round. So if anyone has any good gag files please let me know.
For feedback i got that i should’ve done 5 minutes of severance.. confused on how id make something that takes 30 seconds into 5 minutes
im a sophomore and its my first year of varsity after being a novice last year, I didn't go to debate camp and have not seriously practiced debate at all or created an aff and I only just now rejoined the debate team after personal reasons earlier this year. what can I do to get better fast before the next tournament (probably gbx) or should I just give up
Any aff ideas for debate? It’s my first time debating with my new partner and the affirmative we made everyone already has answers to it. ANY ADVICE TO UNIQUE AFF PLS ?!?!
Hi! I was curious and wanted to see if there are special things BESIDES computers/chargers, money, snacks, pens, or paper copies. Personally, I bring medicine for other teammates, cough drops, a lint roller, and a collapsible podium to every tournament. What do you bring?
