I worked on set for a play that my college performed when I was a freshman, and for the life i can’t remember the name or a whole lot about it, just that I saw it many times and really like it!
The play opens with the main character, a black woman being Interviewed on a 60s talk-show, and talking about her life and the glamour. I believe there are other actors with her, but I’m not sure.
The play then goes back a couple years, and the main character is a maid or assistant for a famous (white) actress, who I believe is in a lot of movies as a very glamorous actress character . The lead dreams of being an actress, and uses her position working for the woman to meet people in the industry.
Here’s where my memory gets hazy: At one point, I’m pretty sure the lead is cast in a “gone with the wind”-esque movie where she plays the “black maid” stereotype character. I think the white woman gets jealous, and the lead gets cast in more movies?
I do know that at the end it’s revealed that the two woman are actually cousins, and the famous actress is mixed and “white passing”.
The show obviously deals with race, and I don’t really remember a lot of the nuances and plot, so I’m hoping to find it to refresh my memory! I saw it in 2014, so it was written anytime before that! Thank you!
Not gonna lie. Kinda glad I’m not the only one look good for a specific play on here. Anyway, it’s one I was practicing to perform in high school on my forensics team. Don’t remember the title. Something about a young boy and girl who hate each other. They meet at an old tree a lot. Eventually fall in love. It’s so vague, I know. If you think you know, please do tell. Thank you.
I'm sorry, but I'm about to give you a very bad description of a play I saw probably over 5 years ago when I was in college. The play involved a small cast, maybe 3 people where two brothers are together. I believe one committed a crime but he's mentally disabled and the brother smothers him with a pillow to protect him from being put in jail? And there was a dream in where sandman or marshmallow man (for some reason I remember the word marshmallow) comes in a dream. This was a horrible description...
I have the physical copy of a play called Lion In The Streets, but due to this quarantine situation, one of my class mates who ordered it on Amazon a week ago still hasn't received it yet and I'm just trying to be a good bro.
Anyone know where I can find an online PDF or free version for them to read while they wait for the copy to be delivered so they don't have to panic read it in a week?

I've been searching all over for a copy of the script to this show, but to no avail. I'd like to read it, because I'm doing a monologue from it for class, and it helps to have context. Any advice would be helpful.
I'm really into plays lately, and would like to read some of your all-time favorite plays. And probably will right an analysis essay on it, if that helps to suggest anything.
Thanks a lot!
So, while back I remember reading a few things done who I believe was Chekhov. Anyway, the Play was literally about a peasant boy with a talking dog who could impersonate anyone, it got him into trouble. And he had to rescue a princess or something to prove his worth and be declared a hero?
What do you think Georgie’s zodiac sign is
What are some three to five-person plays? Criteria: Mainly or All-female cast, cheap licensing, full length or long one-act. (Over 75 minutes). Public Domain plays are good too.
Or anything like a woman in power who may be questionably unethical.
Cheers!
I'm interested in plays where some or all characters are animals or animal like. I know there is The Moors, Sylvia, and Cagebirds. Any others you've found?
So as an assignment for my acting class, my teacher wants me to do a scene where my character either has a physical or mental limitation (such as a limp, mental illness, other limitations that show through the character...). I would love any published play recommendations that you know of where a character has these traits! (Looking specifically for a female role) Thank you!
Looking for a 1 man show, monologue, or book that has a gut wrenching climax. If you guys have any suggestions drop down below
Can anyone help me find the version of Dracula (play, but I want the script page), where I think it’s Renfield, but like he hears voices and then along with the voices, he yells, I FEEL IT IN MY BLOOD! Please help me find the script or even just the page.
I am looking for a pdf of a collection of plays called the Bully Plays. It is available at dramaticpublishing.com but the shipping fees to Canada (where I am located) are insane. Does anybody have any idea where I could get a pdf version of this collection? I am looking specifically for a play called the Bystander Blues.
Would anyone know how I’d get a copy? Kindle edition doesn’t work for me, paperback comes far to late for the audition. Thanks in advance.
Does anybody happen to have a PDF for the play Saltwater Moon? It’s a Newfoundland Play by David French and I’m hoping to use it for a last minute audition tomorrow (oops). I’ve done it before but don’t remember it very well.
