This small things started to grow on my pineapple slices that I stored in the fridge 40h ago. What can it be?
After my last post I moved the pineapple to a partially shaded corner of my yard where it did amazingly for the rest of the summer and early fall.
I moved it indoors once the overnight lows were in the 50s and got an HLG 65 V2 4000K on a timer. It just surprised me with this when I went to water it this morning!
The plant is a little over 2 years old, we received it as a housewarming gift in September/October 2022.
The fruit is about to ripen soon. The entire fruit is golden and if I move my nose close I could smell the distinct pineapple smell. But I haven't seen any pups growing yet. Do I just have to start a new one with the top once the fruit is harvested?
Hey everyone first post here. I was looking for help with my pineapple plant.
I grew this plant from the top of a store bought pineapple, and it has been with me for about two years. I water the pineapple once a week, and lightly mist it daily due to the dry climate where I live.
I live in zone 4a, and the weather here is quite cool, but the plants are kept near an air vent which keeps them warm (away from the blower so they aren’t dried out.
Once every month or two I fertilize the plant with used coffee grounds.
I went on a vacation for about two weeks where the plant wasn’t watered, and since then noticed what you can see in the picture. Some leaves have become wavy, while the ends of some of them have turned dark brown (I have seen light brown before and trimmed, but never dark brown). Is there anything I should be concerned about, or should I just “rehab” with returning to my watering schedule?
Thanks!
bought it last week and i usually give it a week or so to ripen so it’s nice sweet and juicy. never seen this before.. it might look like mold but i was looking at other pictures but white stuff can be normal. do i throw it away?
Not sure why, could it be from the cold weather? Or a nutrient problem?
As the title says. The white stuff seems like a fungus. I've wiped it off several times, it keeps coming back.
The browning is new 😞 but the pale spot have been there a long time, I assumed they were insect damage.
I’ve been growing pineapples in Indiana for years. Always the usual indoor/outdoor cycle with the winter bloom and summer fruit — but this year I was surprised. Late fall I had another bloom. Looks like we’re having a little fresh pineapple in February!
Had this top in water and sunlight for a month now and barely has any roots showing. I’ve propagated one top and just following the same methods. Any advice on this? Is it too late?
I can't wait to try my 1st pineapple. It is pretty much completely yellow and there is an ever so sweet smell if I get right next to it, however not as sweetas I was expecting. Will it hurt to/should I leave it another week or two and will it continue to ripen or is it ready?
Had my first pineapple in probably 18 months today. Perfectly ripe! Can't believe I forgot how good these are.
Have a nice day!
Penelope Spike (named by my granddaughter) has now entered the next stage of her independence. She has the cutest little root buds. (Don’t worry, she fully consented to me sharing her pic) I’m a proud pineapple grandma!
I’m trying to harvest my pineapple before it gets too cold but it’s still too green. Any tips to speed it up?
So it has started yellowing over the last week. Due to a cold snap and the fruit ripening I've moved it indoors to protect it. Really anticipate trying my first homegrown pineapple! About how much longer will it take to fully ripen?
I bought this 2 days ago and it's been on my counter since then. It doesn't look too bad but the brown spots concern me. It smells good and the little bite I took tasted fine. I figured I would see what other people thought!
