I posted this plant 6 months ago when it was fresh in the ground

Already trying to make fruit 😎 I need to transplant all 5 of them to larger pots with some fresh nutrients ❤️

Almost a year later for my strange pineapple plant.

So 260+ days ago I posted the below:

After another winter has passed and it’s looking even stranger.

AZ at 11 weeks.

My Azores crown + pup at 11+ weeks. The crown itself was drilled, likely intentionally to keep folks like you and me from propagating.

Excited because the pup is off to the races and crown seems to be growing. Fingers crossed I can keep the pup going and to fruit (someday). Currently have it in a weak hydroponic solution, crown/pup exposed but roots with light block.

Addiction.

Are everyone allergic to pineapple to some extent?

Or is it just me? I love pineapple but can't eat any or I'll get a reaction

Update on the pineapple with a drilled in crown. Any chance of it making a pup since it can’t grow otherwise?

Despite the destroyed crown, I decided to try and root it anyway. At least I knew it couldn’t get crown rot this time. I was just about to throw it away when I saw roots forming. And the lower ends on the leaves have noticeably greener. Any chance that it can make a pup since it can’t do anything else without an intact crown?

Growing a crown

How much should I water once I plant a crown? I know established pineapple plants don't require much water, but what about before the crown sprouts roots? Should I keep the soil damp until it starts ro take root, or keep it on the dryer side like you would an established plant?

How long can you leave the stem dried before it wont root?

Reading a guide that says to dry the stem or crown out for a few days to prevent mold. Just wondering if its possible to leave it dry out for to long?

Great White part ii; the frog that was living here has moved a few plants down-it sleeps in the crown during the day.

Had ordered some tropical fruits for both the taste and a chance to propagate a pineapple, since the store once always have a rotting growth point in their crown. Does this one look purposely cut out?

Fertilizing an already flowering pineapple?

So i planted a pineapple I got from a friend some months ago. It just started flowering.

I haven’t fertilized it at all. Surprised it’s even still alive.

I’m wondering if it’s even worth fertilizing now that’s it’s flowering? If so, how should I?
