was in the mood for some dollar tree dopamine and came across these!! gonna try later tonight after dinner. (:
Little red wagon is a must
Let me start this by establishing my credentials. I am a pickle FIEND. I once survived a whole week eating only pickles. I sweat and pissed pickles.
Above all else, I am a poor pickle lover and I’ve been eating generic brands, Vlasic, and Mt. Olive my whole life. Recently, I’ve decided that I’m worth it and to spend a little extra money to try new brands. Enter Grillos. I’ll never forget trying them the first time, I ate the entire thing in one sitting. I thought I had reached nirvana. I swear I spoke to Jesus after that first delicious crunch. They’re crunchy, garlicky, vinegary. They were so vinegary, they practically grew hands and slapped me across the face. I told every person in my life about them. I’ve been eating them for a while now and trying all the different kinds.
I then joined this sub and saw a post about Grillos. I was elated, I couldn’t wait to see people sing their praises. Instead, some people were commenting “I like Claussen WAY better” “I prefer Claussen”. I was SHOOK. You mean I haven’t reached the top of the mountain yet?! I IMMEDIATELY went to Meijer and bought a jar. I’ll never forget how excited I was, I couldn’t wait to reach the summit. I remember opening the jar, tears streaming down my face, and biting into the CHEWIEST pickle. Puzzled, I then sipped the juice. These were on par with generic pickles. Where was the umph? Where was the religious experience? You’re telling me that people would LIE? On the Internet?! People lie on the internet?!? I still ate the whole jar because why would I let any pickles go to waste. I found that some of the pickles were semi crunchy and the rest were floppy and chewy.
Anyways. I’d like compensation from the internet for this disappointment. I take PayPal or Venmo.
I also would still like recommendations on pickle brands better than Grillos and if they meet my Queenly standards, I will trust this subs taste again.
I've seen a ton of pickle beer related threads lately. This is the first one i am able to contribute to. What a delightful change of pace. It's subtlety pickley and the spice is only there on the deep chugs. I'd give it and 8/10. Beer was purchased at total wine in henderson Nevada.
Recently tried claussen pickles for the first time, but I really was craving some more acidity so I just added a quarter cup of 5% vinegar to the brine. I assume it’ll take some time to absorb, but now i’m wondering if that wasn’t the best idea…
These have a lot going on at first bite then mellow out into a slightly sour and flavorful pickle. Texture is a little meh but I like the flavor.
When they
I could eat a jar full in one sitting
My new hyper fixation snack! Dill triscuits, cottage cheese and a hot pickle. Grillo’s are the GOAT but not nearly enough heat
When I reached in for the cream and saw that unopened jar of ice cold pickles ❤️
I’ve seen so many! I need to narrow down what’s good/worth buying
Got this at the state fair last year. Absolutely phenomenal
I’ve had them probably a few times a month for years and this behemoth came out today! It’s not interesting but I had to share with someone lol. They’re usually really uniform.
There was a brewery running special pickle gose and the pizza joint next door was part of the deal with t white pickle pizza. Still to this day the best pickle pizza I’ve had and can’t find anything remotely close to it since
So I saw this at Walgreens (AZ). I thought sure I will try them. They were not refrigerated. I buy the Oh Snap hot package all the time so I thought I’d compare.
Price: similar, $1.49 Taste: Oh Snap significantly better Crunch: No comparison. Oh snap. Brine: The only thing better here imo. Prob 3/4 X the amount of brine in Suckerpunch. Still not as tasty though. Weight: Suckerpunch was about a half oz more. Probably due to the brine.
So maybe a change up on snack pickles on the go give this one a chance but I still prefer the Oh Snap.
Tried it on some buttered sourdough. Topped with special sauce. Very good pickle dill flavor.
