my friends and I are meeting in Pasadena (i live here), its a halfway point for both of my friends. we are looking for a brunch spot not necessarily upscale but has mimosas(endless would be good), with yummy food and does not feel corporate or that we have to rush out of there. We like to take our time and chat. We want to either hangout there or have the opportunity to walk around in the area after our meal. any ideas? I was thinking the Raymond but the food is meh for the price of that place, plus there is nothing else around there. It does not have to be supper fancy
So I was overseas for 2 years and just got back about 2 weeks ago, one of most important reason to get back is because I want to vote in this upcoming election in person.
I remember for sure I registered to vote online when I was overseas and my registered mailing address did received an official voting document, but then somehow they lost it.....
So my question is, can I just show up at my polling place with my drivers license and just vote since I am already registered? Or I can't do that because I need to bring the document which is lost?
I am looking for some more affordable alternatives to Petsadena. Every time I take my cat in they suggest inordinately expensive tests that don't make sense. Yesterday I was charged $600 for bloodwork, and next week they want $1k for heart tests that are totally optional. I just can't afford it anymore. Any recommendations?
Anyone have a spare copy? I hit up ten places across the city today looking for a copy of today’s paper and they were all sold out by 9am 😅 thanks for any help!
best place to trick or treat?
I have some antiques laying around that I don't want anymore. I'm not sure what their value is, if anything. Has anyone found a good person/business that does appraisals, consignment, purchasing? Thanks!
Hi all!
Searched old threads but this was last brought up 3 years ago. I'm looking for recommendations for sushi-grade fish in the Pasadena and nearby areas. Frozen to meet sushi grade, but not yet filleted also okay.
Thanks so much in advance!
So I've been a FlyAway enthusiast for a while now. I haven't flown on my own dime (aka not ubering to LAX) since I moved to Pasadena and want to plan right. I also haven't used the Union FlyAway before. I'm pretty confident I can get the timing right, but does anyone have any experience taking the Blue Line to Union and then the FlyAway to LAX? Any pitfalls or things to watch out for? Aim for an earlier FlyAway than the one I'd expect? Union-specific problems with the FlyAway? etc. I'd be taking a carryon and a backpack, so no major bulk to deal with.
My friends and I are so lost on what we should do for halloween. Any recommendations?
Was walking my dog though Singer Park recently. By the bathrooms in the SW corner were a couple of parked trucks from city landscaping/maintenance. Leaning over the hood of a truck was a dude loudly saying on his phone/radio, I'm guessing back to the mothership, "No no no! JRC, Singer, and the rock."
In context, don't have to be Einstein, er, Feynman to figure "JRC" is the Jackie Robinson Community Center. But what's the Rock?
Moving apartments in South Pas this week! My father in law already got a ticket for not having an overnight parking pass, which we have now gotten, but we are renting a Uhaul trailer (the kind that hitch to your car, not the big moving trucks) for the next two days in order to move some larger furniture.
Does anyone know what the laws are when it comes to parking with a hitched trailer? I figured it'd be no big deal, and we'd find an empty parking lot nearby and just park there for the night. But after this ticket, we are a little more on edge. Thanks for any help!
Hey all!!
I used to play badminton when pcc badminton club had an open gym, but that seems to not be happening anymore ): been driving to el monte to play at labc but its annoying distance wise.

Anyone have any recommendations for rooftops in Pasadena? I have friends coming out of town. Appreciate any leads. LET'S GO DODGERS!
Celebrating our anniversary tonight and would appreciate some recommendations.
I'd like to stay within a budget of $200-250.
We enjoy all kinds of food so were open to any recommendations.
Id like a place that offers space and don't cramp you in like sardines.
TIA
Apparently a group of Mongols showed up at Rocco's Saturday afternoon and someone got stabbed.
Anyone have any additional info? That place USED to be my favorite hangout.
Looking for recommendations on family friendly country clubs / members-only clubs in Pasadena / Altadena / La Canada —- ideally on the younger side. Brand new to the area and looking to build community.
Bonus points if the facilities have tennis, fitness center AND kids club (onsite daycare/sitters).
Love the Athenaeum but lacks in the fitness and kid clubs department.
Any personal trainer recommendations in Pasadena? Specifically someone with experience with clients with scoliosis and hypermobility?
I’ve been doing physical therapy and it’s mostly Pilates based, but now that I’m doing better I’d like to incorporate weight training as well (safely) and don’t know where to start.
Hi all - we are new to town.
Pasadena has great parks! Do any have climbing walls for kids? I'd like my little guy to start trying some!
Hit me with your best spots! Doesn’t have to be a steakhouse. Bonus points if it comes with a nice Bearnaise sauce… :-)
I’m going to be touring a unit here, but can’t seem to find any information on the address aside from well, the address. It’s an older building from the 1960s. Large complex, not renovated. Priced accordingly.
Anyone lived here or know anyone who lived here recently? What feedback have you got?
On my way out the door of the North Lake CVS, a man stopped me and asked for help. He said he is from West Africa, was dropped off by a taxi and wanted to know the name of the big street (Lake). He was looking for an address and showed me an index card hand-written with a street address and $500 -- the receipt he said the taxi driver gave him. Then he opened his backpack and pulled out a roll of $100 bills the size of a large soup can. That's when I walked away. I wish I had thought to offer to call a police officer to help him out. Has anyone else encountered this man?
Does anyone know what happened on the corner of Del Mar and Raymond today around 3:15pm? I was driving by and saw a gray sedan facing the wrong direction and in the wrong lane creep up to a black SUV that was trying to go. The black SUV honked their horn but the gray sedan just settled inches in front of it. After I had passed it I saw in my mirror that the passenger of the SUV had gotten out but whoever was driving the sedan was staying in their car. It was so weird.
I just got a flat by hitting the curb at Lake while entering on-ramp. The curb is black with rubber from previous incidents. Has any one else hit this? Is it a known issue?
Hi guys, I’m planning to travel internationally soon with my cats and apparently I need to obtain a passport with all the details for each of my cats. I stopped by local vet clinic to enquire how much would that be and the lady at the reception looked at me like I was speaking gibberish. She said they don’t carry passports.
Has anyone ever obtained a passport and all the vaccines for the international travel with your pet?
Maybe you can recommend a vet where I can get passports and do all the check ups?
Indian community of Pasadena!
My wife and I are looking to find some local Diwali get-togethers or community events to celebrate. We recently moved to the area and would love to connect with people, join any festivities, and be part of the celebration.
If anyone knows of events or even just great spots to enjoy the Diwali vibe, please let us know! We’d love to join in, make some new friends, and bring in the festival together.
Need not be Indian of course (like myself) if interested in joining, please don’t hesitate to DM. Oh, and if there’s any Halloween / Diwali hybrid events given the timing, totally down.
I have an old photo of this same area/building but I can't figure out what is this building - or what it might have been used for in the 1930s - 1940s. Below is the link to Google Maps Thanks for any help.
Non alcoholic cloudy cider that you typically get at a farm stand or farmer’s market - has anyone seen this in the area?
Hi everyone! My partner and I will be moving to Pasadena sometime in early January 2025 so that he can attend school in the area.
I know it’s a little early, but I am checking rentals on Craigslist, fb marketplace, Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com almost daily. I am hoping to engage a local rental agent to assist in the search as we are located out of town currently. Does anyone have recommendations for a good rental agent?
In case it is helpful, we are looking for a 1 bedroom, 500+ sq feet that allows small dogs. Would love to keep it under $2,300.
