Palo Alto schools, while known for their excellence and high academic standards, also cause high amounts of stress that, in combination with raging hormones, can be volatile for young teens. If you or someone you know is going through depression, I encourage you to seek help over at:

There is a despicable individual driving an EXTREMELY LOUD car every night at 3:45am Mon-Fri, and then a couple times every Saturday morning at 6 or 7am. The exhaust pipe is specifically built to maximize noise. You can feel the noise in your chest as he's passing by.
He starts at 3:45am on Otterson Ct, takes a left on Colorado Ave, left again on W Bayshore Rd, right on Oregon Expy, then 101 South. The noise can be heard clearly all this time until he's on 101 past San Antonio. Keeping the windows closed does not help.
The lack of sleep caused by the noise has made my mental health worse at a time when I was struggling to find a job. I am still affected by it. Many families must be affected the same way in the area, and elsewhere.
The driver was made aware of the problems he's creating, and that has changed nothing.
When dealing with similar issues in the past, I was told repeatedly by the police that there is nothing they are willing to do. Those cases were solved by making the drivers aware of the distress they were causing. This one is different, he ignores the feedback.
In the long run, voting out the leadership (police chief, etc) who are responsible for doing nothing about excessive noise in the community might improve things. I will get involved in that.
But what can be done here and now? This needs to stop now.
I’m in the process of relocating in or near Palo Alto and am finding it challenging to secure housing from a distance. For context, I have excellent credit and 3x or more the monthly gross income of the places I’ve inquired about.
I’m being a bit picky in hoping for at 2 bedroom house with a yard for our dogs, but after a month of searching, sending applications, etc., I’ve found nothing. Realtors and owners don’t seem very keen to work with potential renters who aren’t able to visit the property, which I understand.
Any tips on finding a place? I’ve mostly been using Zillow and Craigslist.

My friend and I want to take a full moon hike tonight. I’m not really sure where to go, as most of the places I frequent close at sunset. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe some random trail entrance off skyline or something (hopefully I can find it). Thanks!
I posted this on facebook a couple weeks ago and so many people reached out with questions about the program that I quickly realized that it is not well known.
This CALHFA (California Housing Finance Agency) program is NOT for everyone but if you fit the box and win the assistance it can be a GREAT opportunity! Let me break it down for you and help answer any questions you may have.
Anyone remember the Milk Pail by Mountain View Walmart? Wonderful produce market. Looks like COVID knocked them out sadly.
Any alternatives?
Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place to post (feel free to delete) but we have been struggling to reach our target audience - I am part of a group at Stanford University designing a product to help expecting mothers deal with stress during pregnancy, labor, & post-birth.
If you are pregnant, have been pregnant in the past few years, or know someone who fits either criteria, please come participate in our (very informal!!) focus group (or tell the person you know about it), we would absolutely love if you could come participate this Sunday, 3pm, @ the Stanford d.school.
To celebrate & say thank you, we will be taking professional-quality photos in the spring sunshine afterwards, in case you need a new LinkedIn profile picture, or a sweet snapshot with your baby. This is also a chance to get to know other recent moms/moms-to-be in the area, chat about shared experiences, and offer each other advice! Snacks & drinks will also be provided :)
If you're interested but can't make it, please still fill the RSVP form below so we can arrange something at another time, as any insight is valuable to us. My team recognizes the immense toll that pregnancy & nurturing a baby takes on the mind & body, and we are very passionate about creating a product that actually makes life a little easier for moms everywhere. We hope you can help us out with our study as we can't do it without the feedback of the moms themselves!

I was thinking of getting a lease either here in Palo Alto or SF. I'm in PA right now and noticing that it's hard to meet people since all the meetups happen in SF and since I'm a founder, I don't have the chances to meet people through work / university. For some reason, I had this bias that since "Silicon Valley" is in this region, I'd somehow magically meet people (so delusional of me).
... any thoughts? ^_^
p.s. shameless plug but if your in the area and you like reading, hiking, or deep discussions, feel free to send me a hi in the DM :)
EDIT: thanks everyone, it seems I have made a big mistake, SF it is, gonna miss the sun and heat tho. don't be ignorant like me and read the comments before before making your choice!
So its been coming up on 5 years since I've been to PA, and the surrounding areas (lived in Sunnyvale) and am wanting to take a trip to sorta walk down memory lane and make some new memories.
I used to work at Chantal Guillon before it closed (in the summer of 2019) and loved the area, and the people. I didn't really get to get out much with my partner at the time and would love some recommendations of where to go and sights to see.
I already know Stanford both the mall and the university are on my list, but can anyone give me any others??
I’ll be moving to Palo Alto and working at Stanford Hospital in June. Does anyone have recommendations for apartment complexes that would allow me to be within 10-15 minutes driving distance in a 1bed/1bath that’s also affordable? Ideally I’d like to spend less than 3,000 on rent + utilities.
Places I was looking at were Atherton Park Forest and Wellsbury Apartment Homes if anyone also has any insight into those places.
Thanks in advance!
I’ll be living at the VA hospital while I undergo trans-cranial magnetic stimulation. But that’s only for 7 minutes a day. I’d love to explore the city, find somewhere to swim, and go running. I’d love to meet any of you.
What are the best apartments near University Ave? I work in tech remote. I want to be near Stanford and University Ave. I was looking for a number of days in person and online. It seems The Marc looks good, but I didn't get to see that one in person. Would love to hear recommendations. Thanks in advance. Looking to move out there soon for a year.
For months now, I’ve been noticing large groups of men hanging out next to the old Bank of West building on California Ave. They seem to all drive Prius or similar and park in the lot next to the building. Are they doordashers?
Hi everyone - just curious... if you have a single family home with a basement, have you had problems with cracks, leaks, other issues? My house doesn't have a basement, but the dirt/clay around here expands and contracts with the seasons and causes minor problems. Our back patio is warped (prior one cracked), we have some superficial cracks in plaster/drywall, and it's noticeable in the way that doors scrape the floor a little at some times of year, or they go out of alignment by a millimeter or two. So how does it go when you have entire walls and surrounded by the clay rather than just the foundation on top of it?
Hey everyone, I’m looking to connect with other summer interns in Palo Alto.
How and where are you all finding accommodation / housing ?
So, Hey, Redditors, I’ve a serious question!
I’m a student from India and recently I got selected for Stanford and my parents are very very happy and I’m in a serious relationship with a girl and I’ve communicated with them everything openly and they’re ready for me to go and pursue higher studies there but as per I’m the only child and I’ve a very close connection with my parents, I really want to study there in Stanford but suddenly everything seems so sad and dark like the vibes have changed and I’m worried:-
• Like what if something happened to my parents?
• Like what if my GF cheated?
• safety in the US, that what if someone randomly came shot us all dead in the college!
• Is Palo Alto, safe to live ? And what is the best place to live there and what are the everyday things that I should know?
• I’m highly attached to my parents and again and again, they come up in my mind, however they really want me to go and they said it’s a very rare chance and people cry for this and you got it!
• Everything is discussed and communicated openly but still there’s a fear in me of all this and a mental turmoil I’m going through, what should I do ?
Please guide me as per I’m your own child or brother !!!!
Join Palo Alto Forward for a Homes for Everyone? YES! kickoff this Sunday, April 14 at 1 pm in Peer's Park.
If you're not already aware, housing costs a lot here because we haven't enabled enough building. Downstream effects include traffic, inequality, school closures, struggling local retail, high costs of goods and services, the unhoused, and increased GHG emissions. More housing in our city is the solution!
We are working to gather neighbors (who want to make space for new neighbors) and foster awareness to drive progress for one of our area’s most entrenched and difficult-to-fix issues, our housing crisis.
RSVP (recommended but not required) and more information on the initiative's website.
Anyone else see the ... weather balloon? ... floating North->South above highway 101? Noticed it about 6:45pm local time...
hi guys, my boyfriend and i booked a hot tub room at watercourse bay and i wanted to know everyone’s opinion and maybe advice? i’m assuming towels are provided and swimsuits are not, but that’s about all i know about this spa.
this will be my first time going! is there something i should try out? or does anyone have any recommendations on where to eat in palo alto afterwards?
thank you! :)
Might be a long shot but I recently gotten 2 parking tickets and im so over the city of Palo Alto. Only paid for one but not paying for the second because I contested it for getting me at a garage in downtown that was for free parking for 3 hours and was tagged for only 2 hours. Anyone got somewhere I can park and not have to go to far? I hate moving my car every few hours especially since I work in downtown and my breaks are basically just to move my car unfortunately. I understand I can get a parking permit but for $230+ a month or $900 a year it sure ain’t worth it. Especially since I don’t live in Palo Alto.
Any ideas will be helpful. Id even take a cheaper route for parking that isnt over $10+ a day.
Printers Cafe and Calave both closed shop recently. Does anyone know what's going to replace their space (plus the handful of other vacancies on Cal Ave)? Is there a good place to track this sort of news in general?
Thanks!
Hello! My wife and I have never seen a solar eclipse and we can’t seem to find any eclipse glasses to watch it. Could someone please spare just one? Happy to pick them up right away! Thank you!
Hi there. I was hoping to ask for some help on a legal matter. Not asking for legal advice but just hoping someone can point me to some resources.
My parents bought a home in Palo Alto last year. I won’t get into details but they way paid over the initial offered price due to information they received from their agent on an “no contingency, all cash offer” that he said was on the table from another buyer.
It turns out that their agent was price fixing with the seller’s agent and there was actually no other buyer. We have confirmed this through two different routes, so to speak.
I am heading to law school but I am not a lawyer. I’ve been doing some basic research and it seems like there is a claim here. I would like to find a reasonable local lawyer who can help them.
My parents have no ill will toward the seller / previous owner but are extremely upset at the buyers agent. I do not know what justice entails here to be honest.
Hi guys! I am doing a research about bike theft and I was wondering what is your experience with theft in Palo Alto? How was yours or your friend's bike stolen? Do you think there are enough spaces to securely lock your bike? What do you think should be done in order to improve it?
Please let me know and thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Thank you for helping :)
Hello. I am moving to PA and trying to find apartment. I toured Parker Palo Alto and it looks really great with the price ( I toured the unit near the 101 highway, so cheaper then other parts of the complex). But given the unit are really close to the highway, I'm concerned that it would be very very noisy. Does anyone have experience with them? How bad is the noise?
Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
Are security zones acceptable for Zero trust, within Palo? Or should I physically separate via physical interfaces ?
We plan on using 3 physical interfaces (Outside, DMZ, LAN) and 4 logical networks off of LAN.
Should we purchase a larger firewall with more physical ports? Or multiple security zones off of the physical LAN int?
Thanks
