Sheep head

I’m trying really hard to find a place to buy Lamb, Beef, and Sheep head.

It has a lot of nutrition. Would prefer humanely raised and reliable. Not diseased. Also experience processing this part of the meat.

Thank you so much. If you have any experience with this.

Could be a butcher, market, or farm. In person or online.

Sweet potato toast: air fryer vs. oven

I miss toast so much. I heard sweet potato toast could be a good option but soggy.

I understand it won't have the same crunch as toast but would making them in the air fryer or oven be more crunchy?

I know that something like cucumbers can be another option but sweet potatoes are similar size as toast.

PS - to store slices for future use, would I store uncooked slices in the freezer or should I make them first and then store them?

Paleo Smoothie

I am looking to make smoothies that are made with fresh fruit, herbs and/or spices, and/or veggies. One of the smoothies is for paleo diet. Is it something that is sought after for people on the paleo diet? I'm in the starting stages so I definetly need to understand the ins and outs. Just as an example, would you pay $7 for a 12 ounce smoothie using natural ingredients only and having lots of health benefits. Smoothie would be pasteurized to extend shelf life and eliminate any bacteria. If you have any comments or suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Anyone here on combination IF/Paleo or OMAD/Paleo diet? If so, I'd love to hear about it.

Also, I'm a huge reader and would love to hear what books/resources (videos, etc.) you'd recommend. I'm particularly interested in cookbooks. I'm pretty new to IM (been doing OMAD for a little over a month with very good results, and I love it!), and besides the books from Dr. Jason Fung, which I'm familiar with, assume I know nothing. I've never tried a Paleo diet, but I'm thinking about it, and I'm curious to hear what you all think (pros, cons, personal experience with a Paleo/IM/OMAD diet, etc.). Also, in general, I'm also happy for any recommendations you can give me for good books/resources/personal experiences/anecdotes more generally that I should know about for IF, OMAD, and Paleo more generally, and any other personal suggestions you may have. Thanks a ton, everyone!

New member

Hello, new to this sub, not new to Paleo. I am specifically looking for recipes for snacks. I do not wish to buy snacks, I want to make my own. I don't like anything spicy. I love Paleo approved nuts, fruits, etc. I favor local raw honey as a sweetener if needed. Im willing to prepare and bake something, so that's not a problem.

Oreo cookies with real ingredients + mushrooms

https://preview.redd.it/3ow6xz3bbig61.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4b6e178e1dec4377aa68adeb8033ed86adafa00

Servings: 6 cookie sandwiches
Prep time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30-32 minutes

Ingredients for homemade paleo Oreo cookies

  • 8 TB almond flour
  • 4 TB chocolate protein powder*
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1 tsp Real Mushrooms Chaga powder
  • 2 TB almond butter
  • 3 TB softened coconut oil (or MCT OIL)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1-2 TB water (if needed to help the batter stick together better)
  • 1/3 softened coconut butter (for the icing)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix your almond flour, protein powder (if using), cacao powder, Chaga, and salt.*
  4. Add the almond butter and softened coconut oil. If needed, add a bit of water to help the batter stick together – but it shouldn’t be too sticky. If you accidentally add too much and the batter is sticky, just stick in the refrigerator for 5 minutes to make it easier to work with.
  5. Before rolling out your dough, taste it and adjust the sweetness level to your preference. If you want it sweeter, add your favorite sweetener.
  6. Roll dough between two sheets of wax paper until about 1/4” in thickness.
  7. Use a cookie cutter (or mason jar lid, or rim of a glass) to cut about 12 circles. (Number of circles will vary depending on the size of your cookie cutter.)
  8. Bake on a lined cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Let the cookies cool before you touch them or apply the icing.
  10. Once the cookies have cooled, place a large spoonful of softened coconut butter on half of the baked cookies. Smoosh the other half of the cookies on top and enjoy!!
  11. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. Or alternatively, freeze them if you want to keep them longer.

This ultimate healthy hot chocolate is rich, thick, and naturally dairy-free. Our low-sugar recipe has the added immune support of 5 different mushroom extracts to keep those winter colds away.

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 1/4 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (such as coconut or almond)

Mushroom Pumpkin Spice Latte

https://preview.redd.it/set5g7car5a61.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e59ef655e5b66ee53c3001386448c70ea3f2ccbf

Most pumpkin spice lattes tend to have an exorbitant amount of artificial ingredients, preservatives, and sugar. And we get it, it’s easy to love that satisfying taste! But you know who else loves and feeds off too much sugar? Colds and sickness.

The great part is, you don’t have to sacrifice taste, and you don’t have to sacrifice health. You can have the best of both worlds: Your pumpkin spice and your immune health too!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (we used almond milk)
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee
  • 1 TB pumpkin puree
  • 1 TB favorite sweetener (adjust to your preference – we used Yacon Syrup)
  • 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp Real Mushrooms Turkey Tail extract powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  • In a small saucepan, combine all your ingredients and whisk until everything is combined smoothly.
  • Taste and adjust for sweetness preference.
  • As soon as the mixture is warm, serve it up and enjoy!
  • Add whip cream if you want to get fancy.

Chaga Mole

https://preview.redd.it/70naqt2kl7861.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1918788d5bb5c47c7e61664f86ca4978a9b10d5f

A recipe for an easy paleo mole sauce that tastes like it’s been simmering all day, done in 20 minutes, and boosted with health benefits from Chaga Mushroom extract.

Ingredients for Paleo Chaga Mole

  • 1-2 TB avocado oil
  • 3-5 garlic cloves, minced (about 3 TB)
  • 1 small yellow onion chopped
  • optional: one sliced and cored jalapeño (could also use 1/2 to make it less spicy or omit altogether)
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • pinch of ground cloves
  • pinch of coriander
  • 2 TB cassava flour (to thicken)
  • 2 ¼ cups vegetable broth or bone broth
  • 2 TB of your favorite nut or seed butter (we used almond butter)
  • 1 TB tomato paste
  • 1 TB cacao powder
  • 1/2 TB Real Mushrooms Chaga Extract Powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • optional: if you like it a bit sweet, drizzle in some honey or your favorite sweetener

Directions for Paleo Chaga Mole

  1. Heat the avocado oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add your onion, garlic, and jalapeño (if using) and sauté until they’re tender. Should take about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Then add your chili powder, cinnamon, cumin, oregano, cloves, coriander, and cassava flour and mix until everything is combined.
  3. Add your broth.
  4. Add your nut butter, tomato paste, cacao powder, Chaga, and salt. Stir until combined on medium-high heat. Bring the sauce to a simmer and stir until it’s thickens a bit.
  5. Blend the mixture until it’s smooth. You can use an immersion blender or put the mixture into a blender. Be very cautious when blending, making sure the sauce has cooled to a lukewarm temperature.
  6. Carefully taste. Add your sweetener if you’d like it a bit sweet.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

My chia seed pudding lacks flavor...

Does anyone have some tips or suggestions on making my chia seed pudding more flavorful? At the moment, it just tastes like almonds and a little vanilla.

I’m trying to make this paleo and keto due to health condition food restrictions; and aside from adding a lot more cacao powder, I don’t know what to do.

I’m open to more than just chocolate flavors too.
