My friends are planning a trip to come see what I’ve only heard great things about. What time of year is the best time to visit? We are looking to enjoy the lake and the energy it has to offer
I'm curious if anyone has had a positive experience they can share. Thanks!
Haven't been to the area since I was a kid, but wife and I will be vacationing in April. Looking for suggestions on places to stay. Will be 5 or so days. We did Colorado last summer and thoroughly enjoyed just seeing the views and learning some history. Thanks in advance.
Looking for:
*reasonably economical cabin/similar *good scenery without hiking(wife doesn't walk well/far) *scenic roads/trails to enjoy(light off roading in a small truck fine) *most importantly, peace and quiet away from cities - the whole point of vacation
I am looking to cross something off my woman's bucket list, spend night under pine trees. So looking for spot, 120 miles or less from Springfield, probably in Mark Twain. We are in shape enough to carry pack for 30 minutes. Suggestion needed.
I'm interested in starting an outdoors club for guys in the Ozarks region. I have a hard time finding guys who like to do the stuff I like (fishing, hunting, camping, canoeing, backpacking, etc.), and I'm getting a little too long in the tooth to do it by myself. Always more fun with a buddy or two anyway. Ideally it would be an informal group with no dues or anything like that; just a bunch of guys who get together every so often and plan trips together. I figure that we could meet in Springfield or Branson or some such central location, maybe once a month or so. We could just get to know each other while we throw out ideas and hopefully go on some trips, either in the Ozarks or occasionally a more exotic location. I have already posted this on the Rokslide forum and I have a few guys interested, but I need more. If you like this idea, please respond and let's see if we can make something happen!
Just bought some property in the Mack’s Creek area. How do you watch the chiefs games? Does an over-the-air antennae work or do you need a streaming service? If so which one?
Thanks in advance for any information that you provide.
I see amendment 5 wants to put a casino somewhere in the Ozarks. I don’t live there BUT I don’t think it’s right I decide what another city in Missouri does. What if the majority of Ozarks’ residents don’t want this and the rest of the state just votes yes cause they don’t live there so they don’t care?
What do you all want the rest of Missouri voters to do?
Hello! This might be a stretch but any help is appreciated. My dad passed away last October and his birthday is November, I wasn’t able to give him the funeral he deserved since Im so young and he was too. He loved music and was from the lake, specifically Versailles and Im wanting to plan a celebration of life next month at some kind of bar and grill with a live band playing for him. If anyone knows of a place between Tipton and Laurie that has year round music and would let us a host a small event I’d appreciate the suggestions! TIA!
Just drove through the Ozarks and Quachita. The beauty is calling me, and I don't live too far, about 2 1/2 hours south of Broken Bow. I'm a painter and will be back soon to make a base camp and do some exploring and art. Love the Indian grass, big blue stem and vistas. I bet the morels are abundant in the spring.
Hello, very odd question -- I'm working on a worldbuilding project and part of it has three separate countries, one in the south, one in the Appalachians, and one in the Ozarks. I guess the best way I can describe my issue is "I know they're different but I don't know how or why they are."
I'm from New England so I can grasp places from and around New England, but all of my Southern experiences and connections are from Coastal AL, Atlanta, and the Northern Florida areas.
What makes the Ozarks different than "mainstream" Appalachia and other parts of the south?
Thank you.
Long story short I just heard some huffing 15-30ft from my campfire around 10pm. I’m back inside and I am alone on my 115 anchor plot. I think it was a bobcat? maybe a mountain-lion… who tf knows fuck
On a real know when is it predators are more active around this time of the year. that shit scared tf outta me
Looking for recommendations and tips for hiking/camping in the Ozark National Forest (or nearby areas). Things to bring, places to avoid, etc. I'll be using a hammock so no tent. Thanks!
