Hello! This might be a stretch but any help is appreciated. My dad passed away last October and his birthday is November, I wasn’t able to give him the funeral he deserved since Im so young and he was too. He loved music and was from the lake, specifically Versailles and Im wanting to plan a celebration of life next month at some kind of bar and grill with a live band playing for him. If anyone knows of a place between Tipton and Laurie that has year round music and would let us a host a small event I’d appreciate the suggestions! TIA!
Just drove through the Ozarks and Quachita. The beauty is calling me, and I don't live too far, about 2 1/2 hours south of Broken Bow. I'm a painter and will be back soon to make a base camp and do some exploring and art. Love the Indian grass, big blue stem and vistas. I bet the morels are abundant in the spring.
Hello, very odd question -- I'm working on a worldbuilding project and part of it has three separate countries, one in the south, one in the Appalachians, and one in the Ozarks. I guess the best way I can describe my issue is "I know they're different but I don't know how or why they are."
I'm from New England so I can grasp places from and around New England, but all of my Southern experiences and connections are from Coastal AL, Atlanta, and the Northern Florida areas.
What makes the Ozarks different than "mainstream" Appalachia and other parts of the south?
Thank you.
Long story short I just heard some huffing 15-30ft from my campfire around 10pm. I’m back inside and I am alone on my 115 anchor plot. I think it was a bobcat? maybe a mountain-lion… who tf knows fuck
On a real know when is it predators are more active around this time of the year. that shit scared tf outta me
Recently went to Onyx Cave but lost my SD card due to a cat...
More specifically, does anyone have photos/videos of Onyx Cave where you go deep into the little "pocket" on the left?
Looking for recommendations and tips for hiking/camping in the Ozark National Forest (or nearby areas). Things to bring, places to avoid, etc. I'll be using a hammock so no tent. Thanks!
I apologize, and please remove if this is not allowed.
I noticed that there are no resources specifically for those of us that hunt the Ozark mountains. I made a sub so we can exchange knowledge.
Please join if that is something that interests you.

In the ozarks for the shootout. Anyone want to hang out and have a couple cocktails?
Hi all- we are coming in for a bachelor party in mid October, staying very close to H. Toad's. We know that we're missing out on a lot of the summer fun, but the bachelor wanted to hit this area and he leans a little more golf and chill bar than raging party scene (although if there is still some of that going on in the Fall, we would be game). With that being said, are there places you would recommend in the area that would still be open in mid to late October? Bars, restaurants, etc. We are also open to suggestions on golf courses but had been looking mostly at the below. Any and all tips would be appreciated!

Non-local here but I grew up outside of St. Louis about twenty years ago. I have a faint but vivid memory of a weekend vacation to Lake of the Ozarks and going to have an ice cream at “Red Rockets”, or possibly what I called it as a child. I know from research that Andy’s Frozen Custard is from Osage Beach but I have a memory of the actual structure being a rocket ship. I’m hoping to see if this memory isn’t some crazy Mandela affect or if someone more local could point me to the history of this old ice cream shop I am looking for.
I'm falling down an Ozark folklore rabbit hole. I came across an Ozark saying, as documented by Vance Randolph, that is supposed to keep yellowjackets away. I'm seeing two different versions:
"Johnnie jizzer jacket, you can make your racket, but you can't no more sting me than the devil can count sixpence."
"Jasper whisper jacket! You can't no more sting me than the devil can count sixpence."
Anyone know anything about these sayings? Where they originated?
Anybody get sick at backwater jacks this past weekend? August 10
We had a bachelorette group of girls that went and we all seemed to get symptoms related to some type of food poisoning or something similar. Curious if others did
Was wondering where I should stay if I wanted to swim in the lake? Also if there is anything I should see in the area definitely let me know
Looking to get an Airbnb, is it safe to swim off the dock? Looking around MM 3 or so, down one of the channels.
My husband and I will be road tripping with our LO at the end of September and are thinking of stopping for the day/night somewhere to sight see the Ozarks.
Anyone have any recommendations on where to stop and for this, and what to see?
Thanks in advance!
I’m a 40 year old veteran on VA disability. I don’t need to work and able to live in any location on any lake. Looking to rent a room, single bedroom apt or condo, or possibly a communal living arrangement. Any recommendations welcome.
If you, or anyone you know would like to be a part of this project, we'd love to hear from you. We are looking for ex-employees, fans, or anyone that would like to comment on anything Burgerstation related. Please contact me at 417 429-7493 or therealmohillbilly@gmail.com.
Hello, all. My name is Tommy, and I worked at Burgerstation in Springfield, Missouri from 1985 - 1988.
With the 40th anniversary of the opening of Burgerstation next year, I've decided to create and film a documentary on the home of one of the greatest burger joints in SW MO.
This is an incredibly rural area compared to where I'm use to living. I also work from home, so it's been incredibly difficult developing a social life down here.
I am planning a bachelor trip to Osage Beach, near Lake Ozark, where I will stay on an Airbnb on the water.
For the long weekend, we have planned:
