I was WL to both these schools and was wondering which one I should send a LOI too. I’ve heard great things about both schools and was looking for any input you guys had!! I was WL to KCUCOM on Oct 26 and to OU on Nov 20:( 2 of my top choices and in kinda losing a lot of hope rn
just received a call from my top school to schedule an interview, and they told me to come in this Friday. It's very short notice and I asked if I can move it but they said we're very busy because of the holidays. Is this normal hahahaha? I told the lady I'd love to but Can I get back to you tomorrow for confirmation and she said yup. anyone been in this situation before?
I’m on a pre-interview hold at ACOM, Noorda, and ARCOM. Does anyone know if these are considered soft R from these schools? I tried going through previous years’ sdn threads and didn’t find much. For ACOM, I got placed on hold post-secondary but the other two are pre-secondary. Any info helps, thank you
Deciding where to put a deposit down, does anyone have personal experiences (good or bad) or any insight to this decision? Thank you in advance
Hey everyone
I interviewed at Noorda on 11/11 and haven't heard back yet. Can someone who interviewed on this day tell me if they heard back as of today? Thanks!
I feel like these are SUPER different schools, but I see tons of pros for both of them that interest different parts of me (from CA but moved to Boston after college so I'm open to both coasts). Will be bringing my partner with me who works in fitness, so I need to make sure he'll be happy/able to find work as well. I've already spent countless hours doing deep dives on both schools, their communities, clerkship rotations, but any huge red or green flags would be appreciated!
Hi everyone! I have narrowed down my acceptances to these two schools based on the following factors:
Both schools seem nearly identical, so I would appreciate any insight into both schools (pros/cons) that would help me make a decision. I have to submit my deposit by 12/14.
hey everyone!! have to submit my deposit by next week and I am unsure of which school is better, here are a couple pros and cons I can think of. In the future, I'd like to do residency back in Texas where I'm originally from but I'm still unsure of what specialty (just not super into primary care).
I also got A's at KCOM, LMU-DCOM, and PCOM-SGA.

I'm getting to the point where I need to put deposits down, and I'd love some insights regarding Noorda, Rocky Vista and Incarnate Word. I just want to do one deposit as I'm still waiting to hear back after a couple other interviews but I'd love to hear your thoughts on these schools as I'm making my decision!
Has anyone ever gone on a campus tour at Stratford and if so approximately how long was it? Trying to see if I need to request a full day off.
Also any advice on what to wear? Does visiting help your app? Etc.
Hi guys so I am finishing up my application ( I know i am so late.) I usually write my experience and run it through ChatGPT for spelling errors. I was told my application could get flagged for using AI. Is this true? They are not writing my experience, just polishing. Has anyone gotten an interview using this method?
Grateful for having these choices. Need help deciding which school to choose. Im a CA resident but I'm thinking about the pros and cons of doing OOS tuition for rowan and Im leaning towards rowan just because of its established nature. Super unsure though because I commonly hear how nice it is to stay in state for schooling. Any advice would be very helpful :)
Anyone got it for accepted students?
Hey everyone, current OMS1 here.
I have no idea what speciality I want to do but I do know I want to open as many doors as possible. With that being said, I am interested in research, however, idk what type of research. I have my MPH so I was considering doing public health since it is interesting to me.
I know people say to do research that targets the speciality you want to do but I don’t even know what I want to do considering I haven’t done rotations lol. Does it matter what type of research I do?
I’d hope that once I figure out what I like, probably after second year, that’d I would do research more specific to the speciality I’d like to go into.
I recently got accepted into a DO school and I really wanna be an ophthalmologist. What are the steps I need to take in order to accomplish this? I know it’ll be more tricky being a DO rather than an MD because of residency spots, but what should I do to the best prepare myself for this?
I shadowed an ophthalmologist for over 200 hours and really feel like this is what I want to pursue
I’ve been lucky enough to get accepted to MSUCOM but my only worry is that I probably won’t go into IM or FM. Right now I’m thinking maybe something like radiology or anesthesiology. I know that medical school requires a lot of time but I’m hoping to have at least some work life balance. However, I keep seeing posts talking about how much more difficult it is as a DO to get into a specialty that isn’t PC. I don’t want it to consume my entire life where all I do is spend time studying or doing something else to boost my application.
For people going to or those that went to a well established DO school like MSUCOM, did you feel like you could go into any specialty you wanted? What specialty did you go into and what did you do to make that happen (taking STEP exams, how much research/publications, other extracurriculars)?
I have some questions about the school and havent seen many posts about it, if you could DM me that would be amazing!! I have one acceptance and it's this school and I am very grateful for this opportunity!
I was wondering if MCOM required an any specific laptop/tablet to take notes on or if any is specifically required. I know that some schools also provide an ipad/tablet and was wondering if MCOM did that too. Since it's a lot of deals are ending tomorrow, I just wanted to see if I should buy anything now.
Also if current students can also let me know what they use or recommend to buy.
Thank you :)
I have an interview with them in January, and unless I hear back from any of the other schools I applied to (and assuming I get an A) I think I’m going to go there for med school. I have one acceptance from a newer DO school, but I’m hesitant to go because it’s in an undesirable location/climate for me and there’s no official board pass rates or match data out for that school. Ideally I’d like to stay in Texas for med school. I know UIWSOM has low board passing rates and has essay style exam questions (from what I hear that’s going to be gone by next school year), but they’ve got a new dean and have had decent match rates. Does anyone here go to UIWSOM or know any info about it? Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts
Has anybody done the interview virtually? Any specific questions, tips, or comments about the interview experience??
Like most, I go to a DO school without a teaching hospital. I heard rec letters are a big deal when it comes to matching at a good academic program. I’ve heard academic program directors criticize DO applicants for not having good, well-written letters because we don’t rotate at big teaching hospitals generally.
Does anyone have suggestions for getting good letters? Do I just make sure to do away rotations at big programs to get letters? How do I go about obtaining a good one?
What is the consensus on finishing out a graduate degree before medical school?
I already have an M.S. in Biology I graduated with this year. All A’s in that, 4.00 GPA.
Started an accelerated one-year M.S. in Biomedical Sciences this summer, fully funded with tuition, MCAT prep, designed to help students with applying to medical school. No guaranteed interview/acceptance with the affiliated MD program.
Anyway, I had an interview a couple weeks ago at a great D.O. program, should find out this week. I will be attending if accepted.
How bad would it look if I just withdrew from my current program if accepted, taking the next few months off?
There is overlap anyway of about 1 week between both of these programs (finish M.S. last week of July, start D.O. last week of July), so I would have to leave early and complete assignments online anyway to finish my degree. I already have a 4.00 Master’s and I interviewed, so those are the grades they are going by (the MCAT prep course this summer was a special topics course and I have that on my transcript as an A, other than that, just my first MS grades are most recent).
I spoke to a medical student here who left her Master’s after she was accepted and she said they never asked her about it.
I would probably prefer to do that if I’m being honest.
Should I bring it up to the medical school if I get in here?
I mean you would think they would let me if I mention there is technically overlap between me finishing this program and our orientation week and it would make it easier on me to move and get settled in.
What’s the lowest CARS section score you’ve heard get accepted DO/MD?
Hi everyone! I'm really hoping to get in this cycle (hopefully to a CA school). Is it worth sending in my app to DO schools this week with these stats? Also would appreciate any advice on my current school list:
CA resident with strong ties to CO (grew up there for half of my life)
South Asian Female (ORM)
cGPA: 3.8 sGPA: 3.77
MCAT: 511 (127/128/126/130)
Other Stuff:
Clinical Exp: 640 hours paid + 200 hours non-paid clinical research
Non-Clinical Volunteering: 962 hours
- 150 hours as a health educator about preventable diseases
- 60 hours teaching swim safety to kids
- 108 hours as a STEM tutor for underserved elementary school students
-644 hour as a peer mentor for underserved students coming in college/on the premed track
Research: 820 hours of basic science at a systems neurobiology lab(one of my LORs is from PI)
Shadowing: ~100 hours from various MDs, do not have any DO shadowing as of rn but I did work with a DO as an MA
Leadership: lots of leadership including being a TA for 3 quarters, co-chair of a healthcare mentorship org, leadership in student advocacy org, and leadership in a non-profit providing free health services to vulnerable populations
Publications: no pubs but I have authorship on 3 posters (not first author), I feel like this doesn’t mean anything but wanted to throw it in just in case lol
Kinda concerned about if my non-clinical volunteering is non-clinical enough for service schools I’ve heard that service schools like your non-clinical volunteering to be more so helping with basic needs (i.e. volunteering at a homeless shelter) rather than what I have.
School List:
Very grateful to have gotten acceptances at all 4 schools, however having a hard time making a decision before deposit time. Please leave a comment explaining why you’d choose one over the other! Appreciate it.
Did anybody not have any research as a DO recently and still matched well? My school seems to be lacking in giving us opportunities…
Hi Everyone - I want your advice, I was recently accepted into both of these schools. I love Marian because I have worked with them before and love the atmosphere. I applied to Burrell because my family recently moved to New Mexico but I do not know much about Burrell, from what I have seen I love the campus and culture but am afraid about its reputation.
Does anyone have any interviews scheduled within the next couple months? This is my dream school and I have already emailed them twice with my updated activities section. I don’t want to annoy them too much but I’m an Ohio resident really wanting to go to the Dublin branch
Thanks ❤️💋😫
