Sorry if this has been asked before. New fan of the show here (I got AMC+ last month just for shudder and happened to finally give OB a try), on season 3, kind of losing track of the plot (farm boy is part of a seperate set of the clones???) but still enjoying the show.
What I find more confusing than anything else is how they afford this huge apartment when nobody on the show seems to have a job lol.
Watching Orphan Black for the first time...was anyone else not bothered by the same plot elements being repeated over and over? Like how many times does poor Kira need to be kidnapped? When will Sarah stop rushing into dangerous situations by herself? I'm on season 5, and at this point I'm only watching because I hate giving up on a show.
I had heard good things about this show, but it really seems to lack the intelligence that a lot of my other favorite shows have.
I'm adding the spoiler tag just in case (main show).
All in all, it was an entertaining watch. I picked it up because it's one of my mother's favourite and I gave it a chance.
Though, as things progressed, I got annoyed by some things. Don't get me wrong, the characters were adorable and the ending was worth the wait,
But it just felt like each season (or even half-season) the writers just fabricated a new layer on the go. To the point I believe, if we had to chart a diagram of all Orphan Black villains and factions, that'd be difficult to read.
Some of the plot lines were forgettable: for example the proletheans, their link to Tomás isn't explained at all, and it just takes one big fire to put them down. Just goes to show how badass Helena is.
The endgame in s4 and s5 was a bit more structured at least, but I really have doubt these arcs were planned from the start 😝
Oh and my personal pet peeve, how they keep calling the gene experimentation results "the Science"... It's ridiculous and no one does it in real life, or so I hope. "Omg noo the bad guy has taken all the science with them!!!" Really sounds like children's talk.
Anyway... Just wanted to see if anyone shares my ramblings 🥲 cheers!
I've been looking across the internet for Orphan Black but seems to be hard to find a place to watch it.
Any tips on where to watch it for free or what streaming platforms carry it/which countries Netflix carry it?
It seemed like Vivi killed Sturgis and obviously Cosima was the one being accused of it but by the time S1 E9 rolls around, Jaysara doesn’t seem to want to arrest Vivi and nobody even mentions the fact that she’s the one who killed him? I’m a bit confused, here. I haven’t listened to any further episodes so I’m currently still on S1 E9, any clarification would be appreciated
I mean after seeing her brother’s foster sister’s many “twin” sisters, she was bound to find out.
An old painting in my chest drawer and guess who it is!!! The goddess of wisdom and deep thought! Thought I'd post it here before I doze off. I had bought this painting from my friend but there's a website if you wanna get a print.
If you wanna revisit the art show --
I hate watching a cancelled tv show that was left on a cliffhanger. Was Orphan Black Echoes worth watching? Did it end on a cliffhanger we will never get answers to? I don’t think I could have handle Orphan Black ending after one of its season finales. Yikes!
Like they get a LEDA and CASTOR fetus and they kill the castor. Then it gets absorbed by LEDA and then bang bang, Kendall. I’m failing at Science so apologies if this isn’t how it works.
Also if Kendall didn’t absorb her brother, would she look like the LEDAs?
????
They can't just cancel Echoes and leave us there. Cause we all know that might be the end of the franchise.
EDIT: TO BE CLEAR I MEANT MEDIA AFTER ECHOES.
It seems like a whole seperate experiment from LEDA.
Krystal as Helena :
"eww , Get ME Out Of This"
no . On an actual note . Krystal as Sarah .
CAN YOU BELIEVz Sarah can nail clone-swapping with Allison , KRystal full on dialogue but
as Cosima is afraid to talk because she might be figured out .
I’m rewatching the show for the third or fourth time, and I noticed something on this rewatch that has never bothered me before, but it does now.
Orphan Black is a sci-fi horror show, which means the characters are faced with horrifying and grotesque situations all the time.
The LEDA clones are infertile by design, and that piece of their genetic makeup also causes a respiratory malfunction. Most of them are horrified and devastated when they find out they can’t have children.
The CASTOR clones cause infertility (not sure if that’s by design?), and that piece of their genetic makeup also causes mental decline and instability. Most of them are horrified at this prospect, but the show focuses more on the horror that when a woman has sex with a CASTOR clone, that renders her infertile.
It feels almost like the show is saying “the most horrifying thing that can happen to a woman is infertility while the most horrifying thing that can happen to a man is mental decline. A woman’s womb is the most important thing about her, while a man’s brain is the most important thing about him.”
This feels like a stretch even as I’m typing it, but that undercurrent makes me a little uncomfortable. Has anyone else felt that while watching?
I was just wondering, where i could possibly download the entire series in mp4 format if it still exists, i lost my old files of the first three seasons and i’ve been scouring all over in torrent sites to find a download of the show in good mp4 format, so if anyone knows where I could possibly get a link or a drive, i would like to know. Thank you!
^ Sarah is minding her business and gets stuck on an elevator .
one other person is there . she looks up and reconizes THAT FACE .
the other person in the elevator , shes a clone ...
^ (maybe for a season opening scene ... maybe take place as a setting , a carnival / fair
and krystal or sarah is running from dyiad or someone and goes to hide in that attraction with alot of mirrors / many reflections of your self ; and discovers a new clone in there ; now having to protect the new clone )
I might see MK play Tetris .
Cosima plays The Legend of Zelda and relates the game and reincarnation and each link looking similar to Clones
Helena ..
What game would Helena like to play ? ( I think I can see her play 2p with Sarah , or she challenges someone )
Mika was talking to Ferdinand and says
" i found you first " while looking at a picture of Rachael on a projector .
The next part of her story would be semi-revenge or like hatred for Rachael . like she would find rachael . i'm not sure the purpose , since she's not a part of what ferdinand did .
There will be a CLONE who is a school teacher .
And that teacher happends to be working in Kiras school . (elementary , middle , high )
or happends to be kiras' teacher .
(Just a random interesting thought I had )
I want new clones
Kira tells Cosima in Season4
that she saw her 'aunties' burn her mum alive . they had to because she was changing ?
OK I Want to know ; WAS SHE GLITCHING LIKE RACHAEL was with the leda swan visions \ glitches .
ORR was it more like a vision \ other ability the whole clone project posses . ex : she also healed fast .
I Also want to know would each clone would have glitched at some point , since Rachael did .
I feel like this was the appropriate place for me to vent this out, and there are people who will probably feel the same way i guess (and if you don't, that's okay.)
a few days ago there was a post I saw, probably on twitter or insta that said something along the lines of how there are ships from tv shows and movies that didn't end up together that still kinda haunt you in some way. and i kid you not, I have NOT thought of sarah/paul in over eight years but they were one of the first pairings that came into my mind. i remember when OB was still airing, i caught up during s2's premiere and was one of those people who actually liked almost every character and didn't really hate any of them, i was also cool with every ship within the fandom (but i always leaned onto cophine and paul/sarah (militarypunk) the most lol).
literally everything just came flashing back in my mind, I can't remember much about all the show's episodes etc anymore bc my memory is not very good in general but i recall the moment i shipped them was when he told sarah his job was to keep her safe......and I got reminded of how bitter i was when they killed him off in season 3. anyways yeah as someone who was into a load of mess in fiction during those days, they were one of the formative ships i remember liking, (i genuinely can't believe it's been over ten years since the show came out!) and oddly yet thankfully enough i have a good memory of that time and my clone club fandom experience. some pairings really do stay with you somehow, even when you kinda forget about them in the long run, then it suddenly sparks up again.
They should have named it Helena.
I’m that blue dot…
Bro literally saw a woman who was identical to her daughter and still has the audacity of denouncing her. Ik in the audio series, the clones reveal their existence to the world, I wonder how she reacted
In S5E9, we finally see child Helena, but the actress isn't the one who plays Charlotte or child Rachel. Do you know why that is ?
where is this place in orphan black season 5 episode 8, when cosima and delphine stay together on the bed? it doesn't seems like cosima's house, and first time looks interior.
I’ve watched the OG Orphan Black TV series several times and tried to listen to the audio series on a few occasions over the past few years since its release but couldn’t get into it/past EP 3. I’m now on S1 E4 of ‘The Next Chapter’ and baffled about the timeline.
They’re saying that Vivi (and/or Dana) is 28 and that this makes her 6 years younger than the (Neolution created) LEDA Clones besides Charlotte who is apparently 10 years younger than Vivi (ie 18 years old but being the same age as Kira who wants to graduate high school early meaning she can’t be 18 yet??)
This would make Sarah/Alison et al 34 years old in The Next Chapter but then they also say it’s been 10 years since ‘Westmorland’, Coady etc. died, meaning that they were 24 during the events of OB which is obviously not true considering it was set in 2012/2013 and their IDs said they were born in 1984 making them 28 at the time. What is going on? There’s inconsistencies just between the first few episodes of The Next Chapter let alone with the OG TV series.
