I keep seeing posts about folks looking for roommates and whatnot, so I figured I'd make a PSA that there are ✨TWO WHOLE FACEBOOK PAGES EXPRESSLY DEDICATED TO THIS PURPOSE✨!! Go check them out:

Here's the CGE (grad student union) FB page for housing, if you're a grad student looking for other grad students:

Good luck on your housing searches 😁
Edit: *for off-campus housing. First years living in the dorms, that's a whole different beast.
I dropped a class and immediately swapped it to the same class but at a different time because of some personal reasons. I did this in the first week of the term, does it show a W on my transcript? It’s also billing me for 24 credits even though I’m taking 20. Did it double count or something?
Just trying to get a general idea of what my options are, I am transferring as a junior here and living with family is out of the question because they don't live in Corvallis, also I will need to move somewhere, where my boyfriend can stay as well and he is not a student here so this will make things a little more difficult but I heard living in an apartment is cheaper than using the student dorms but I'm curious to know what you guys think?
I'm currently taking more classes then I can handle and I assume I just bombed a midterm for a BACORE history class and im just not feeling the class. That being said Im thinking to Withdraw from the course or possibly switching to Pass/no pass. Any advice on what I should do? Im assuming there's not much consequence of having one W on the transcript but just wanted to make sure
What classes satisfy the Physical Science Lecture/Lab bacc core requirement? I don't see any labs listed in this roadmap shared by the ME department.
After seeing various posts for the 50501 protests (50 states, 50 protests, 1 day) against project 2025 and extremism; is there anything happening in Corvallis or on campus for those who are unable to make it to Salem? I would love to show my support but also can’t make it to Salem for the protest in front of the capitol.
Hi all,
I'm currently admitted to OSU, but won't be taking classes until a few more semesters (I'm a PCC student getting my first 2 years in), and I was wondering if there has been anyone who has (successfully) used zig as the PL for their projects. I heard that if the compiler is not on flip, then it'd be a bit tougher to get it accepted.
Thanks in advance for your responses and insight!
Everyone I know speaks highly of OSU, “OSU‘s a good school blabla, R1 research university this that-“ but what makes this school great?
For the level of quality and programs this university offers, I sometimes beg the question, “why is the university’s acceptance rate so high?” or is it just that I refer to good schools having ‘lower’ acceptance rates? OSU’s QS Rankings are absolutely down the gutter for some reason (lower than WSU).
Not trying to bash on the school, I’m happy with what OSU’s providing me at the moment, but I feel that the school has so much quality to be labelled as a “high-acceptance rate uni”. Doesn’t OSU’s admin even try to improve its image as so as a niche ‘high ranking’ (hope so lol) research university that can best if not beat other universities in other states?
Just an opinion, the administration can definitely do better.
The final test of the semester destroyed me and dropped me a whole letter grade, it didn’t effect my gpa though and it was not a required course. I have all my math classes done and I got really good grades this one is just a unicorn. I’m really worried about it though that final test hit me way harder than I expected.
Hi guys, I'm currently considering going to OSU for an online Bachelor's degree. Does an online degree from OSU say "online" on the diploma or in the transcripts?
Thank you!
So I’ve already taken all three of the required physics courses for biology at my previous university.
I spoke with my advisor at OSU who is basically saying I need to take the first of the series here again cause the one I transferred in didn’t have a lab component. I know I’m venting but this just seems petty. I got high passing grades in most of the series.
I have a limited financial aid budget and I heard OSU physics sucks so I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Sigh
Gonna try not to vent too much. But what keeps you guys from not dropping out? Im taking 17 credits this term, and I am so burnt out to the point where my mental state is so bad I’m considering dropping out altogether.
I transferred here from another university with the goal of getting into graduate school but I’ve completely dropped that idea because of how burnt out I am
I feel like the only thing keeping me here is the fear of regret for not getting my degree and the fear of disappointing my parents vs. having a desire to complete my degree
My workload is absolutely insane this term and I don’t know what to do about it. I had to for the first time in my college life submit incomplete assignments because I just didn’t have time to complete them.
Not to say that college is always a joyous experience, but I have no joy doing anything for my classes. Nothing I learn excites me, it all just feels like more weight.
Any advice would be appreciated. I’m starting to lose it a little bit
Hey yall,
I’ve been into urban exploration for a bit and have decided to take up the hobby once again here. I have a couple spots that I have been to in and around Corvallis. Are there any other students in this subreddit that also like exploring abandoned buildings and want to explore with other people. I can also trade spots…
Hope yall have a great day
I’m graduating next term, at least I hope to be. Besides my two major required courses, I’ve got 8 credits left to fulfill my credit requirements. So here’s what I need:
What classes, courses, anything have you taken that are just unbelievably easy? Spring term preferable.
They could be anything, sports, politics, physics, writing, it doesn’t matter. Any (100-400) number works too, provided it doesn’t have a required prerequisite.
This not only helps me, but anyone else looking for the easy way out of fulfilling that credit requirement for next term.
Hi, I’m looking for a a room to rent in Corvallis. I would love to find a roommate who values cleanliness and is responsible. I’m okay with more than one roommate as well. Ideally someone over 21 preferably female.
If you’re interested or know of a place please let me know. Thanks!
Hi I’m a 27 year old male transfer student from Southern California. I will be starting in the fall for the college of engineering. I’m looking for a room to rent near campus. I have been looking at The Retreat and The Domain. If anyone knows about any rooms available or any advice please let me know! Or if you are looking for a new roommate reach out and see if we click.
somehow i got a bogus ban from tinder so i want to try meeting some guys in real life in this town. ive never been to the bars here really. I did try downward dog last night, but it was pretty chill. What bar and nights are packed with crowds where a single woman might hope to be approached? :)
Hey, out of state Beaver nation, does anyone have experience with buying a car in Oregon for their student in order to save on out of state sales tax? My son is a sophomore, has a utility in his name, and plans on staying in Corvallis for a few years. The difference between California sales tax and the sales tax in Oregon is not insignificant. Any advice? We’re looking for a used Outback.
Helloo im a transfer student and i submitted my application early january. OSU just confirmed they got all my transcripts. I was just wondering: if youre a current student or alumni who was a transfer, when did your application get a decision?
I am taking an online class where the instructor was responsive and grading things/answering messages the first week but has since stopped interacting with the class at all. We have two assignments due tomorrow that we are not supposed to start on without feedback first. The discussion board is full of students asking what to do and how to proceed. Several people have said they have emailed the instructor with no reply past the promised 24 hour mark stated in the syllabus. While I am annoyed, I am also wondering if something has happened to her. Should I reach out to someone at the university and if so who? This is not the first time I've had a instructor that doesn't grade things for several weeks and I don't want to get her in trouble really but we're at a stand still with assignments and it will be frustrating to lose points or have to do assignments over if we finally get feedback.
Update: Thanks for the advice folks! I have reached out to the department head and action is being taken it seems.
And maybe there are some chats or groups where we can communicate?
I can't find a clear answer to this on OSU's website. I'm interested in the CS program as well as a minor in chemistry. Is there a difference in the diploma you receive as an eCampus student vs. an in person one?
I'm interested in grad school after I get my bachelor's. Will adcoms see anything different on my transcript? Will any of the classes say "online" or "eCampus"?
Also if anyone has any experience with the CS program and/or chemistry minor feel free to share your thoughts!
Anyone know when football tickets go on sale for the fall?
I read the post couple days ago and they said January 31st it'll be sent out. So far there nothing, it says it's unavailable at this time. I'm trying to get my taxes done, I don't want to leave it out. Is there any update on this?
Hi everyone!
I was just recently admitted as a transfer to OSU to start this spring (yay!) I am pursuing a B.S. in Environmental science. It is my passion - I am so excited!
What I am not excited about is the math. I am great with STEM courses but minus the damn math portion. For my major, I have to choose between the following groups to satisfy my math block:
OR
Calculus and Probability for the life sciences
I have tried to read the descriptions to give me a better idea but honestly, it didn't help. All math has always been hard for me so I am looking for the least hardest. Opinions? One random fact, the one time I did well in math was trig - if that helps any.
Hello everyone, this is a follow-up post from the one on Tuesday about the placement rates of MECOP this year. Based on the data I pulled these are the results (keep in mind these percentages are the rates of people who did not get placed):
Major: BioE, Total: 28.57%, Junior: 20.0%, Senior: 50.0%
Major: CE, Total: 0.0%, Junior: 6.667%, Senior: 6.25%

Major: ChE, Total: 9.375%, Junior: 0.0%, Senior: 15.0%
Major: CS, Total: 12.87%, Junior: 20.0%, Senior: 7.843%
Major: EE, Total: 2.703%, Junior: 4.545%, Senior: 3.333%

Major: Prmgt, Total: 0.0%, Junior: 0.0%, Senior: 33.33%
Major: Met, Total: 0.0%, Junior: NA%, Senior: 0.0%
Some of these results are weird and don't make sense. From what I've seen it looks like either some people get placed that did not interview or I made a mistake when sorting the data (Probably this one). If anyone wants the code or the data I can send it to you.
