Bike Part Swap

I have a lot of unused and mostly unopened bike parts. I gave up on a project last year and have a few excess items. I have been trying to sell them on Facebook marketplace for under value. But to no avail.

Would there happen to be a bike part swap meet that happens around the metro area that I could bring them to?

Hey everyone, whats your favorite gravel routes near Omaha? I usually just go out to Wabash or Crescent, but hoping to explore more North and South. Thanks for the help!

Nice single track around the area?

Just moved to Glenwood actually but I work in Omaha. I like to mountain bike single track trails and maybe some gravel. Just looking for some decent trails in the area and maybe some groups that ride them.

Shoutout to Johann

I've decided to set a goal for myself to ride RAGBRAI next year, and to that end I've been trying to make gradually longer rides each week. to supplement the 11-miles that my wife and I do every other day. I work standard business hours though, so I have to get up pretty early in the morning if I'm planning to go any distance at all and still hope to get to work on time.
This morning a really nice retired gentleman name Johann pulled up alongside me and struck up a conversation. He mentioned that he's done RAGBRAI 32 times, including the most recent one a couple of weeks ago. I hit my turnaround point and had to head back home while we were still talking, but I hope to run into him again; I found his conversation pretty inspiring.
Johann, on the offhand chance that you'll see this: you're awesome! Thanks for providing the encouragement!

Weather Getting Better, Dundee Cyclist Looking for More Rides

Here is my current cycling heatmap from strava. I guess I have hit most of the "Main Paths" of the city. Looking for any good spots to ride to from Dundee or drive to for something unique. Distance doesn't matter, just like getting out there and finding fun spots. Cheers everyone!

Most of the Keystone Trail south of Offutt AFB is still impassable

Found out today trying to ride from Haworth Park around the trail back up by 36th. From the water treatment facility out to Capehart it's mostly mud, or gravel and mud. Thought I could keep going but eventually hit a 1 mile stretch of just straight mud. My cleats are now dirty and I'm frustrated and tired. Don't take this path section even with a mountain bike.

Favorite Strava Segments, Particular Hills & Grades to try?

I just returned to Omaha after getting into road biking while in California. One thing I worked a lot on was hill climbing, particularly so I could take hills that were 18% grade or higher. I know Omaha is mostly flat, but are there any notable hard hills that anyone has taken in the area?

Also, what's the segment/KOM situation look like with Strava in Omaha? Any common ones to shoot for?

Is there a good way to check on the status of cycling trails in Omaha?

By this I mean the paved "sidewalk" style trails, like the Papio one. Is there any county or city website that just marks a status of "clear" or "closed" or "debris noted"? I just recently moved back to Omaha, and as long as the temp is above 40-45 degrees I plan on riding my Specialized around the area on these kinds of trails.

Comedian & cyclist from KY coming to Omaha to headline a show at The Backline Saturday 7/10 at 10pm. I’ve opened for Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, Open Mike Eagle, David Leibe Hart, and punk bands Boner City and GRLwood, I promise I'm funny and if you don’t enjoy the show you can spit on my car.

Possible Changes to Rules Governing Local Trails

Earlier today the City Council was supposed to vote on a resolution, submitted by the Parks department, that would make certain park rules a part of the city ordinances. A fair number of people showed up to provide public comment in favor of revising the submitted rules so that the metro area trail system wouldn't have to have the same hours as the city parks, which are currently closed from 11PM to 5AM. They decided to postpone the vote for a couple of weeks as a result. If have thoughts you want to share with your Councilmember on this subject, I think the time is ripe and there's a good chance they'll listen. Me personally, I don't think it makes sense to close the trails at night, given that we don't close the roads.

Anybody Here Participating in the Pint-a-Gon ride this Saturday May 22?

I think they actually do this every Saturday for a pretty good chunk of the summer, "they" being a local association of microbrewers and distillers located near I-80 442. This Saturday they'll be leaving from the Infusion Brewing southwest taproom. I've only been riding a month, and I'm not in the best of shape yet, but it's only a nine mile loop. With beer.

Gap in the West Papio Trail Got Me Confused

Hi everyone...I've got what's probably a very silly question. I've just taken up bicycling. I'm fortunate enough to live near the West Papio Trail as it runs alongside Harry Andersen Avenue in Millard. I'm actually able to commute to work by bike, because the trail pretty much goes right by my office. But I've been wondering about the gap in the trail between Q Street and Millard Ave.

Running north to south, the trail pretty much ends at the parking lot of Hobby Lobby on Millard Ave, and then doesn't pick up again until Q Street near the Tyson packing plant. I'm routinely meeting other riders near either end of the gap, but I can't for the life of me understand how people are CROSSING the gap. Riding on Q Street in that vicinity would seem to be taking one's life in one's hand, and Millard Avenue isn't a whole lot better. Am I just not a confident enough rider yet, or is there some safe passage that I'm just not seeing on the map?

Good trails around council bluffs and Omaha for beginner riders as a family

What are some good trails for a beginner rider. Road or dirt trails are fine. However I’d like to avoid fast downhills or areas with cars

Bike route between Omaha and Kansas City

I'm planning a one day ride to KC in June. I don't want to take the Wabash. Has anyone done this? I'm looking for route suggestions. I want to stay on paved roads.

Clunker and parts swap

Hey y'all so I've been wondering if anyone wants to get that old clunker or those odd parts and meet up somewhere to do a sort of parts swap, I used to do it with my Georgia friends once a year. Always had good fun and made some riding plans.

Bike friends?

I recently moved to Omaha and wanted to see if anyone wants to ride together. I’m planning on doing the Bike MS 150 and was looking for a group to ride with on the weekends and some week nights. I live in West O and don’t know much of the preferred routes around here. My pace is around 17 mph, but I am hoping to increase my fitness through a more regular riding schedule. Please let me know of any options in the area!

feedback on local shops? looking to get back into biking

Looking to get into biking after a 15-year hiatus. I've been to re-cycle, the bike rack and the bike way and tried out a Trek fx2 and a Specialized Sirrus.

I liked the $500 Sirrus more, but the price and perks of getting the $400 trek at the bike rack seem hard to beat. Not sure I want to spend more than that until I can prove to my self that this is a lasting hobby.

any thoughts or advice would be appreciated both towards the LBS and the bike.

Seeking a biking mentor, just picked up a bike last weekend. I'm not sure wtf I'm doing. I can be found on the keystones trail in the evenings.

Any weekly rides going on right now?

Hey, just wondering if anyone knows of any road cycling groups. I was riding with greenstreet last year but they don't seem to be organizing anymore rides. Let me know if anyone is interested!
