Hey r/okc, I'm hoping I can get some help for our friends in Clinton.
As you may have heard, Long-Bell Brewing Co. closed with no notice on Sunday, December 1st. The staff has been left suddenly without jobs right before Christmas.
We've started this fundraiser with the goal of making this difficult transition less devastating for the hard-working and loyal employees that made the brewery so special. Kasie, Isabella, and Alexis put their heart and souls into the Long-Bell; any help you're able to give will go a very long way toward assisting them with living expenses this holiday season.

Okla County Commissioners approved an MOU that locks in $39 million for a new mental/behavioral health facility to be connected to a new future jail.

I’m having a birthday party in a couple of weeks and am looking for catering from a restaurant I could pick up to feed 10-15 people. Looking for something that will travel well in the car.
Hey fellow Okies! I just found this really neat website you can post where there is food growing so others can go by and grab some berries off a bush or a fruit from a tree, this is so neat!!! We don’t have a lot of places in our state marked yet, but it could be an incredible resource for the unhoused, or even some of us brokies to get a little free food! Please consider taking a gander and posting a few places near you!
It’s called https://fallingfruit.org/
I plan on using this as a motivation to get better at identifying edible plants!
Need a money order to pay rent. Waiting on my driver's license to come in the mail. Have my paper ID. Apparently that's not a legit ID. If it's not legit, why can I use it for LITERALLY everything else?
Also why is Oklahoma licenses being printed in a different state? It was fine just the way it was. Take your picture, get your license right then and there. No waiting.
Getting a ton of spam calls from people asking about insurance status. Surely this is a scam, or is it just really sad people trying to make a living.
I have to assume it is more of a scam though.
I know this is pretty last minute, but are there any local photographers that would be available mid-December to be on location for my proposal to my girlfriend? I have a few spots in mind but would need to discuss pricing/availability..
Please link your Instagram or a way to look at your photos!
Any recommendations for firewood in the metro area would be great! looking for seasoned wood for indoor fireplace.
I'm not looking to support a MAGA company.
I'm not looking to support some owner that lives on a golf course or in nichols hills, while farming out work to much poorer working crews.
I'm not looking to support a fly by night red neck that doesn't know what he's doing
I'm not looking to support some evangelical self righteous proselytizer.
I'm not looking to support a company that's had their license revoked 3 times and keeps applying under slightly different names (I've found this to cover most of the recommended companies)
Are there any actually good roofing companies around? I thought I found one but he's taking literal weeks to respond to me.
edit - to be clear, I don't care if people are Christian or not, I'd just like to be sure they are not trump supporting lgbt hating racist.
I’ve got a date this weekend and need some recommendations for a spot in Oklahoma City with a chill vibe and enough space for some privacy so we can actually talk. Preferably, I’m looking for a restaurant. Last time, I ended up at a place where the seating was way too close, and we were practically shouting over the table to hear each other—not ideal for a date! Any suggestions for a more relaxed setting, especially on a weekend? Thanks in advance!
Does anyone have any info on the opening date? I believe construction was completed at the end of October. Now it just sits there all vacant. There is no sign out front stating any kind of opening date.
I have some clothes and shoes I'm looking to donate to a shelter in OKC area where it will directly help someone as opposed to giving to goodwill. Any suggestions will me helpful. Thanks.
I am a middle aged white man 50s, anyway I go into Walmart to do some business and my goal believe it or not is to restock Cat stuff, litter, food. You know along rhe way there is so much stuff, well I got stuck looking at the TVs and noticing this man becoming familiar. By that is I just seen him following me, well I continue on to Cat isle. I am restocking so nothing really small. Well I will be damned there is the guy, he walks behind me, down the aisle at the end of each isle 2 - 3 times that I saw and the police officer to. It all makes sense more and more. I had ran into the officer while at the TVs. Anyway I'm done deciding which treats they will get. I start heading towards the Auto dept, with a $100 basket full of cat stuff, anyway heading to auto because that is where I came in at, , returning a core for battery I bought $$$ 200, yesterday on the go,but as I am heading their Im being followed. Met me all the way into auto check out. I told individual at check out, it's pathetic that loss prevention has to follow me over some cat food. Now we know that's not necessary. I was told the way I dress. Clean?
i live on the edge of OKC out in the yukon, mustang, okc joining region (i call it it the try-cities. lol) lived my whole 42yrs and a few years back a food truck started coming to my work place that served chai lattes... now addicted to them but tuck stopped coming. i've tried various places like starbucks (boo) but haven't really found that one that hits the spot you know?
Edit: ok wow... thats alot of places. I'll definitely give some a shot. Thanks all!
For anyone who has just moved here, or doesn't watch local news, I will let you know that Oklahoma has traffic cameras that read your license plate and check to see if you have current insurance on the vehicle. If you don't, they send you a violation notice in the mail that carries a 190 dollar charge. Normally not a problem, unless you are an idiot like me and got a new insurance policy without checking when it goes into effect before canceling your previous one. A stupid and silly mistake on my end. Just FYI, I will leave the arguments of over reach and privacy to yall, I'm just gonna pay the fine
My GF is moving from NYC to OKC for a year and we will do a long-distance relationship. I've been looking at the flight connections between OKC and NYC and discovered that a return is $500 on average, which doesn't really work if you want to visit, let's say every two weeks.
Is there a cheaper connection? For example, I've been looking at flying to Dallas Fort Worth and then taking a 3 hour Amtrak. You can find easily return flights for $100 and then book the train in advance which brings down the price considerably but I'm not sure how difficult it would be to do the connection in practice (e.g. take Uber from airport to train). If someone has tried to do this or found a more reliable way to get there without breaking the bank, I'd appreciate it!
EDIT: thanks so much to all the replies, this is super useful! you all shared so much, this is a great reference for booking next year :)
Looking to get away from grocery store bought beans and get something a little fresher and tastier. Preferably from somewhere local and not super expensive. (Bonus points if they have a good medium or dark roast!)
I have a pinched nerve in my lower back that’s affecting my left hip/leg and would appreciate any recommendations for who to see out here. I have used one before but it was over 15 years ago. Located near 50th and May Ave.
Anyone know where I can buy the mixed nuts like the church ladies used to put in our Christmas sacks? They weren't salted and you had to crack them with a nutcracker.
My neighbor and I have a white chalk X on our sidewalk in front of the house. Any ideas on meaning? Google says marked for burglary, but that made me think of urban legends. Any other reason that has legitimacy may by the city or county?
What’s your review on them? Pay looks solid. How’s the hours? Set schedules? How many stops?
My professor changed the due date and now I need my poster by Tuesday night, 12/3. I can't find anywhere that will print a 36x48" or similar size by Tuesday night - anyone have any ideas?
Edit: Thanks everyone! As of 7am Monday, one of the options already printed 2 copies. Appreciate all the Oklahoma generosity!
Oklahoma’s tax rebate has helped to get some of the biggest recent movies made, but it can be a challenging program to navigate. We break it down for you here.

Hi there. I work overnights. I rely on the sidewalk to bike to work safely. If you have a house, that's awesome, truly, im proud of you bud. On trash day, set your cans out, and the next day, fucking grab them.
They don't belong in the street. They don't belong on the sidewalk. They don't belong in a cluster blocking the way. And recently, I've been just kicking them onto people's lawn. I don't care if it's trash day, if you're old or have kids, or about any of that really. If you block the sidewalk, which ALL of us pay taxes for, im kicking your shit over and you can deal with it.
I've noticed 16th st is really bad about this. Enjoy having trash all over your lawn because you didn't feel like pushing the can 8 more inches forward.
"But OP not everyone has curbs! My can says to leave it in the sidewalk!"
Use your common sense. Does it block the path? Would someone have to get off the sidewalk to avoid your shit? Is it in the way just so you don't have to walk another foot? We have brains and spatial reasoning, this shouldn't even be a problem.
Parking in the sidewalk is another issue. I'm about to just start bothering the city until I see fines posted on doors, because frankly the shit is annoying. The ONLY people who should have an issue with me both knocking cans over when they're blocking the way, and reporting parked cars in the sidewalk to the city, are those who do these things. Your circumstances aren't so dire that you cannot move six fucking inches out of the God damned way. Shit like this is a really big indicator that we are in fact 49th in education.
