Searching for a Beer

I was visiting around August 2013 and stopped in what I believe used to be Liquor Warehouse off Adams Ave & Magnolia St. ( I don't see it on google maps anymore)

The guy helping us suggested a sour beer, from what he told me was a local craft brewery. I remember the case that carried the six pack had a Sailing Ship on it , Possibly the label too.

I know this is incredibly vague but if anyone has an ide of what it was, I would love to know what I had that time.

Mug Club & Subscriptions

I recently came across Little Miss Brewing in SD, which has a $20 bottomless beer on Fridays. Wonderful deal and beers! They also offer a mug club at $25 a year which gets a larger beer.

Anything like that in Orange County or elsewhere in SoCal. Tell me your favorites.

My current favorite spots Phantom Ales GameCraft (has mugclub) Everywhere Greencheck

I do like places with wifi so I can work on my laptop during the day, outdoor area would be great too. nights I know usually are busy and have more music

Best OC Beer Bars (non-breweries)

Hey everyone. Can you provide some recommendations on the best places to get draft beer in Orange County? Preferably in south OC (Irvine-ish and lower). I like to have a variety of styles to choose from (saison, lager, stout, etc) - not just a “selection” of 20 different IPAs which is all too common on draft lists these days. It seems like people tend to congregate directly at breweries for draft beer here which is great at times but sometimes I’m looking to try a variety of breweries/styles in one sitting. The best places I’ve found so far are Board & Brew and Brewhouse. There’s also a pizza place in Irvine whose name escapes - I haven’t been there but the taplist looks solid.

Side note: A month or so ago I had a similar post asking for bottle shop recommendations since I’ve recently moved out here from Chicago. I’ve visited several of the bottle shops and appreciate the input from everyone!

Best OC Bottle Shops

I just moved to Orange County from Chicago with minimal knowledge about the local beer scene. I’m familiar with some of the more popular breweries - and there’s a finite supply of them - but I’m pretty clueless on what the good bottle shops are.

I know that BevMo and Total Wine have a good selection, but they don’t seem to have a similar attention to the beer as my favorite shops back in Chicago (eg attention to freshness, intimate knowledge of the inventory and being able to make informed recommendations, etc) based on the couple of recent trips I’ve made.

If you have any recommendations for a shop I would really appreciate it! I live in Laguna Hills but would be willing to travel anywhere in south OC (Irvine or lower). Thanks!

Bruery Reserve Society

I had it in 2019 and it kinda sucked, I had it some years before and I remember you would get good merch along with the beers. Has it gotten better?

Anaheim Brewery Closing

Nothing listed on their website, but posted on Instagram via beer guild. Doors shut in a month.

I've never really cared for their product, but sad to see it go.

Local Brewery Clarification...

Breweries that serve food can open up but places like Chapman Beer, who have no kitchen, can't?

If this is the case, why is Brewery X open? I thought they bring in outside vendors?https://www.instagram.com/brewery_x/?hl=en

Or why is Green Cheek not open? Costa Mesa has a kitchen (awesome food too).

Just looking for clarification. Thanks and can't wait to get drinking again!

The Bruery or Bottle Logic?

Hi all, I’m in the Anaheim area and finally convinced my fiancé to do a small excursion later today to one of the Bruery or Bottle Logic. I know they’re both highly rated and doubt there’s a “wrong answer,” but which do your prefer and why? Thanks for any advice you can give!

Lack of north OC breweries

Why aren't there any breweries in North OC (La, Palma, Cypress, Buena Park, Los Al, Seal Beach, etc, and areas in south LA county? I have to either go to LB or Anaheim to go to the nearest brewery. Any plans of a brewery opening in this area soon?

Recap of 2019/2020 Orange County brewery opening and closing announcements

We need to breathe some life back into this sub!

In case you didn't know:

  • Santa Ana River Brewing opened in Santa Ana near Harbor & Warner in 2019. Anniversary party is 2/15/2020 - @santaanariverbrewing
  • Green Cheek Beer Co Costa Mesa opened in place of Barley Forge in January 2020 - @greencheekbeertoo
  • Salty Bear Brewing Co opened on Randolph in Costa Mesa in 2019 - @saltybearbeer
  • Brewing Reserve of California opened near Baker and College in Costa Mesa in 2019 - @brcbeer
  • Bootlegger's opened a new location on Randolph in The Lab in 2019 - @bootleggersbrewcm

and

  • Barley Forge closed in 2019
  • Hoparazzi Brewing Co closed in 2019
  • The Good Beer Co announced they will be closing soon, but the tap room remains open - pretty much just Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

The commentary nobody wanted:

  • BRC and Salty Bear have some quality issues, but I heard that Salty Bear just got a new brewer that used to work at The Bruery.
  • Santa Ana River is small, but I think they do hoppy beer right
  • Bootleggers has the best selection of styles
  • Green Cheek opened with some killer guest taps, and will be doing one-off batches on location

If you go to a brewery over near Randolph in Costa Mesa, ffs, get a Lyft or Uber - parking is awful. There are 4 breweries there, so there's that.

What else do you know about?

Beer and Logic puzzles in Orange County this Tuesday- Free event!

Its time again for your favorite event involving beer, logic puzzles in OC!

Puzzled Pint happens on the second Tuesday of each month at a secret location (a local brewery), revealed by solving a puzzle posted online. At the event, small teams work together to solve a set of creative puzzles. Hints are always available — the goal of Puzzled Pint is for everyone to HAVE FUN. Puzzling nights are casual, non-competitive and made for novices.

This month Puzzled Pint event is this Tuesday October 8th. This month's theme is Neko Atsume, everyone's favorite mobile cat collecting game! ( yeah I had to google it).

Solve the location Puzzle (hints and answer available) to find out where we are going to be then please RSVP at this page so we know how many puzzles to print.

More information can be found at our facebook page or the puzzled pint home page. This is completely free (Though I'm guessing you'll want to buy a beer) and operated by volunteers. Happy solving!

Any Fundamental Observation sticking around on shelves in Anaheim?

I know it's a long shot but my wife is in Anaheim for work and I'm looking for FO or any of the BL stouts for her to snag for me. I know some of the stores around Anaheim seem to get them from time to time. Anyone know a particular store that still has it?
