Did anyone purchase tickets to the Rdio City Christmas Spectacular through PEF? I was sent the wrong amount of tickets.
Are officer within the agency - for example, if I work at NYSIF, so do they, and they're union officers within. NYSIF and nowhere else - are they paid?
I am having a real struggle with a time off situation due to extended illness. Getting anyone to help me has been like pulling teeth, and HR has been far more helpful and concerned than any in-agency union reps.
It's appalling no matter what, but if it turns out I'm also paying them a 6-figure salary with my dues, I'ma be REAL mad.
Good morning, everyone!!
Does anyone have any insight as to when the next NYS Parole CS test will be held? I’m under the impression the current list is due to expire next fall and hoping to find out whether or not that is accurate. Any insight appreciated!
I'm going for higher level positions that require higher education. No tests needed. I applied for one department I was really excited about 8 weeks ago. I didnt hear back, which is ok, you win some you loose some. I received another canvas letter for the same department. I was super excited, until I realized it was for the same exact position I already applied too 8 weeks ago. I really can't say if they have more than one postion open, but I'm not sure what to think if it is for the same exact postion and even though they have my info, posted again to find someone else? Is this common?
I thought it was November but am not finding any information anywhere.
Thank you!!
Anyone heard anything conclusive on the supposed geographic pay for PEF employees in the downstate regions? I heard for grades 20, 24, 27 it has been approved, but no word on amount nor time line when it will be introduced.
Does anyone know if you need to know someone to get hired there? Part of the application asks if you have family that works there. I've applied to a few positions and it seems like an uphill battle to even get an interview.
Hi! I am a Licensed Master Social Worker. I applied for a position at an OMH outpatient facility. They called me several days after I sent my application over. How do I prepare for the interview? Any advice?
I'm a young social worker and do not have years and years of experience. I graduated very recently, so I'm worried I may struggle with certain questions.
This seems like a waste of taxpayer money and government time. People in New York State already have plenty of arguments against funding government institutions, and I don't agree with them, but this seems like it's drawing plenty of bad press and fueling those arguments. (Sidenote, did you know the interim commissioner makes $220,000? I hope the rest of the departments' payscale is fairly distributed based on that top salary.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWyvyfUPzL0
Does any agency do either of these things? We are allowed to telecommute up to 50% but they are now going to be making people share desks, and it doesn't seem like they have thought it out at all.
If your agency does desk sharing/hoteling what does that look like? Do half of the employees HAVE to WFH while the other half is in office? We're allowed to move our days around, as long as we don't go over the 50% which is why I have a hard time picturing this working.
I feel like something like this is more feasible when people are WFH more than they're in office. Is DCJS still allowing 60%? Any other agencies above 50%?
I am considering joing a department in WNY. I am concerned about getting stuck at the same position for the rest of my career as there does not appear to be a lot of positions above mine to move into. Is this something that is common?
Done anyone know the when the NY state java boot camp is going to post its openings again? I know it happens every 3 months and it started last in Aug. I havent seen anything yet but Im worried i missed the posting.
I think my interview went really good but no reach out to references even after 10 days. Or any other news!
I saw a position open up but I'm per diem and I was wondering if there is a different method in applying for this job than the standard general public. Also does anyone know if I'm currently in a step? For example step four if I get this job with that step be the same since it's the same grade? Thank you
Started one year for UUP on 10/18/23. I completed a self-evaluation form for my review. Is there a timeframe my supervisor has to complete and submit his review? I havent gotten anything yet. I would like a 3 percent raise though.....assuming its satisfactory. Thank you.
What a joke. Went to the dentist for a sudden toothache and they said I need a filling, but a claim needs to be filed first and will take up to 2 weeks to be approved??? The new Dental plan sucks and is worse than the old one!!
Hello everyone, I hope everything is fine, I would like to know if possible anyone can provide me an insight of how is to work on the position? How is the system? How is the work compare to the Feds agencies? I read reviews on glassdoor and other websites and most of them are negative about specifics situations but if someone can please provide me a more close insight I will truly appreciate.
I just got a call (about an hour ago) from the HR department of the NYS department of taxation and Finance for an auditor interview, she was supposed to to send the details of the interview to my email but I think they have the wrong email on file because I have yet to receive the email.
Is anyone here who can help me get in touch with the Queens office HR person to update the email on file. Any help is greatly appreciated
Note: the number they called me on is “out of service”
EDIT: Just resolved the issue by calling the office. Thanks for all your help.
I start in a couple weeks and I know parking is a nightmare for state employees. Is there anywhere safe I can park until I can get in a lot somewhere that won’t cause me to have to walk across the city?
If a list only has 2 active people does that mean the list is broken? I remember reading about promotional opportunities if a list is broken, 52.7 or something like that. If someone was to be promoted via that pathway would it be provisional?
Has anyone experience this, where a unit of 30 is now down to 6, due to people leaving? What will happen to the unit?
Wondered what peoples thoughts were on the comment made at the All ITS meeting that web cams should be on more often during meetings. This was expounded on at a dedicated agency meeting yesterday, it seems to be the expectation in our agency now... we'll have to see what actually happens. Was curious if this was trickling down to other areas of ITS.
I think I might get a job offer to be an budget examiner for the Public Protection Unit. I've heard the DOB can be brutal in terms of maintaining a work life balance, but I've also heard it depends on the unit and supervisor. Any insight or specifics into the matter would be greatly appreciated!
For context, I currently work at job that requires me to be present at all hours of the day and most weekends. I'm very much looking to have a 9 to 5 at this point due to severe burnout.
I understand that late hours are required during budget season but I'm trying to get a realistic view on the frequency and duration of the overtime.
Thanks in advance!
Hey everyone, I am a 25 year old with a B.S who has been working in the private sector for 3 years. I started as a router/dispatcher and am now working with the same company managing our fleet. I’m interested in working for the NYS DOT for the long term benefits. I just wanted to gauge to see if anyone has any opinions or recommendations when looking for a job at DOT. If anyone has any positions I should take a look at or anything that is more than welcome.
Would any state department go through the process of interviewing me, calling references, sending a civil service application and asking for copy of degree if they were not going to make an offer?
I want to know if I should get a little excited.
General question: when filing an appeal on an eval, where do you find your agency’s appeal board? Because I can’t at all. Usually there’s information about who to send what and where, but this is suspiciously unfindable.
Hi,
Signing up for the Empire Plan through my NYS employment for 2025.
I Previously used my other employment benefits. I'm just wondering what people think of NYS's FSA provider... ie: are they a pain to get things reimbursed from or is it worth signing up for?
I've had one in the past that made me regret putting money in because I had such a hard time getting repayments.
At another job, we had one that linked so well to my health insurance that they'd auto-reimburse my checking account whenever there was any type of charge to my employer health insurance plans (like prescriptions or dental or office copays) without me doing anything.
Which is the NYS one more like and what do people think of it?
So I am starting a new m/c job and am curious about IPP?
Anyone help me understand if I should do it or not? I don’t really understand the benefit?
