Welcome! I figure that there are probably enough vegan redditors in New York to have a subreddit of our own!

Hey all! Where’s everyone getting their thanksgiving preorders at this year?! (Included gf options would be nice cause I’m both)
i have like one vegan friend in NYC and i want more friends with the same ethics as me. any sort of vegan meetups in NYC?
Hello! I'm planning to visit NYC this Christmas with my parents. I have spent quite a bit of time exploring the city and have a pretty good handle on most of the touristy must-see/dos, but I am hoping to find a nice spot for Christmas Brunch and/or Dinner. Open to basically anything, including a harbor tour if you know that there are reliable vegan options onboard any of the local cruises? My parents are omni and I'm sure they'd appreciate omni-friendly spots (though they're usually pretty good about trying fully vegan spaces). Nicer/upscale but not crazy expensive (thinking $75-100/pp) would be nice, but willing to hear all options! Let me know what you've got for suggestions!
Don't get me wrong, the food is fantastic. Amazing creations, tasted great. But for up to like $30 per plate they were TINY. And I'm not just talking "smaller portions" tiny, like the server specifically said "these are sharing plates and you'll probably need five of them for two people". They were also all mushrooms with almost nothing else. I know, I know, it's a mushroom restaurant. I've been to mushroom-focused restaurants in the past (The Haunt in Savannah comes to mind), and they've ALL had dishes featuring mushrooms. Pasta with mushrooms, a mushroom sandwich of some sort, etc. But Third Kingdom was JUST mushrooms.
While it tasted great, the portions and content were so unsatisfying that after spending like $160 for two people we went and got pizza at Two Boots.
My friend and I are looking to do afternoon tea in NYC, they are vegan but I am not. I'm having trouble finding places that offer vegan scones/savories/sweets.
Our go-to is alice's tea cup which is always a classic, but we were hoping to try somewhere new. Thanks for any recs!
Hi! I am looking for restaurants in Manhattan that will have Vegan Thanksgiving options on Thanksgiving, as well as the days before Thanksgiving. I know Red Bamboo will be open. Was looking for other places as well. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for all the responses! I settled on the Red Bamboo restaurant in the village for thanksgiving day. I’ll definitely try out the places suggested when I get a chance! Planning on eventually going to every Vegan restaurant that nyc has to offer. 💚💚💚
I need a brunch place that will have non vegan options for everyone else but also have vegan (or at least dairy free) waffles or pancakes for my son.
I'm visiting nyc in january and almost every place has some version of wings/drumsticks now: screamers, red bamboo, vegan on the fly, modern love etc etc etc
I won't have time to try them all, so whats your favorite place?
We’ve been craving in but can’t find any! Ideally Manhattan but willing to travel.
Searched the sub and was surprised this hasn’t been asked. Moving to the city in a few weeks, partner coming out for a week and we’re going to eat all the food. Indian is our favorite, so please hit me with your best spots (don’t necessarily have to be vegan restaurants)
Thanks!
Does this exist and if so where can I find it?
Hey all,
I've recently started volunteering with the Humane Party, an independent vegan political party with a chapter in NYC. We're holding an online Zoom meeting on 6/19 from 6:00-7:30pm to connect, network and build the 2025 platform for NYC elections where we hope to run a vegan candidate.
We'd love to grow involvement in the community and I'm extending an invitation to join us on 6/19 to learn more, have fun and help develop the slate of issues. Please shoot me a message to RSVP and receive a link.
Hello! Traveling into NYC and looking for some recommendations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, please! This will be my 5th time in the city so I’ve hit some great spots. There’s some spots that have been on my list forever and I’ve added new ones so I’m getting anxious hahah I want to eat it all!! If you have a top 3 for both manhattan and Brooklyn (or 3 each) please let me know! Thank you!

Any suggestions for restaurants with nut free options? Open to any type of cuisine :)
Does anyone know where I can find this--the sort of savory smoked tofu you can buy at places like Lidl or Aldi in the EU? My partner lives in Europe and every time I visit I eat massive amount of this stuff. I'll eat it raw as a snack. I'm obsessed. But haven't been able to find it anywhere in NYC. Does anyone have any leads? I know Chinese-style smoked tofu is different and has more sweetness, I think--I've occasionally found this at restaurants.
Any good vegan food festivals coming up? Others than vegandale
HIello fellow vegans. To help the next person that googles “vegan brooklyn reddit” I wanted to share a recent experience my partner Amanda and I had as we did a vegan food tour of Brooklyn. We’ve already done one of these in the lower east side and were excited for brooklyn, as she lived in the area a decade ago. We wanted to hit up as many spots as we could and decided that we would only get one item from each place and split the dish (except for a full dinner at the last place). We hit up 8 different locations that day covering Williamsburg down to the botanical garden. We walked and used the Citibikes for this journey which covered about 12 miles. Our feet hurt after lol. This day spanned from 8am to 7:30pm reservations at Modern Love, including an hour nap. Here’s a list of all the places in the correct order and also a map of the locations (in almost the correct order)
Butchers Daughter
Guevaras
ATM vegan deli
Clementine’s
Mexico authentico

Slutty vegan
Modern Love
We had a slightly more ambitious goal than we ended up doing. We wanted to included a leg of the journey hitting up Seitans Helper and Dunwell doughnuts (Dunwell was the impetus of the whole journey too!), as well as Mil Mundo and the Free Black Women's Library. On the day of the tour we also hit up the botanical garden and several radical spaces before dinner which I was as equally impressed by as the food. Playground Annex, The Word is Change, and Property is Theft. I adored PIT. Her Story Archives was on the route but didn’t have a showing for that date.
Food reviews:
Butchers Daughter
Guevaras
Pan dulce. Great crunch, nice and sweet. 8/10
ATM vegan deli
Clementine’s
Peanut doughnut. 9/10 perfectly cooked doughnut, great flavor.

This tour was definitely more spreadout than the lower east side (because, uh, density) where we walked the whole day, but it was well worth it. We thought Brooklyn had more of an identity than the les, as well as more than most cities I’ve been to. and Modern Love was awesome. A+.
Honorable mention: the day before this we went to Screamers and Ras Plant Based. The pizza at Screamers was the best pizza I’ve ever had! And Ras was awesome too.
Ethopians knew what was up with plants.
We’re thinking Philly next!
Any recommendations for a good vegan/vegetarian restaurant to celebrate a birthday? Not a birthday party, just a celebratory date with 2 of us.
Anyone know where to get a vegan rum cake? I've just been craving one and unable to find it. I'll buy the whole fucking cake travel anywhere for it at this point!
My wife and I are looking to join a group, or a restaurant, or something doing a 100% vegan Thanksgiving dinner this year. Our parents are no longer doing Thanksgiving, so we're trying to find somewhere to go with likeminded people!
A large community one, or at a restaurant, whatever is clever. Just looking for options.
Thanks! :)
Girlf and I will be in Brooklyn mid March and we're hoping to hit up as many spots as possible. Please send us your recommendations!
Hi! I made a reservation for my girlfriend and I at ladybird on Valentine’s Day. Realized we will still be working since when we are travelling from out of state. The reservation is non-refundable. Looking for someone to buy the ticket. It is 150 for two people tasting menu!
See above
I had the breakfast sandwich from Garden Carver and it was so good 10/10
Anyone know of anywhere that makes/sells vegan cannoli?
I got a small bonus and want to splurge on some good vegan food. Trying to decide between Coletta and Double 0. Will be taking my mom and we both love pizza and pasta. Anyone been to both and have an opinion about which is better. Any other recommendations for where to splurge?
Does anyone have good recs for a restaurant with good vegan options for brunch that is also omni? open to any neighborhood, but trying to find something for a larger group that accommodates vegan/non-vegan.
Hi everyone! I have two early entry tickets to vegandale that I unfortunately will not be able to use because I caught covid :( Tickets are nonrefundable so my loss is your gain! If you're interested in going let me know and I can send you the tickets!
