John Sykes(Tygers of P.T., Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy) has died.

He was one of my favourite guitarists ever and i'm absolutely devastated by this loss, truly among one of the worst losses of this year.

A Curious Oddity: Chaser - Raiders - The Anthology

I came across this in a record store in Norfolk, Virginia. Had no idea what it was let alone that it was from the NWOBHM, just thought the art looked cool and it was cheap so I bought it, now I find out that this band was active in the 80’s NWOBHM scene but no one’s ever heard of them. They only ever released a single until this compilation album came out in 2016 of songs they recorded throughout the 80’s but never published. I was wondering if any of the experts on here know anything about their story because I’m really struggling to find any info on the internet but it’s super cool.

Looking for a NWOBHM band - to join!!! (You read that right!)

I have cleared this with the MOD, so here goes.....

A few weeks back, HOLOCAUST, posted an ad looking for a guitar player. I had been scouting opportunities prior to that, so I answered the ad. Almost immediately, their social media went dark. Don't know what happened there.

I am a seasoned player - 35 years of stage and recording experience. US Passport (and Citizen) but living on CRETE - fully retired and financially secure. I have tons of pro gear, stage experience, and excellent stage presence.

What am I looking for? I'm looking for a NWOBHM era band, that wants to play all of the great European festivals, but might have lost a player for any number of reasons. If that is keeping them from playing big festivals - I want to be the guy that fills the void. It could span out to other bands from other places - if Celtic Frost or SODOM are looking - I wouldn't sneeze at that.

I'm a fast learner - great player - and along with the recordings I've made, have opened shows for Motorhead, Nazareth, Uriah Heep, Blue Oyster Cult, Bad Company, Poison, Motley Crue, The Outlaws and Wishbone Ash. These have been in smaller theaters - maybe 3,000 tops for BOC.  So, I can hold my own.

If you have any leads to any band that just wants to do summer shows (I don't really want to join a band full-time) please let me know.

Message me, and I'll send you links to my press kit, which has many examples of my playing, pictures, my gear, etc.

I have EXCELLENT references from people still in the game. My connections with these bands go back almost 40 years. I made great friends, and have a few people on the lookout.

In order of what I'd like to find.... Lead Guitar > Rhythm Guitar > Bass.

Money is not my motivator. I'm set for life. Just would like to finally do some big shows.

Thanks in advance.

I took the original vocals from the Bangles' version of 'Hazy Shade of Winter', and recorded a new backing track, to try to envisage how it might have sounded if the band had been influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal! Hoped some here might find it amusing!

Holocaust's 90s records

Are seriously underrated. I get big Die Kreuzen and Voivod vibes from them, and those are two of my favorite bands, alongside Godflesh, Melvins, Husker Du, Bad Brains, Neurosis and Immolation. Thoughts?

Favourite NWOBHM 7"

I would personally say Manitou by Venom, Wild on the Run by Tobruk and No More Lonely Nights by Saracen are my favourites. What about you?
