Recently went to get an alignment on my 05 toyota solara and was informed that they couldnt align my rear tires due to my struts needing a replacement. They quoted me around 1200 dollars, which is not a price im willing to settle for if I do not have to. Are there any mechanic who are affordable and do good work? I usually go to reeders in portage but although they do good work, they tend to be pricey as well. Any recommendations would be helpful.

I tried looking this up on the NIPSCO site but couldn't find an answer. We are on the budget plan ($212 a month, up from $179 last year). I paid the bill tonight and looked at the bill and it says the actual account balance is $531.13. I always pay on time and in full, so I'm not understanding the actual account balance part. Is that how much I would actually owe if I wasn't on the budget plan? Thanks for any help in advance.

Been hard pressed to find a notary for filling out documents. The state keeps telling us we need a "stamp" notary seal instead of a "press". Been to the courthouse, they say they don't do it there. Any suggestions? Is there a database or list with notaries by area?

Hello all! As other communities have had construction & public transit growth as well I truly believe Whiting/Robertsdale would have tremendous growth from having it's own South Shore Station. I believe the station could be built around Sheffield Ave/the area south of Wolf Lake. I, an urbanite, would love this; but being a Robertsdale local, I am sure some residents would despise this idea. If W/R could have direct transit to Chicago I think it could become the next Wicker Park. Thoughts/Concerns?

My fiancé and I are looking to rent we want to stay under $900 a month if we can and we’re okay with any location in Nwi being as we don’t mind commuting a bit to get to and from work we do have 1 cat and 1 dog but if dogs are not allowed we do have a place for our dog to live (with my parents) having a hard time finding a real person to rent from because there are so many online scams now.

Zel's Roast Beef, a Region institution that started serving big beef sandwiches to hungry steelworkers, is closing its flagship location in East Chicago's Indiana Harbor neighborhood after 58 years.

The Hammond and Crown Point locations will stay open.

The original Zel's, at 1318 E. Columbus Drive, will shutter on Nov. 15, owner Kal Patel said. The building is old and got increasingly expensive to maintain, so the owners made the decision to close.

"It meant a lot to East Chicago. People have come from the steel mills. It was part of the community," he said. "People have so many memories to share."

The restaurant specializes in beef sandwiches, Chicago dogs, Polish sausages, chili cheese fries and shakes. It's a no-frills fast-food restaurant with barstools lining the windows where most of the traffic comes in for carryout.

It's an established Region brand people have felt a strong connection to.

"I’ll tell you — it’s every summer from childhood, the banana milkshakes," Matt Travis II said. "It was home, really. My great-grandfather worked at Inland Steel, as I know it he would take the kids to Zel’s on payday and the kids would eat there after getting out of class at Washington High School. It’s like losing a family member. It always seemed to dodge time itself; I guess time just caught up. It was one of those places you just always thought would be there. A fixture of sorts for the community."

Anyone else experience the poor quality and service at Froyo Express in Munster? Went tonight... Most of the choices were out or melted, the place was dirty, and the kids behind the counter just sat while customers waited for their orders to be made.

2 people behind us walked out after trying to order.

1 of the 4 staff was loudly dropping F Bombs while there were little kids in the store

Owners better step in...Dairy Belle is a mile north and the service and product is 1000x better. I'll be traveling a little farther from now on for a treat.
