Fell in love with ESG, had to put some time into a shiny-only run. If you’re looking for a game to shinylock, the dexnav and free shiny charm make it pretty painless. Highly recommend it!
Basically its a nuzlocke where a pokemon’s primary types die. I’m calling it the PM7-locke because I think PM7 created it. Correct me if I’m wrong. Here’s his og PM7-locke: https://youtu.be/R4Ez4SgdgMw?si=EDa-oxqnF81RmtrB Wish me luck :)
So I’m doing a randomizer of HeartGold and I have had really bad luck with encounters. Either fainting them without meaning to or having to run because I’m throwing poke balls at a full health mon and they end up taking 10 balls before I have to kill it before it kills mine. Suppose I’ll get granular with it now. Ruins of Alph has an over world and a “in the ruins” aspect. Would you do two encounters there? Or one “Ruins of Alph” encounter.
A common complaint about people who play SV the regular way is that generic npc trainers tend to have only one Pokemon. But what they forget is that in older games, when a npc trainer had multiple Pokemon, it was usually multiple lower level of the same Pokemon like Geodude or Magikarp. The npc trainers in SV have one but strong Pokemon. What makes matters even worse is that trainer classes in SV do nothing to telegraph the Pokemon they use. It could be literally anything. Which, again, is different from older games which you could expect to battle a lot of Hikers with Rock/Ground types in a mountain area or lots of Swimmers with Water types in a sea route, so at least you could plan ahead.
Golden boi and grl, is what you get when you grind for too long. At first I thought I was unlucky to get two shiny poochyenna, but in my book the shiny clause also supersedes the duplicate clause. This dynamic duo just soloed Tate an Liza (5th attempt). I feel amazing!
On a side note, I've lost so many Pokémon just trying to level them up it's insane. Playing on fast forward makes grinding easier but it has huge risks if you're not fully paying attention. Good thing emerald has a ton of encounters.
Boufallants are a pain in the ass in this game, but the rest of his team is kinda manageable, although if you let his swoobat get a single nasty plot off things can get really bad really quicky
Well I had some major miss plays. ie Not teaching Haryiama a fighting move, forgetting Cheri berries vs body slam, Wallace’s Ludicolo. But we did it!
Didn't have any deaths for a while but when i did they just kept going. Agathas Gengar took out my Dugtrio, Lances Dragonite took out my Gyarados & Haunter. Blue defeated Arcanine & Vileplume with his Alakazam and finally his Charizard beat my Magneton. Ending My Nuzlocke. My final team of Dugtrio, Gyarados, Haunter, Arcanine, Vileplume & Magneton got taken out by a mix of Agatha, Lance & Blue. Definitely gonna give it another try soon but i had some rough deaths to Koga, Agatha, Lance & Blue.
Just started a new LeafGreen Nuzlocke to play at work when things are slow.
My level 2 Pidgey just Tackle crit-killed a lvl 4 Caterpie in Route 2, and leveled up to crit a lvl 6 Kakuna in Viridian Forest. C'mon man. Not the biggest loss but I like having a Butterfree for the early Confusion. 😂😂😂 Stupid crits. Flapster is a little murder bird. Hopefully he keeps it up, because at this rate I'm only going to have 2 Pokemon
I want to start off by thanking everyone who has submitted names for the run so far. I also need to emphasise that due to the large quantity of names in the pool, not everyone is going to get a mon named after them unless I abuse shiny clause. Without further adieu, let's begin.
Not soon after finishing moving into our new home in the Paldea region, the Director of Naranja Academy came calling to guide us to our new school, bringing with him a trio of energetic Pokémon.
Congratulations ChongJohn the Fuecoco! The first of hopefully many friends on our journey!
We also met one of our classmates, an outgoing and battle mad girl called Nemona, who immediately claimed the Directors Sprigatito to raise alongside us. Together we set off to school together, being taught the ropes of being a Pokémon trainer along the way.
As Nemona guides us along Poco Path, she takes the oppertunity to teach us about catching Pokémon when a wild Lechonk rushes forward to test us, swiftly being captures as our first proper encounter. Welcome aboard Paging!
After nearly falling to our death investigating the mysterious cry of an even more mysterious Pokémon, we trek through Inlet Grotto in order to make our way back to Nemona. During this climb we come across a Yumgoos, trapped by the debris our big red guardian created while clearing a path. After freeing the small creature it makes it known it wishes to join us. Happy to have you Deurbel!
Having escaped from Inlet Grotto and learned Koraidons name from Arven, we quickly nip back home to give Deurbel a check up from mum. Upon leaving however we are attacked by a spunky Squawkabilly who we subdue and add to our team. Pauley(Paul) wanna cracker?
While making up for lost time, we stumbled across a round pink Pokemon that had a lot to say for itself. A fine addition to the team Smiley :)
As we enter the small town of Los Platos, the chirping of birds can be heard overhead. Before we know it, a Fletching flying at 'Substantial' speed swooped by, giving me quite a shock. Such a speedy Pokémon will make a great addition to our team.
Just before entering the city of Mesagoza, Nemona challenged us to a battle and decided to show off the power of Terastalisation with her Pawmi. To make matters worse, she was able to score a crit against both ChongJohn and Deurbel, resulting in the first losses of our adventure.
After losing ChonJohn and Deurbel to Nemona we decide to try and recoup our losses by catching a new friend. A Hoppip noticed our low mood and floated over to try and cheer us up. Thank you and welcome Jumbolax.
Upon learning about the Treasure Hunt, we are pulled in two directions by Arven and Nemona, each wanting us to follow their lead. Thankfully a Tandemaus showed up from the hills north of Mesagoza and negotiated (Negotiation)our release. Thanks you two!
Day 18. I have been hunting for the mythical Pokémon Sunkern for what feels like weeks. I have run out of food and have resorted to eating the pages of this journal to sustain myself. While I have made no real progress in my hunt for Sunkern, I did stumble across an oddly coloured Azuril whom I've named Brickbuster. It shall be my next meal should the hunt take too long.
My psychotic ramblings over Sunkern were interrupted by Some strange chirping sound. Upon finding the source I became acquainted with a small bug Pokémon called Kricketot. The rhythmic chirping has helped greatly in restoring my state of mind as we continue on towards Cortondo.
Staring up at the nights sky as the nightmare of searching for a Sunkern was finally abandoned, I felt a wave of peace wash over me. It was then that I felt a light weight on my chest, looking down from the heavens to see a Moonlit silhouette of the object of my madened hunt. The legendary seedling was real after all.
During our training, we stumbled across one of the many lookout towers scattered across the Paldea region, the last relics of a civilisation long since passed. Climbing up the tower reveals a small tressure chest with an even smaller Pokémon guarding it's horde. Upon defeating it, Smiling begins to glow radiantly as its body inflates. When the light subsides it is revealed Smiling has evolved into Jigglypuff!
With our training complete we step up to the Cortondo Gym, breezing through the Olive rolling challenge and taking on the gym leader before we know it. Paul the Squawkabilly was a true Ace, able to take out Katy's whole team without taking a single hit!
Some had only been with us a short time but upon witnessing the Sugarbug, Katy, in action was inspired by the power of her bug type Pokémon, immediately evolving into Kricketune in the hopes of shining as brightly as the Gym Leaders Tera Teddiursa.
And that's the story so far! Once again thank you for submitting names for the run and I will update again after a few major events have taken place! Have a good Day, Priremal Out!

Starting an Ultra Sun Nuzlocke for the probably billionth time and was wondering what everyone does with the static encounters. Like after the route 1 catching tutorial, you’re guaranteed to encounter a Grubbin, do you count that as your Route 1 encounter or do you take the next?
The morning of the 17th day of voting has us looping back around to the Trial Captains themselves rather than the previously rated Totems, to be judged by whatever metrics Nuzlockers (you) think are most important
To reiterate: you’re welcome to change your vote after the fact. I’ll do my best to keep up with them. You know how I try to comment on each and every one of them with a generic platitude? It’s so that people who want edits can reply to my comment so that it’ll appear in my notifications and I can find it more easily
Mind the rules:
This tier-list is intended for Vanilla Nuzlockes, not ROM hacks
Please provide a final, definitive answer for each selection: don't say "either B or C depending on the game/starter" and then not indicate which one you choose. I need to know what to record
The cutoff time for this vote is 24 hours after the fact, give or take (8:35 AM, Eastern Standard Time)
I was playing Ultra Sun and through no fault of my own, (mostly) I dropped my 3DS and the cartridge popped out and I lost a good few hours of progress.
My entire team besides a mudbray got wiped at Mallow's trial, is this fate telling me to try again or should I just play up until the point I was at and box the mons who died on the previous run?
heyo: i'm kinda new to nuzlocke and i'm actually doing a trashlocke right now (so only lower stats pokemon):
i've figured that i should EV train properly: is there anyone that could explain to me
how do how know which and how many EV does every pokemon i could encounter give off?
do i get EV only after defeating a pokemon or after every hit/status move?
i have read that "brace" items could help but it's written on those that one stat gets halved: does it only last while my pokemon holds them or is it forever?
is there anyplace i could check which one is the best set of moves and EV for any of my pokemons?
this was brutal. lost 7 pokemon just on route 6. definitely wasn't playing optimally. advice for my restart? my mvps were baltoy eldegoss dottler liepard and duskull easily
So i got to jubilife city in my renegate platinum nuzlock, i got my team to level 11 same as my rival's highest level. So i went and fought Barry Alan on route 203. It went well until he brought out his Munchlax and threw a rock at my lil starly, skyraptor one hit koing it. So here's another art. Also the rest of my team was realy close to dieing. (Art by me once again)
My team is Typhlosion, Granbull, and Quagsire. They are all around lvl 45-55. Im thinking about putting an Exp Share on a low level Tarous I have in the bank. Or Im thinking about going back and using my masterball on Lugia. Do you think I should add Tarous or Lugia? Which one if I should? If not, what pokemon you think I should add that would help my team through Kanto to the end? If I should roll with the team I got thats cool too.
500 power isn't a joke. Over 2/3 of my Magneton HP without a crit
