Rewatching nurse Jackie and omg it so love and hate with Jackie. She is so hard headed and thinks she can do whatever with no consequences and hurts whoever to get out of her own issues but then she can be really kind and caring and her just loving to be a nurse is wild š such a good show
I just blew through 7 seasons in a few weeks. Itās my first time ever watching and I came to reddit to find my people to talk about it!
I really enjoyed this series and am in a grief phase now that it is over. Iām an alcoholic in recovery so I was worried about how the addiction stuff would be triggering for me but I didnāt find it to be. It was more hard to watch her continue to fall back into active addiction.
Iām curious about what everyone thought of the ending? I have to be honest Iām somewhat surprised Zoey took the urine test for her. I probably shouldnāt be, knowing how she feels about Jackie and their relationship. She always wanted to believe she was getting better, but also Zoey had a lot of character growth herself over the series and I think part of her knew she couldnāt ever trust Jackie again. Maybe she did it for the girls? Knowing what losing her license would do to them.
Anyway, I didnāt have much of a point to this other than I am glad I finally watched the series and happy I found a place where people are still talking about the show.
Okay I know itās been posted before. However Iām having a hyper fixation on season 8 and all the possibilities. I watched this when it hit the UK. I can remember thinking thank god I donāt do drugs etc. Well five years later I was a full blown snow addict and found myself relating. Thankfully Iām over four years clean from a short yet life changing addiction. I wanna see this in Jackie. I wanna root for her but she just never learns or changes. An addict will always be an addict unless they truly wanna change. Anyway sorry for the waffling on. Just very excited to see what all the possibilities could be if we do get a season 8.
Were they trying to portray Jackie attempting suicide with all that morphine she took or just getting extremely high? It was never addressed afterward and is still bothering me on my second re-watch.
I'm not an expert (thankfully), but every other show I've seen with addicts, they always talk about their "drug of choice". But Jackie will take anything and everything (morphine, oxy, fentanyl, whatever those blue pills were, whatever else was in her stash, even OTC Ibuprofen).
I get beggars can't be choosers and she needs SOMETHING to get through the day, but is that realistic or have the other shows been wrong? Wouldn't she need whatever specific hard drug it was she got hooked on in the first place (or only something very close it) to avoid withdrawal? It seems like not just any drug should work to prevent that (like the other fentanyl guy they showed going through withdrawal -- I don't think giving him a ton of booze would help, for example).
I love the show, I'm not criticizing, but I'm genuinely confused on this part.
I just finished Season 1 for the second time, after becoming yet another viewer extremely saddened by the series finale but I understand. Hey, if Edie Falco herself knew it was time for Jackie to go then ...
I have 2 new observations and 1 question:
This time around as the very first episode is beginning, even before they show Jackie on the floor, weāre shown a ācloud likeā image with the sound of a siren followed by the flatline sound on a heart monitor. I hadnāt remembered that. And now after watching the Season 1 finale after Jackie has ingested 3 vials of morphine laying on the floor, this time I notice this detail. Sheās shown wearing the original style nurseās uniform but it also looks like thereās 3 little baggies in her hand (like the heroin in series finale) and not the morphine as it previously showed her tucking them into her smock pocket.
And my question...so what happened after this morphine episode? Season 2 begins with the family on a get away but no mention of that ever happening.
In season 1, episode 1, Jackie is sending her preceptee home. She is putting IV medication in the IV system and pulls it out dramatically. She says, āI almost killed you!ā and kisses the patientās head.
What error did she make?
The actor who plays Charlie Cruz is Jake Cannavale, the real life son of actor Bobby Canavale aka Dr Mike Cruz. Filming their final scene together must have been brutal for both men.
How does Jackie always take her pills without a drink? She always just swallows them dry. I could never!
Dr. Cruz is so damn sexy I loved the Charlie storyline so much it was so shocking and heart breaking. What do you think would have happened if dr. Cruz and Jackie would have ended up together? Ugh!! Heās so sexy
I have so many observations/opinions/stuff. I like the show a lot so far. I loooove Edie Falco- she is just amazing in everything. I had to google this- but Charlie Cruz is actually Dr Cruzās son IRL- they looked so much alike I knew he had to be- I love that actor too- heās in so much good shit like 6 ft under and sec and the city and so much stuff, anywho- Love Gloria and OāHara- sometimes love Zoey sometimes find her facial expressions too annoying. Im an addict in recovery and some stuff is so annoying to me- and a special touch I liked is when she was sober how she had a genuine smile/ laugh. Thatās so accurate - bc before she was so numb. I know she relapses I think a few times because I read spoilers. I have not idea what the point of doctor Ruben or whatever her name is. Okay bye
Hi where can I watch this, or at least the first season, for free right now? In USA
And why is it Kevin?
After her fighting for her sobriety and getting hired back at All Saints and getting her hours fixed he alley-ooped and got a lawyer out of left field?? Canāt she sue for that? Itās so infuriating!
Iām on a rewatch and currently at the end of season two. I know Zoeyās bright and cartoonish scrubs are a running joke but Iāve noticed that sometimes the pattern is a reference to whatās going on in the episode.
Itās directly referenced by Jackie and the rest of the staff in season 1 episode 11 and 12. When Zoey accidentally gives the movie critic the wrong dose of medication and puts him in a coma. She changes her animal patterned scrubs to drab grey ones that everyone complains about because she is feeling guilty due to her mistake.
But Iāve also noticed some subtle references as well. Like in season 2 episode 7 (I think?), when sheās going through a religious crisis after she has a pregnancy scare and is dealing with the emotional conflict of trying to be a good person surrounded by sex/lying/stealing, etc. Her scrubās pattern were cherries, which to me signifies purity, i.e virginity/ āpopping your cherryā.
Obviously as the show and Jackieās addiction progresses, Zoey fully swaps her patterned scrubs for neutral blue ones with Jackie completely destroying her trust and faith in others but has anyone else noticed any other specific examples between her scrubs and the plot/Zoeyās conflict during the episode?
Itās my comfort show and Iām looking for something similar that I can binge. Any recommendations??
Itās been a while since Iāve read anything about Nurse Jackie and Weeds coming back. Has anyone heard anything?
And also sue the fuck out of Kevin and Mia. I think itād be highly justified and kick them right off their ābetter than youā pedestal. Itād be an interesting twist of Mia giving birth to Kevinās baby in prison. But Iām petty af.
At one point, Jackie checked her bank account balance and the teller told her she had $500 left.
How realistic is that? Because she's a registered nurse in New York and she's been working there for over 2 decades if I remember correctly.
I live in a 3rd-world country and I'm not super familiar about expenses in the States, especially in New York, it's one of the most expensive cities in the world.
Thought?
She was whipping up some marijuana edibles for her patient and she crushed up some marijuana and placed it in a batter, which is entirely incorrect.
The process of making "edibles" involves infusing cannabis into a fat or oil base through a process called decarboxylation, where the THCA (non-psychoactive compound in raw cannabis) is converted into THC. This process typically involves heating the cannabis at a specific temperature for a certain duration to activate the cannabinoids, allowing them to be absorbed by the fat or oil.
Can't believe they got that bit wrong. How ironic because these are medical professionals we're talking about.
First time watcher here, I first saw tidbits of nurse Jackie as a kid, now I'm giving it a watch as an adult. I'm on season 3 and can I just say: Kevin is so ANNOYING dude. He is so bothersome and I'd go as far as saying he is a POS, the way he refuses the tuition for Fiona, the way he gets mad at Jackie for being a nurse after going to the hospital to talk to her about what? Oh, paying the second kid's tuition himself. Him scrambling to push Jackie out of their daughters' lives?
I mean your wife is a working lady, and a NURSE at that, he should support her not blame her for anything missed and resent her. If that's how it is, I don't understand why he was still with her by the time he found out about the pharmacy bills.
Rewatching nurse Jackie and certainly in the series some people have noticed she was high like Sam and Kelly. Iām on season 5 finale though and I just donāt get how a room full of NA members wouldnāt notice sheās high at her anniversary celebration. The show implies she has a high tolerance and was taking a lot of pills and while she did make some mistakes at work how was she such a functional addict ? Especially with opiates there are some physical signs
Finally on season 7 and I gotta say..
She goes to the cabinet at the ladies house shes taking care of and I verbally went come on Jackie...
like seriously? It's killing me. I really want her to get help, it hurts how much she's destroyed everything in her life..
WHYYYYYYY WOULD U TAKE HER TO DINNER JUST TO SAY YOURE PREGNANT WITH NEW WIFE OHHHH MY GOD I CANT TELL YOU HOW MAD I AM LOLOL I HATE U KE VIN
I loved those guys, but they just vanished without a word.
As a nurse myself, I understand that people come and go. But I grew to like those two! It sucked that they werenāt even written out, they just disappeared.
