If I am straight out of college and have a low gpa will I still have a good chance of employment.

I am about to be a senior with a degree of computer science with a concentration of cybersecurity. But have a gpa below 3.0 due to extracurriculars is there a good chance I could still get a job. Are there any good projects I could do to mitigate this I am also planning to get my sec + by end of July.

Interview for exploitation analyst

I have an interview coming up for an exploitation analyst position. Do anyone know what questions they usually ask for this specific role or is it situational based?

7 years foreign contact

For the foreign contact it says do you have or have had a continuing contact with a foreign national within the last seven years. Heavy emphasis on thi. I’m getting tripped up by this question, does this mean I have to have had contact with this person for atleast 7 years to list them or if I’ve known them a 7 year window? I have a foreign contact I’ve know since 2022 but that’s about 1-2 years and that’s within a 7 year window but I googled it and one site said it means I have to have had contact with this person for 7 years or more?

Advice for Applying to NSA

I am currently working for the United States Postal Service for almost 18 years. At twenty years, I would like transfer to NSA. I have a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice but I would like to get a certificate or advanced degree since I do not have any experience in any field relating to NSA. I am interested in Intelligence.

I have applied a couple of times for the Polygraph Examiner position just to get my foot in the door but I did not get an interview. I hope that if I use the next two years to get some sort of education certificate or degree, I will be in a better position to get hired.

I want to wait two years because I make a good salary with USPS and have the option for overtime. In two years, I would be able to pay off my mortgage and be debt free. I noticed that for me to take an entry-level position, I will have to take an initial pay cut. I would rather do that after I am debt-free.

Thanks in advance for any advise you could give me to prepare myself over the next two years.

Child support from current employee

Hi all, I’m trying to find out what office and phone number to contact for a verification of employment at NSAW. A close friend of mine has divorced a current NSA employee and lives in a different state, and they need to file paperwork with NSAW to begin receiving child support from the employee at NSA. The personnel office was no help whatsoever. My friend has a court order for the child support amount, but the attorney general in the state they filed in doesn’t have any information on where to send the statement of withholding.

How long does it typically take for a recruiter to respond?

Hi everyone. I have recently received an email from my recruiter saying I was selected to move forward in the hiring process after the interview. The recruiter also attached several HR forms that I need to complete and return within three days. I filled out the forms and returned them to my recruiter on the same day I received the email, and I have also sent another email with a follow-up question. However, three days have passed, and I am still waiting to hear back from my recruiter. Is it completely normal, or is it an indication that I need to be aware of? I am fresh out of college and only have two internships and some part-time work experience, and I would greatly appreciate any insight!

Hiw do you list your NSA experience on resume/LinkedIn?

How Is one allowed to say the following things on LinkedIn: -one’s security clearance level -that one passed psych evaluation and polygraph (this means something to other employers I’d think, right?) -which agency you worked for (are you only allowed to say something generic like “DoD”?) -what you did (I’d assume you can go into detail, but maybe not IF you also give a more specific agency name)

Do you have an HR contact you can (or must) get approval of anything you post?

If you go complete all the processing but don’t get FJO, what of the above is still “salvageable”. For example, under “skills/certifications”, can you put things like tests passed and clearance level?

HR questions

Hello I recently got an email from them with all the HR forms and I just want to double check to make sure I’m not getting scammed as my forms have my personal information.

The email ended in @uwe.nsa.gov ? Is it legit? I’m only asking because I have not seen anything on my dashboard other than it saying interview /testing which I have already done. I have not received any calls either. When I called the number on the email belonging to a Lauren F. The hr person the voice mail came back to an Austin Savage( whole man) why would the specialist put someone else’s number, if it was a professional number there would be a mailbox in regards to the nsa and the name Lauren…I’m glad I caught this before I submittted my paper work to this address but I just want to be on the safe side and do my research…it sucks because I was really happy about this potential job offer but it is also alittle suspect I did not receive any calls and the voicemail to the number sounds very unprofessional and belonged to another person.

Can I get hired by the Intel community fresh out of college?

Hi,

For some background, I am pursuing a degree in political science. I am also a member of Army ROTC. I have a good GPA (3.6+). I am wondering, if I branch intelligence and go into the national guard, would I have a realistic chance of being hired by an intelligence agency (whether NSA, CIA, FBI, or even in the private sector)??

Thank you for your time!

What “rotations” would a student experience at NSA?

Not sure if I’m phrasing this right, but I’m told that a summer or scholarship student would be exposed to different “practice groups”. My student is not super interested in cyber security, (which we assume would be the bulk of what nsa does), and is interested in AI. Could anyone reply or PM me what different areas he might be exposed to, so that we don’t waste any more effort with the intense processing that might not even be worth the effort if it’s for work they aren’t interested in.

Security is obviously a huge and growing area, it just isn’t my kid’s jam.

Navy Reservists in NSA?

As the title says, are there any Navy Reservists who work for the NSA as their civilian job? Am I being silly in asking this as well? For some reason, it's been hard to get a clear answer on this.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Review email after MDLA hirevue interview

Hi, I applied for a MDLA position, had 2 appointments/tests last month, for both languages. After few weeks I received an email for hirevue interview. Then couple of weeks after hirevue interview, I received an email saying that “My application is under review. My resume is being forwarded for further consideration”. I don’t understand why I’m receiving Review email after the interviews. My understanding is after this round they either send CJO or rejection email. Can anyone please help me understand the reason of this email?

Processing for other positions after receiving NSA CJO for one position?

Hi, I wanted to know if after receiving CJO for one position, I’ll still be considered for other positions i applied for? Or CJO for one position means rejection for other positions I applied? I know it’s a silly question but wanted to be certain.

CNDA vs Systems Vulnerability analyst

Looking to get an idea from someone what these two roles kinda lead into?

I’m wanting to be a vulnerability researcher later in my career as I really enjoy low level programming, x86, and just working within IDA Pro. Will either of these positions leverage those skills and take me to the next level? I saw the Vulnerability analyst one mentions fuzzing and other cool stuff but the CNDA also talks about the same thing so I’m kinda confused who does what?

NSA Contract Question

Was curious if anyone had experience with leaving the NSA during the contract agreement for development programs. I am essentially moving away from home, not sure if I can last the 3-4 year stay + some other reasons. I definitely like the idea of development programs and the benefits, just not sure about staying across the country for that long. Does the payback cost thousands upon thousands of dollars, or is fairly reasonable? Thanks!

NSA DSE Question

Greeting everyone, just a a question about the interview process. I recently applied for a position and interviewed for it. Shortly after the interview, I was offered a CJO (I was emailed by the team head / interview head that a CJO was being filed for me). A week later HR reached out to me to get the paper work started. I also noticed that I have an invite to do the Pearson NSA DSE exam. Considering that I already got a CJO and HR reached out to me, is the DSE exam optional? Do yall do the DSE after or before the interview?

Counterintelligence investigator

I saw this position open on the nsa site but the details are pretty vague. Could anyone shine a light on what these people do? It says conduct investigations but if I’m just doing background checks all day, this won’t be something I’m interested in.

Hiring Process

Hello,

I have been applying for the Applied Social Scientist (initially immediately rejected while in grad school, rejected during In Review right after finishing grad school, and now sitting In Review for 4-5 months after applying in November after ~6 months working in my current role directly related to this job posting).

Does anyone know if it's possible to sit perpetually in In Review and be rejected but not have it reflected on the Dashboard? I have emailed the general inbox but didn't receive a reply (although I did when I was initially In Review and their answer was actually very accurate in terms of time table of a decision being made!).

Any help would be appreciated, I noticed the posting being placed again so I applied but just curious whether the previous position I applied for has probably gone to the next steps and I wasn't a part of that.

Has anyone participated in the Summer Language Internship Program?

I am wondering what it takes to be accepted to the Summer Language Internship Program as a college student. What type of experiences are they looking for besides language knowledge(I speak Russian and Ukrainian natively)? Leadership? Entrepreneurial? Volunteering?

MDLA Position Language Analyst

Hello! I am currently in a long process to get clearance before I start as a language analyst. I have received a CJO starting at a GS07. I was thinking of going back to school for a Master's but I do not have the money for that and was possibly thinking of doing that when I am employed at NSA.

Does anyone know if they adjust your salary if you get a Masters or PhD during your time working for the NSA?

I also wanted to reach out and ask if anyone can please tell me what day to day operations look like and what kind of work that I'll be doing as a language analyst and where the room for growth is, or if there are jobs with double the salary after I garner a couple years of experience in this position?

I'm kind of nervous because I've never worked for the feds before and I'm wondering how intense or if it is worth it to work for the feds especially since there was a government shut down not too long ago. I currently work for the state and while it is a pretty comfortable position, there's not a lot of room to grow.

CJO - But told that the agency does NOT negotiation salary?

This week, I received a CJO for a position at the agency. However, I find the offer to be low considering my extensive experience. Despite having 8 years of naval officer experience, prior work within the agency, and significant corporate experience, I was only offered a GG11 Step 1 position.

When discussing this with my recruiter, they informed me that the agency does NOT negotiate offers at all. I'm curious if this is indeed the case. Are there any official guidelines that explicitly state this policy?

Denied for position (I already have), why?

I have been in the Military for 6 years and spent time at the mothership and in Hawaii. I was a Cyber Security MOS. I have a clearance, ive worked on plenty of mission there etc, etc...

I am very close to separating and submitted my application and resume. I received a reply right away saying I was chosen for an interview. I completed the HireVue interview and the next day received the email stating, " we have determined that we are unable to move forward with our pre-employment processing."

WTH? The position was for Entry to Experienced. I answered the technical questions accurately.

The ONLY thing I can possibly think of was the last question that says, Rank the locations in order of preference, only locations that you would be open to working at. It lists TX,HI,GA,MD. It says keep in mind Hawaii is for entry only.

What did i put? Hawaii only.

Could this possibly be the reason I was denied? Thanks in advance.

What are the working conditions like at Ft. Meade?

I'm in the process of getting cleared and I wonder what the physical conditions are like for workers. I assume you can't really leave to get a starbucks, so is there good coffee? How's the cafeteria?

The benefits brochure says they allow for 1.5 hours or leave per week for gym/physical fitness.... is there a nice gym on the base?

I'm just curious about the creature comforts. There's a lot online about what the mission is like and the type of colleagues you'll work with, but very little about the work environment.
