The Map Editor http://www.noxcommunity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1428
The map editor is the most powerful tool of course, we managed to incorporate the games entire scripting system into it and it is extendable, unfortunately it is also a labor of love, you'll have to excuse the quirks. It comes with a suite of other tools, a basic player editor, a sound file unpacker, two admin tools, one to monitor servers and one to remotely control them. It is very nearly complete.
The NoX Packer http://www.noxforum.net/index.php?topic=4415.0
This tool unpacks the entirety of NoX's main data base of objects and in game entities into easily editable XML files, it can then repack them back into their original format. You can edit pretty much any value on any item or creature with this, it can also add or remove items and entities from the game.
The Mod Suite http://www.noxforum.net/index.php?topic=1504.0
A somewhat incomplete tool suite with two very critical functions, one it can decode and save natively all of the files that the packer does not handle, and two it can extract, browse, and import to/from every single frame of animation or static image in the game.
The Nox SDL Loader http://www.reddit.com/r/Nox/comments/1aa6nf/nox_sdl_insertion/
An injection tool that implements SDL 2.0 as the rendering engine instead of NoX's original and defunct DirectDraw. This is more compatible with newer systems.

NoX has been around since my early childhood days. My brother introduced me to this game. We're not so close today, but I'll forever be grateful for him.
I always come back to this game no matter my life situation or anything like that. The immersive gameplay, simple controls, multiple class choices and the fact that every class has its OWN story and dialogue is just mind blowing for me. The effort that was invested into this game is insane. It sucks that NoX was released around the same time as Diablo II because I believe it would be as big as Diablo if it wasn't overshadowed by it.
It pains me when I try to search anything NoX related and the most irrelevant search is the game itself.
Unfortunately, this game may forever be a hidden gem, but I'll make sure my future kids or grandkids know about this game.
Thank you, Westwood.
Maybe play a wizard path as a different class (a mage), or have 3x more mana available as a wizard etc.
Or even have the staff of oblivion from the first chapter...
Cheats are too overpowered and make me lost the interest in the game.
Spent 3 hours on this so far and can't find a way to get files out of nox and into a pc folder. Can anyone help?
Hi, this my first time in Nox. I'm having a problem of ammunition for bow being very scarse. I don't know if it is by design or if i am doing something wrong. I just finished the mines, and only quivers of simple arrows I've encountered by far were 1 from ix's shop and 4 or 5 from a merchant on the crossroads before the mines. The drops of arrows are practically non-existent. So the question is where to get arrows consistently. Can I reload merchants' stocks by sleeping or waiting somwhow?
Hey everyone!! I have played through the first area of Nox Reloaded, and have come to find that I missed a TON of secret areas. Is that a bad thing? Should I print out a walkthrough with secret locations, or just keep playing? I want to get the full experience, but am torn with this question. Any and all help is appreciated!!
Title of the post. Just in case a few folks don't know it yet! I discovered it a long time ago but didn't have the opportunity to post it somewhere (bc old game)
Hi everyone! I am playing Nox after many years, and I am now doing the campaing with the Conjurer (my favourite class ❤️). I have always wondered if and where I can find the scrolls to summon creatures such as the Beholder (the three eyed creature met in the temple of Ix), or shadow (the creature met in the swamp), etc. Is it my impression or some conjuration scrols simply aren't supposed to be found during the Conjurer campaign?
There doesn’t seem to be any extensive single player guides for Nox (that I could find online). If there is one please let me know! I’ve beaten the game once with all three classes and have probably found at least 90% of all the secrets in the game, so I’m wondering what kind of info people would like to see in a single player guide for Nox?
Secret locations?
Spellbook Locations?
Beast Scroll Locations?
Gold Optimization?
Gameplay Strategies?
Best Items to Keep?
Walkthroughs?
Would any of these be useful in a Nox Guide?
To owners: it works like a charm! Got my copy off GOG and I'm using Heroic Launcher, you can even set up the joysticks to control movement as if it was designed for joypad (similar to diablo on console). I setup a separate sensitivity on the track pad to make it easier to grab items (not ideal but definitely playable). Also the UI is a bit small, but apart from that I was very pleasantly surprised by how well you can get it to run. Happy to share the control setup if anyone's interested.
Hi My pc keep crashing when trying to run this, it was working fine until i upgraded my CPU & GPU, now it does this every time i try to open NOX
I used to play NOX back in the 90's & i think i still have some of the CDs. If I remember correctly, i lost the CD key & one of the 3 disks. Since then, I thought I'd get it through GOG, instead of trying to use the old disks. I'm using Windows 11 & have NOX through GOG. I see the verion from GOG isn't compatible with windows 11 "as is".
Does anyone have any tips or do I need to download anything to get NOX from GOG to work for Windows 11?
Very dope site, maybe the best even, should be added into "Communities" tab. Check it out.
I've just bought Nox from GoG and i'm trying to play using OpenNox mod. But the sound is not playing...i tried starting the game withou the mod but just the initial intro comes with sound...everything is owrking perfect except the sound! i want to finish thisgame cause when i was a kid i couldn't due to lacking english knowledge.
thanks! i'm using windows 10
Talking about this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nox/comments/bkvc0s/nox_in_a_browser_take_2/
I played with it a lot with my friend five years ago.
I'd like to play around with the code. Curious if anyone knows more about its creator u/awesie -- hopefully they are simply in the Discord or something? Would love to see their code snapshot from back then. They must have put a lot of work into it.
Hi everyone
I am replaying Nox once again and while I had no problem beating the game as a Wizard or a Conjurer, the Warrior path became unbearably boring in the Galava castle chapter. I mean, the way I play it is half-skilledly grind with silencing the annoying wizards and then trying to hit them with something, over and over again. This has been less than fun through the first floor, and while I could grind my way thru the rest, I wonder if anybody came up with a better strategy. Experiences and suggestions anybody?
As the title says. I love playing conjurer, it is my favourite class. However recently playing I feel I'm not using his abilities to his full potential. That being the versatility of the bow. It's quite ineffecient to put up inventory, quickly click the arrows I want to use, and then fire.
Is there a way around that, or am I just stuck?
Hey guys,
I am playing some quest and managed to get to stage 25 the other day. When i join a quest map now i can only jump to lv20 tho and its too timeconsuming to replay stage 20-25 just to start working on 26-30..
im playing with noxreloaded but could switch to another install.
i have tried the QuestMapManager but it wont find the game instance (have tried it as administrator alrdy).
Any1 knows how to jump to stage25+ consinstently?
Best,
ion :*
even if this cost 30usd, i would gladly buy this first day on switch. one of the old games i really really love and wanted to play legally on a console.
Hey everyone!! I am so excited to play Nox!! I have come to learn that there are "hidden areas" with in Nox and am wondering how other players find these secrets...? Do you look for some feature on the map, or are hidden areas a different color (like walls, some RPGs that I have played have this feature)? What indication should I look for when playing Nox to find these places? I would assume there are places online that simply list all of the hidden areas, but I would rather not have them spoon-fed to me like that. Any and all help is appreciated!!
Hey everyone!! I was on the Nox Discord page, and reviewed the FAQs, including the downloads for Nox Reloaded and OpenNox. That said, I have a couple questions. First, I see that both Reloaded Nox and the Nox patch downloads end in .exe - after downloading the appropriate files, which .exe file should I click on to ultimately run Nox? I was told that I can download and run both Nox Reloaded and OpenNox, my question here is do I run both by using the Nox Reloaded application? Any and all help is appreciated!!
Hey everyone!!! I am looking to play Nox on my Windows 10 PC, but have not been able to get it to work with my initial download from GOG.com - I am not bashing GOG, but the game is not loading as it should.
Another user told me about the Nox Discord page, and how there are links there to, from what I understand, versions of Nox that are more opted for modern PCs. That said, I heard there are two versions located on Discord. Which of the two would you guys recommend? Is it a straightforward download, or does the game need some tweaks before playing? And is the game all in one download? I ask because I have heard of situations where the game in question needs a few downloads - one for the game, one for maps, one for mods, etc.
I am not trying to make this complicated, I just want to know the overall picture before downloading anything. And I am really careful with downloading anything because in the past I have downloaded mods and such, only for the game to crash and for whatever reason I could not fix the problem or uninstall the game.
Anyway, any and all help on this whole matter is greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!! No rude comments, please.
In other words, is there a moral penalty from looting every building you see? Or is this encouraged to gear up?
Hey everyone!! I am trying to run Nox on my PC, but when the loading process gets to the title screen, it flickers and at that point I can't do anything but close the game. How do I get Nox to run on my PC? I would be happy to provide more information if you need it.
is this possible?
is anyone working on doing a nox remake?
I haven't played this game for years, and finally, after seeing a small review on YT, decided to go through it once more, however, got stuck in a Chapter 3 location. There is an ogre village there, and after a lengthy dungeon, you meet their leader in a longhouse, aught to fight him. And I did, however, the way forward requires sapphire key, and the way into the depths of village is locked behind a mechanism.
I went through every nook of the long house, but cannot find nor the key, neither the mechanism. I've referred to letsplays around, and it seems that the key whether falls from the dead ogre leader (which it never did for me), or is behind the grate in the hut (which it isn't). Couldn't find the mechanism for the gates too, and am quite stuck right now.
I went with the conjurer route, and have the GoG version of the game, which seems to have Quest patch already in, if that helps. And this is the area https://www.gog.com/upload/forum/2024/03/b575500fd53615dc60ab1a41140e49f2370dadba.png
