Hello, due to a cultural observance my family who are SE asian immigrants would like to have a different meal on our US Christmas.
Is there a place in Fairfax that accepts uncooked frozen turkey donations for the holidays?
I can travel by bus or car or can arrange for pick up at my apartment
I think they’re in season, but I went to three different grocery stores this morning and I wasn’t able to find them. Has anybody bought them or seen them in person? I’m in Springfield, but willing to drive.
myself instead of waiting, but the DMV told me I had to wait because there was already a registration in process from the dealership
I will start walking everywhere.
Edit: since people are asking, the dealership is Safford Brown Mazda in Alexandria. Avoid them at all costs, I posted a comment below explaining another issue I had with them. They’re slimy.
Seeking suggestions for places to donate stuffed animals and other gently used toddler toys.
Hi, recently moved to Herndon. Would like to know if there are any decent salon for mens haircut that charge under 20$? Coming from a salon that charged 16$ in Falls Church. TIA.
Moved to NOVA and am looking for a place to rent. I'm thinking Arlington but I heard the crowd is very young early 20s. Tysons was another but they seem to be late 30s. Any places that are lower 30s?
Hi! My bday is in January and per usual, I will be inviting between 10-20 ish friends. What are some unique things to do in Nova for an adult bday? Drinking involved, though no wineries/breweries due to an allergy in the group. I am open to renting a private room/space, though I don’t even know where to start looking since obviously there are hundreds of places to rent a space from in Nova. Last year, we rented a room at a big karaoke bar, and the year before that, I threw a party myself. Where are some super fun and unique places that a group of mid-late twenty year old’s that love to party would have a total blast? Any and all ideas welcome! We live in Herndon/Fairfax areas, but are open to DC, Arlington, Alexandria, and other places in Nova that aren’t too far. TIA! :)
Hi,
as title says, any recommendations for a gym near tysons that offers both muay thai and boxing with plenty of sparring? I am finding a new gym for a schedule change. Preferably a flexible payment plan too(month to month), if not that is ok
thank you for any input!
Hey all! Looking for the best place in NoVA for viewing big houses with exceptionally beautiful Christmas lights displays? Does anyone have any specific suggestions for areas/neighborhoods??
I miss those local music venues that you could show up too, get a ticket for like 10-15 bucks, PBR for 4 bucks and just get your ears torn off. The only place like that I’ve seen is The Pocket but I’m not trying to travel that far. Recommendations?
I don’t have dental insurance and need an extraction, dental implant and crown. I’ve gotten a few estimates (Fairfax/Tysons area) and holy crap, the cost is insane (to me). My general dentist says they do implants at more reasonable prices and even offers a no-insurance discount. Meanwhile a dental products sales friend suggests I stay away from a gen dentist for an implant procedure. At this point I’m just confused - any advice or insights? Any recs for an excellent & reasonably priced implant specialist? Thank you.
My family is coming to town and I wanted to take them to go see Christmas lights. Is there popular streets that we can visit at night to get the Christmas spirits going?
Hi all, wanted to check and see, for anyone who rides metro to work at the EFC Metro Station, when the parking lot typically fills up in the morning? It's been awhile but I used to be able to get there around 815 or 820AM and there was still a number of spots available. Not sure if that is still the case or not. Thanks!
I recently bought a formal dress on a whim with no occasion planned to wear it. I could just go to a fancy restaurant but I got to wondering what kind of events rich and important people go to in this area. There's certainly plenty of money and influence. I have no talent for social climbing but I admit I find the concept a little funny or intriguing. Tell me about your most memorable elbow-rubs! I'm a little more interested in stories than advice.
Hey everyone! Would love some suggestions on 2 bedroom apartments (preferably with lofts or two floors) or townhomes in nova that have dog parks or nice trails. Hopefully around the $2.5k range 🤞🏼
Thanks in advance!
Hi, is there a salon in the area that will put henna dye in my hair? I realize most people do it at home but it’s messy and inconvenient for me. TIA!
DONATING TOYS
Hello everyone! I’m looking for a place to donate gently used toys (not a thrift store or a place where they will be resold) in the nova area.
I would really prefer places where the toys are gifted to kids or a Toys-for-Tots situation.. not where they are donated and then resold to people. Thanks :)
We were driving back from the Gaylord in National Landing (seeing the Ice exhibit) and saw what appeared to be a big black plume of smoke from some building or region in the distance to the north of us as we crossed the Woodrow Wilson bridge.
Any idea what it is?
I am in the process of clearing out my late father’s warehouse. He ran a small handyman company and there is a lot of leftover material from different jobs over the years, including some boxes of siding some of which haven’t been opened.
They are high up on shelving units and I can’t reliably bring them down. So if someone can haul it, it’s theirs. ReStore requires it to be left on a curb but again, I can’t bring them down.
TIA.
Edit: I have pictures I can share if it helps.
A friend in Arlington has passed away and has left me in charge of everything. She just wanted to be cremated with no special service or ceremony. We intend to spread her ashes someplace meaningful, as opposed to storing them. Has anyone used any of the local services, like DFS Memorials or Direct Cremation Services of Virginia? I'd appreciate any recommendations for reputable company.
looking for recs for libraries with comfy seating areas - bonus points for bathrooms with good changing tables!
Hi! I am looking at moving to Arlington in August of this year, preferably Ballston, Clarendon or Courthouse. For context, I will fresh off of graduating from college and working in Tysons. I have two main questions;
Where are the best apartments to live in this area
What are the best ways to go and meet other people
I am a software engineering manager in another tech company , cap one recruiters are sending automated emails to apply Engineering Manager (IC) at Capital One, so it’s Individual Contributor ? Never heard that before…
What’s the equivalent of regular Engineering Manager job in Capital One? A director?
Also how strict is the Hybrid schedule?
