I have a number of suits that I no longer use and would like to donate to someone who is in need of them for their profession. Does anyone know of where is best to donate to have a large impact? Thanks
Hey folks, bit of a longshot but anyone interested in going trailrunning during the day over the next weeks? I work night shifts so I’ve got plenty of opportunity to enjoy the daylight and would love some company on the trails. Running ability is decent, quite comfortable on 20k trails with 1000m elevation. Did my last half marathon at a 4:40 pace. Also interested in knowing about trail running groups. Thanks ☺️
This is more of a rant - My family lives in central lonsdale and we have a couple of young kids. I find it so frustrating that there were almost no kids out trick or treating in the neighborhood last night. I assume this is because so many houses don't seem to participate, but is this a which is first, chicken or egg, situation.
It just makes me so sad that this part of north Vancouver has no sense of community. We love living here and don't have the finances for a 3 mil home in Edgemont or Lynn Valley. The Mayor is so focused on densitifcation, which I understand to fill housing need but i feel like it's making the city much more transient than a community.

Thinking about getting some Ethernet run through my home, and could use some help from a pro that can help fish cabling through some walls and ceilings. Any recommendations would be super appreciated!
I’m preparing for trick or treaters coming to my house and I’m curious- is there a typical time that trick or treaters generally show up at or finish at around north Van? My family estimated that it’d be happening from 5:30 until 8:30. I’m just asking since I had other plans in the evening but I also wanted to give out a bit of candy.
I just stopped by the TD at Pemberton Plaza to withdraw cash from the ATM there, only to be told by the staff that the ATMs are not accessible outside of business hours.
I can only imagine why they have decided to restrict access to that little ATM alcove. I can’t be mad at the bank for removing the service, I just feel sorry for it to have come to this… does anyone have any ideas on what let to the decision ?
[Edit: i got one! Thanks everyone for the help! Leaving thread open for the others that might need pumpkins] Any suggestions on where to buy a pumpkin today? Save-On and Safeway in Lynn Valley are sold out. I'm thinking to try driving out to superstore (anyone go there today and see pumpkins still?)
edit I just checked superstore, then nesters, and Stongs on Dollarton and all are sold out.
Nesters said they should be getting more tomorrow for anyone looking.
edit #2: 9am Oct 31 I managed to snag one at Fresh Street Market in West Van at 9am today. They had about 20 left (plus some white ones) for $5 each. About half were rotten though so be careful!
Thanks everyone for the help!
I haven't seen anything for 2024. Our family used to love attending this event on Grand Boulevard Park around Halloween time, but haven't seen any updates yet for this year unless I missed this? Can someone in the know confirm?
With the recent heavy rainfall, we need to replace the gutters on our home. Is there anyone that has had a good experience with a local company? There are too many fake reviews on Google.
Hey, I was just wondering if we could play basketball at the delbrook gymnasium? I know there are open gym sessions from time to time but if we have a membership are we allowed to use the gymnasium freely anytime?
Dishwasher broke, any of you guys have a recommendation for a good repair guy or someone decent.
Wondering what group activities, clubs and regular scheduled meet ups people are doing in North Van to stay connected to like minded community members? People age 28 - 45 ish age range. What meet ups do you prioritize to stay connected? What’s got a good vibe and a decent price in North Van?
Hi,
I’m looking for recommendations for a pediatric dentist for my three year old and almost 21 month old.
North Shore is ideal but willing to travel for the right fit.
Bonus point for a more holistic/natural/fluoride-free experience though not a dealbreaker right now.
Thanks
I recently moved here from Ottawa.
Currently with Bell mobile network but here in upper Lonsdale (beside Braemar Tennis Courts) there is absolutely no network. My land lady suggested TELUS but I’m not sure. Any suggestions are welcome, thank you!
Also, just wanna add - loving the weather and nature in North Van!
Found around Lonsdale and 5th.
If you think it’s yours, send me a dm with a description and let’s get it back to you.
Hi Everybody!
I'm a North Shore family man looking for work and mentorship in either of these 2 trades with a North Shore local business operator.
I have 1.5 years part-time experience running cable in residential and commercial environments (approx. 1250hrs). I've mounted many TV's, in-ceiling/outdoor speakers, data racks and cameras, terminations and clean-up. I've also worked a little with Control4, RTI software and equipment.
I have a good amount of tools but unfortunately my family is down to 1 vehicle at the moment.
I feel that posting your business name may be against the community rules and I'm not active on social media, please DM me if you're interested in grabbing a coffee to discuss!
Thanks for your time, sorry mods if this post is inappropriate.
New to Canada and just moved out car from Seattle to BC. Finished the car inspection from Canadian Tire yesterday. The next thing is car registration and get insurance in BC
Where do you recommend for insurance? (Or tips on where not to go are welcome too)
Hey everyone! 👋
I wanted to share something I’ve been working on with a few classmates at SFU—Gear2Peer. It’s a peer-to-peer rental marketplace where people can rent and lend outdoor gear within their own communities. It came from a pretty familiar problem: outdoor equipment is expensive, and for anyone who wants to try new activities (skiing, climbing, kayaking, backpacking, etc.), the cost of gear alone is a huge barrier.
On the other hand, many of us have that “collection” of gear piling up in our closets—stuff we don’t use enough but aren’t ready to part with. Gear2Peer connects people who need gear with people who have it to share, helping lower costs for renters and earning some extra $$ for lenders.
Some key benefits we’re aiming for:
If you’re into outdoor activities or have gear you could rent out, I’d love for you to check out Gear2Peer.ca and let me know what you think. Constructive feedback and thoughts on what features would be most useful are super welcome!
Also, if you’ve got ideas on how to get the word out, I’m all ears. Thanks so much for reading! 😊
I'd really love to start a bookclub with women on the shore if anyone would be interested. I love hosting so I can do all of that and the organizing, especially since it's getting colder out having cozy book discussions and more of a reason to finish my books would be great. I think it would also be a great way to meet other ladies. If anyone is interested let me know. :)
Wow so many responses, amazing!!! Please dm me for more info, I will try to start a group and get things going. Have a great day!
Looking for water cress for a recipe! Has anyone seen it lately in any stores?
Hello,
I have a small start up, which has done about 165K revenue and I’m looking for a business group to join. I am a 21-year-old female. It seems like all the ones I can find have a much higher revenue cap so I can’t get in. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Hello,
I really want to become good at sales and gain that grit that I know a lot of door-to-door sales people have. I don’t so much care about money. I just wanna learn the skill. Does anyone have any past or present bosses/companies they recommend? I have no other sales experience other than a retail job (I’m not sure if this counts though).
Wondering if powers been restored yet??? The latest update on the BC hydro outage map was at 3:01PM.
