Is there a system whereby donations can earn you credit which can be applied to a purchase?

I'm scoping out a project and the client would like a system similar to reddit coins. However, this system would work when a user makes a donation they receive credit, like reddit gold, that can be applied to future purchases within the donation system. For instance, if they would like to apply their credit to enter a drawing for a prize.

Funding A 501(c)4?

It is a lobbying and development firm - but maintains the highest ethical standards, and makes lobbying services accessible to those who need it yet cannot afford it. I dont want to charge my clients, or at least slash as much of a cost for them as possible. Any ideas?

Helping a non-profit raise funds for an interactive chat to identify cardiovascular diseases

Hi Redditors,

For the past few days, I worked on a webpage (without any experiencing building a page) for a charity called Heart to Handle. This charity is currently raising funds to support research regarding an interactive chatbot that is able to identify cardiovascular diseases.

The algorithm supporting the chatbot will go through questions and based on the answers given it is able to determine whether the user has symptoms corresponding to an early or late stage of cardiovascular disease.

To show my support I created a webpage with a little bit of storytelling to level with the reader. You can read more about this charity and their initiative at https://globalowls.com/hearttohandle.html

I could use some feedback regarding my first build charity page!

Help The World’s Voiceless

Influencing one’s Congressional leaders is the most effective way to make a difference in this country. Members of Congress are responsible for voicing their constituent’s opinions and implementing legislation based on their views. Therefore, a citizen’s most important job is to remain educated on what may become possible law in the near future. With that said, there are two important bills I would like to highlight: the International Affairs Budget & the Global Fragility Act.

The International Affairs Budget supports critical development and diplomacy programs around the world - all while using less than 1 percent of the federal budget. The International Affairs Budget is an investment that provides emergency response after natural disasters, implements agriculture programs to promote stability in impoverished areas and much more. It also benefits the US economy by creating consumers and opening new markets to American businesses and consumers.

The Global Fragility Act, if passed, would focus US development and security efforts on preventing violence and instability in needing countries. These environments breed terrorism, criminal activity, and corruption not only where they take place but, ultimately, on homeland. This bill would focus these efforts on the 68 million people being forcibly displaced around the world in addition to the 134 million people that are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

So what can we do to help? Get to know your Congressional leaders. Give them a call. Shoot them an email. Such a small act can make a difference in the lives of millions.

Code for America volunteering events Sept. 21 all over USA

Code for America believes government must work for the people, and by the people, in the digital age, starting with the people who need it most.

We build digital services that enhance government capabilities, and we help others do the same across all levels of government. We organize thousands of volunteers across more than 80 chapters nationwide who improve government in their local communities. Our goal: a 21st century government that effectively and equitably serves all Americans.

The 7th Annual National Day of Civic Hacking, September 21, 2019, will bring together civic leaders, public servants, designers, coders, and engaged citizens to partner with local government and community groups for a day of collective action to help those impacted by the criminal justice system, particularly in the area of record clearance. Have other pressing issues in your community that you’d like to work on? You’re welcome to join us too!

National Day coincides with National Expungement Week, an effort led by community-based organizations across the country to help people begin the process of clearing their criminal records. This is a great opportunity to work with partners who are already doing this important work and lift up their voices in our communities, while being part of an effort to transform the record clearance landscape by expanding, streamlining, and automating the process.

The Brigade Network is leading the way with three actions that you can take for National Day of Civic Hacking:

  • Map out the record clearance experience and process: Journey mapping is a method used to look at a person's experience or journey, often in a specific context, and find various touchpoints in this person's experience that are meaningful. On National Day, groups can map what the process of applying for record clearance looks like for an individual in their location, looking for information that will help us better understand the experience of one applying for record clearance.
  • Develop a Services Usability Scorecard: For this action, you’ll conduct user research to find out how various people experience a certain service when going through the record clearance process. For your research, start with a standard set of five questions and ask justice impacted people about using a service in real time.
  • Create a user-friendly Know Your Rights website: While we are all entitled to certain rights, particularly when encountering the criminal justice system and record clearance process, many times we don’t know what they are. Easy access to this information that is readily available and user-friendly is a need across the country. For National Day, groups can build a site that transforms public information into user-friendly content that effectively informs people of their rights.

At its roots, National Day of Civic Hacking is about making our communities better. We’re honing in on record clearance this year, but all events are welcome under our umbrella!

Find an event near you and volunteer.

Spead the word and learn about National Expungement Week.

To support this work, Code for America is kicking off a campaign from now until September 30 to raise the funds to sustain the work of this incredible volunteer network all year long.

Ocean Cleanup project

Can this community provides us with advice on: 1.Requesting Donation and Grants, 2.strategy for an Ocean Cleanup nonprofit, 3.influencing local policy makers and a possible Crowdfunding campaign. We are all facing a ubiquitous plastic & pollution problem in our waterways. Just like every coastal city in America. To tackle this we have to start now.

We are in Florida, where there are more than 1 million recreational boats, the greatest amount than any state. Marinas are the frontline of ocean trash. The solution is a passive trash skimmer.

Shouldn't this be mandatory ?
Well, it’s NOT !!!

The trash skimmer will collect trash, plastics, micro plastics, oil slicks, fuel, While at the same time aerating the brackish water.

This is where the community comes in, we are a nonprofit organization and need advice to start funding and installing these units in as many marinas as possible.

Our purpose is to clean the ocean, educate and create awareness. We have been organizing and participating in cleanups and we need to make our community demand solutions.

Thank You in advance!

ideas for even nonprofit projects to offer/recruit for

I've posted about the Nonprofit PRojects group on the Subreddit that talks about volunteering (recruitment, management, ethics, etc.) https://www.reddit.com/r/volunteer/ so more folks know about it.

Just wanted to say that, in addition to projects like whipping up a quick web site or designing a flyer or poster or logo, other short-term virtual volunteering / remote volunteering ideas for nonprofits that nonprofits can recruit for (and volunteers can offer services for) include:

  • evaluating the accessibility of a current web site and offering suggestions for improvement
  • evaluating an app developed for the nonprofit
  • evaluating an app the nonprofit might consider using to work with its volunteers, work with clients, etc.
  • evaluating a press release before it gets sent out
  • evaluating a funding proposal and offering advice for improvement (if you are about to send a proposal, or had a proposal rejected, this can really be helpful)
  • transcribing/captioning a video
  • transcribing a podcast
  • tagging photos with appropriate keywords
  • transcribing scanned documents

How do i start a non profit

Can anyone help lead me in the right direction of where to start?! I've been interested in starting a non profit organization for Addiction.

I am looking to help fund the rehabilitation placement for addicts of narcotics and opiates. I strongly believe in my mission and would like to help families like mine who are unable to find a financing option that fits their budget.

I am trying to supply Grant's to low income families, trying to save their loved one.

There is hope.

[Request] Audacious idea about reforming government structure, looking for networking/anyone interested in helping the project!

Hi! I’m in the process of designing a non-profit called the “A More Perfect Union Project (AMP UP!)” with a goal of redesigning what an American Constitution that followed best practices in designing a system of government would look like.

Things like Gerrymandering, the Electoral College, First-Past-the-Post Voting and Majoritarian representation with strong civil rights would be among the focuses.

I also have a briefly outlined strategy for how to go about implementing (past mere advocacy) this “best” form of government once it is designed.

I have the idea and strategy, I need people that would be interested and involved and could help put these wheels into motion. If this sounds like something up your alley, please contact me and lets do this!

Edit: I’m in MD right next to Washington, DC.

[REQUEST] Need a flyer/handout to educate MS residents about a Civil Forfeiture Bill working it's way to the Governor.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/nicksibilla/2019/01/29/mississippi-bill-would-let-cops-forfeit-cash-and-cars-without-the-owner-going-to-court/#1fc94ff39a87

A story by Forbes describing the Bill.

A bill introduced last week would revive “administrative” forfeiture in Mississippi, a form of civil forfeiture that has even fewer safeguards for innocent property owners. If enacted, property seized under the state’s Uniform Controlled Substances Law and valued at under $20,000 could be permanently confiscated without Mississippians ever getting their day in court.

I would like to create something to inform ppl about this bill and some of the statistics of MS forfeitures.

The Governor has already said he would sign if got to him. https://twitter.com/MSPoliceChiefs/status/1088448170084904962

It would be great to work with someone that can help me put together an informational handout/flyer.

Thanks,

Mike
