Fantagraphics is having their FantaBucks Sale Mar 22-24: https://blog.fantagraphics.com/the-fantabucks-sale-2024/
Are there any must read or great recommendations to pick up during this time?
Thank you!
I was never a big fan of the series and the comics but really liking the reprint from Super Genius. Sadly, they only produced 2 issues so I am assuming that not many people enjoyed the new stories!

Full of beautiful art telling a story of survival and horror, Thistle Issue One is for fans of indie comics, fantasy stories, and survival horror comic books. There are reward tiers for every budget, a stunning variant cover by Heather Vaughan, and digital and physical comic options.
I only recently got into comics and while I don‘t hate them, superhero comics are not for me. The last three graphic novels I read were „On a sunbeam“, „Why don’t you listen“ and „Spinning“ and I loved each of them, especially the last one. Can you recommend something similar, melancholic tone, simplicistic drawings, good story. I have also read and liked e.g. „Fun Home“, „Blue is the warmest colour“, „Saga“ or „Monstress“. Thanks!
Hello r/noDCnoMarvel, I'll be traveling to Madrid soon and was hoping to find some good comic book shops, especially those that carry local artists and alt/indie comics from Spain. Any suggestions?
I read first storyline Popeye The Sailor appeared in, and well.. It was pretty bad! I imagine it'd be an enjoyable enough still if somebody went in and chopped out the fat, but the pacing spins it's wheels and repeats the same plot beats and jokes so many times that it's enough to make ya sick.
Meanwhile, I checked out the early Popeye Sundays, and they too repeat themselves a bit, but they were much better. I guess Segar was better with the extra space, because those manage to be far more entertaining.
I was wondering, do the dailies ever get good? Does the pacing and plot structure improve? If so, when?
Valérian & Laureline by Jean-Claude Mézières and Pierre Christin.
Nice recording of Daniel Clowes and Dana Gould discussing this and that at Skylight Books in L.A. in 2010. In attendance: Johnny Ryan, ex-Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson and Joe Matt, may he rest in peace…
