Just got an announcement from one my graduate professors explaining the apparent use of AI in our recent assignment by students in the class, which only asked us to analyze some code errors and answer—what I would assume—basic questions on them. This forces them to go through all of our assignments with a fine-tooth comb and possibly change most if not all of our grades drastically because some people don’t make time to do the homework themselves, or only use AI as some second brain and not as an assistant. At the worst case, if you can’t complete the assignment, turn it in anyway, and/or have a conversation with your professors to maybe get an extension, or take the L and move on!
In a graduate course, I would expect better, or at least a few people using AI in that way. Guess I was wrong… I get AI is useful, but c’mon, you’re cheating yourself and your career by not learning at least 75-80% of the stuff yourself imo, or asking for help if you don’t understand something at a deeper level.
Not posting this as some “holier than thou” moment, but I don’t want to have to be overly performative in submitting assignments to show professors that I’m using my own work. AI-reliant submissions ruin it for everyone else.
So i am taking IT490 with professor Kheo right now and i am going to fail probably. Definitely. So i was wondering for anyone who is taking 490 with professor patel how is he like.
does anyone know of any available research opportunities that I can help with or assist with that is involved in IT? or any part time job opportunities within the same field?
I was looking for ways to further immerse myself in that field and be able to have that reflected on my resume that wasn't just extracurriculars, and also, I genuinely want to learn about it (obviously).
Im trying to find a 300 humanity somewhat related to my ME degree, most of the ones Im interested in weren't offered such as Technical Writing for Scientific Papers. If If there arent any humanities available that match any recommendations on easy classes and professors would be appreciated. Im not interested in a difficult class unrelated to my degree.
so it appears my scores in Math 107 have gotten worse!!! I’ve been doing everything to prepare but i blank on every quiz and exam. I just got my second quiz back and i got a 7.5 out of 15…. my other scores have been just as bad. Does tutoring actually help because i AT LEAST want to pass this class. How does the tutoring process work like how do i begin. Is it free like
I've been skipping recitation the whole semester and I just read a policy saying that it's required for attendance, though i remember it not being required last year. I never received an email telling me to withdraw, am I fine?
Has anyone taken CS444 with Chase Wu? How was it?
Hello I saw online that some people were able to register for classes at essex during the normal semester however I asked my advisor and she said no does anyone know if it is still possible?
Hey, I'm a first year Comp Sci major and I'm interested in taking some cybersecurity courses which I know are IT courses. Is there a specific track to take these cybersecurity courses and get a minor in IT as well? I was looking at the typical IT Minor course list and it doesn't contain many of the in depth security courses.
So... I kinda screwed up on the CS 100 exams. I have a 98 all the classwork besides the exams, and got a 70.5 and 64 for the two commons. I studied a lot before but the tricky wording got me I guess. I'm gonna study my ass off for the final exam so I can get the highest grade I can, at most a B+ (unfortunate luck since this is supposed to be an easy A class), so I wanted to know if the roadmap project was easy to get a 100 on. Let me know please
So I have an outstanding balance of 10k and some change for njit I haven't been able to get my fasfa approved for certain reasons but it's all getting cleared up. I have a an hold on my account because of the outstanding balance. If I pay the balance out right and once my fasfa clears(I'm low income) would I be able to get most of my payment back in the refund or how does that work?
So for context I posted here a while ago that I didn’t do well on my math107 common. Didn’t really study much, and I have test anxiety which just made things worse. 100% my fault I got a 25%. After doing so badly I started taking things more seriously and did really well on my exams for my other classes. I’m doing really well in my other classes, CS, MET, etc. I’m a software and data engineering tech major and I really want to switch to CS.
I met with my academic advisor and she told I have to schedule a meeting with a YWCC advisor for that, which I just did. But she said I have to talk to the fin aid office if I’m thinking about withdrawing from the class. I’m at 14 credits rn (I think) and withdrawing from that class would put me at 11 credits. I get financial aid and I’m really worried about losing that and the scholarships. I tried to go on navigate to schedule a meeting with the fin aid office and there’s no available times before or after the withdraw date?
I don’t know what I should do, and I’m not even sure if they’ll let me switch my major. If I just take the F or D for the math107 could I just retake it next semester? I saw that CS majors need to take math 110 as a pre req for calc but if I retake 107 would that even count towards that? (Idek if that makes sense) I’m just so lost, and my meeting with the YWCC advisor is the 7th, a few days before the last day to withdraw from a class.
Any advice would be appreciated, I’m just really panicking rn😓
Is there some software that us njit students can use to see when classrooms have a scheduled class in the room? I want to use the board to work on and so far every class I see and start using, 20 minutes later a professor comes in for a class. So how do I know what classes won’t have a class?
Im taking IS375 IT490 and IS392 for spring 2025 and all i require would be general electives. Any advice on which electives to take ? Fall 2025 would be when i take my capstone and fill up with more general electives
Does anyone know y the guy was trying to jump off the NJIT build?
Fuck you to whoever picked up my Pizza Hut order at campus center rn, hope you rot in hell. Before anyone asks why did they deliver, they weren’t supposed to the delivery driver doesn’t know how to read either.
For the Scientific Literacy GER, what's an easy science elective? I'm deciding between Matthew Cooper or Libarid Maljian for PHYS 202 OR George Georgiou or Libarid Maljian for PHYS 203.
Which course is easier? Easy to understand, doesn't require much time involvement during the week, etc. PHYS 202 is more about the origin, evolution, and structure of the solar system, stars, galaxies, and the universe. PHYS 203 is more about fundamental phenomena, the interaction between the Earth's four major reservoirs, the dependence of the Earth on the Sun, and the effect of the Moon on the Earth.
Does the lab also have to be taken alongside the lecture class, like it was for PHYS 111 and PHYS 112?
For the CS/IS/IT Elective (200/300/400-level), I'm deciding between IT 266 (with Professor Kehoe online or face-to-face) OR IT 270 with Professor Kehoe online. I do not have much experience in coding. I have only taken two CS courses here: CS 100 and CS 113. For the elective, which course is also easier and not that time-consuming? What would be a good elective that helps form skills for the current job market?
Why is it that NJIT cancells at the last minute the class you need to graduate for Spring 2025? I am really out of words honestly speaking. If it were an elective, I wouldn’t mind because I can easily replace it, but a class that is part of the curriculum? Come on now!!!!!!

Has anyone took IT 340 w him and how is it like?
Hey, I was making my schedule for next semester, and I need to choose classes. I didn't know what the most important math for CS majors past Linear Algebra. I already took math 333(Stats) and math 337(Linear Algebra) and will probably take math 222(Diff EQ) next semester. Past that I have no idea which classes to take.
Trying to figure out my grade on the 17% for homework/quizzes since I didn't have great results on Common 1 or 2. There is still that and 49% left of the grade for Common 3 and final but feeling defeated after all of the work I put into Common 2 with the result of 56 (not much better on Common 1). I haven't done great on a lot of quizzes but always do homework. Did you keep track of it yourself or can I find it somewhere? My prof doesn't record anything in Canvas this semester so I don't even know how my grade compares to others (or if that even matters). Last year I could see my grades and the class range in Canvas. Deciding if I should drop. I guess I should go see the professor. Yes, I've done tutoring...and I'm hoping to not have a summer course due to other plans but would need a C which doesn't look like is happening.
The alumni email accounts have apparently been "reclaimed" by NJIT as of July, and are no longer accessible. When I contacted the help desk, the guy said there's nothing he could do to allow a user to download their data from the email server at this point. What gives.. is there a possibility talking to a supervisor or somehow contacting Google would allow me to download the data?
I've been hearing mixed things about the fire marshall room checks for dorms. Is there a warning posted before they come check or is it completely at random? I was told by my RA that my USB led lights are fine with him, but the fire marshall may have an issue with it so I just wanna know in advance.
Ok so just like a lot of people on here I didn’t do well on my math 112 exam 2. I got a 42 (ouch I know) but on the first one I got a 58 not much better but take what you can get. So I’ve already come to the decision to change my major from B.S in biology to B.A meaning that this would be a technical elective for me and not a necessary class anymore. With both exams I have a 57 in the class. If I’m correct, to pass this class I would need a D (At least a 60) since this would be a elective for me but I’m not 100% sure if that’s right. That being said, I have no idea if I should drop the class and be way more behind in my credits or stick it out since so many people say that the second exam is the hardest? I’m also lowkey hoping for a bigger curve since my class averaged a 62 on this exam. I have friends telling me to stick it out and that I can easily get my grade up but I don’t know. Help please.
