I write a lot. So I'll put it in two parts. Paragraph 1: Why? + Rant. Paragraph 2: Gun questions.

I live in Philadelphia, work in Pennsauken as a Diesel Mechanic for a major LTL. I'm currently working towards moving to either the Alabama or Mississippi coast. It's a big move. I don't know anyone down there. I currently have my Class A CDL (Auto Restricted, no endorsements), 7 years experience working on Utility trailers and doing shuttle jobs for the last company, and now 1 year experience working on tractors, which isn't much. The most cost effective thing to do in todays economy is stay here in Philly with my cheap rent and keep going on building up my credentials. Here's the problem. In less than a month, someone did a hit and run on my parked car and thankfully only destroyed the fender and the door. Last night someone smashed my window and ran through my car. I never leave my wallet in my car, but this particular night idk what happened, I forgot it was in the center console. They got it and I've spent the last 2 days on the phone with credit card companies disputing charges, cancelling cards, etc etc. What the fuck is gonna happen next? And this isn't an isolated incident here. There are multiple smash and grabs happening all over the city every single day and this isn't a good way to live. This is fucking bullshit! Then I make a post about it on r/philadelphia and get downvoted to hell because I guess it's my fault that these little punks busted my window and the city won't do anything about it. I am from NJ and moved to Philly in 2019 for PA gun laws. Now I want out, but everything is expensive and I don't wanna pay more than 900 a month because I'm saving money to go to Mobile/Jackson/Harrison/Hancock County and succeed. I am currently working towards getting the auto restriction taken off my license, working towards getting all my endorsements including my TWIC Card, which I'm waiting for Expungement to finalize with NJSP before I apply for that. I'm also working towards being more confident with the tractors before I leave. In addition, I want to quit this job and get a driving job before I move to determine if I'm going to commit to a mechanic job or a driving job before I go and commit the rest of my life to the Gulf Coast. I want all my credentials before I go. That said, the only cheap rent is in Philly, a major commute from Delaware County which can be hit or miss (I'm not moving to Upper Darby, that's just as bad), aaaaaaand, drumroll, the occasional deal in Oaklyn and Palmyra. So if I'm thinking, maybe it would be cost effective to move to NJ for a years lease to A. Maintain my short commute, B. Not have to pay tolls anymore, and C. It's where all my friends and family live anyway. I know the neighborhoods in Camden and Burlco much better than in PA. I could just put the non compliant guns and mags in storage for a year, and when I have every piece of paperwork and experience to give me the confidence to pick up and bid thee adieu, I can just pick em up and bring them with me.

Okay, so half of you didn't read all that. Please read this. Of my collection, the Zpap, the M70 Underfolder, the P80, and the AR are not compliant. The Ruger, the SKS's, and the M48 are. All my pistols are compliant, none of the mags are (aside from the Tokarev). Are the following Rifles Compliant?

VZ52. For those that don't know, it's kinda sorta like an SKS, but it's not. Has a permanently attached folding bayonet and a detachable 10 round magazine. However it's a wood rifle with no pistol grip and the barrel is not threaded and has no flash hider/muzzle break. Does this one pass the Murphy test? You know what, I might just put it in storage anyway because I can't even find reasonable ammo for it. Why TF did I buy it?

Maverick 88 security model: It's a shotgun. You all know what it is. I don't think it's non compliant, but I just want to double check, is the 7 round tube good to go?

FID Card: Is it even worth getting it if I'm only planning on being here a year? Can I get it with a misdemeanor criminal record that is stuck in the NJSP Expungement backlog? I don't plan on buying any guns while I'm there, all my money is going towards Creds and Moving plans. Do I need an FID card to take the guns to the range or can I just carry them in the trunk the same way I'd do in Pennsylvania? Which is in a secure case in the trunk seperated from the ammo, only to be driven straight from residence to the range, and straight back.

Should I just leave ALL the guns in storage and just go pick them up when I feel like having a range trip? I would like to at least have my shotgun and a pistol at my apartment.

I think that's all I want to ask/say. JFC, I really don't STFU when I'm on a keyboard.

I purchased two handguns with permits obviously 4 and 6 months ago. I downloaded the confirmation and saved the document.

Today I purchased a new handgun and did the same but when I put the document in the file I had dedicated to permits etc, I couldn’t find the confirmation for the first two. Searched on all my devices and impossible to find. Not sure what happened here.

How bad is it to not have the confirmation of each permit while I transport or maybe want to sell a handgun in the future? Any way to get the document again?

I know I should have printed it but don’t have a printer at home and didn’t want to do it at work so I thought having it saved on my computer and phone would be enough.

Building my first AR, pinning the stock seems like the easiest compliance work I can do myself, but I have not seen an example of this task done well.

The videos on YouTube I see are just people removing the pins.

Is there a good write up somewhere, or video about how to do it correctly?

I wonder how it works with voluntary for substance abuse as a juvenile, 30 plus years ago. There are no records other than county adjuster stating voluntary commitment, not what for. So i just got my PTC and i’ve looked in this group and googled laws and cannot find a straight answer.

if im going to the store and have my gun on me and i decided i want to stop at a restaurant that serves alcohol.. can i remove my pistol from my waist and put it into a locked container under the back seat of my truck, unloaded and in a fingerprint case.

i know you can’t have any firearms at all on federal property but if it’s unloaded and locked under my back seat is that okay?

My cousin recently passed. He had two handguns. He had no will, and his family is giving them to me as they live out of state. I recently obtained 2 handgun purchase permits in June, but never got a chance to use them. They were extended until 12/22/24 automatically. Any idea what steps I need to take to properly take ownership of these firearms.

I do have my FID, and 2 valid handgun permits. His family in NJ do not have FID, and his parents who I’m assuming are next of kin live in Florida. Willing to provide any further info as requested.

Edit: sorry I could have clarified, my cousin who passed was a nj resident. His family is in FL.

My first name is longer than the dmv allows on drivers licenses. I put the name exactly as it appeared on my license for my FPID, because they requested it as it appears on my legal document. When I bought my first handgun, they put the NICS through with the shortened name. Just recently bought another gun (not a pistol) and they put the NICS through with my full legal name because the shortened wasn’t working. I’m about to apply for another pistol permit but was wondering if I should do a name change to my full legal name? And does anybody know what department to contact on the state website for questions like this? Thanks

I know this is a tricky subject over the years but with all the laws always switching is it possible to put a brace on a 14” shockwave? Does the 26” OAL apply to this and if it’s treated like an other would you put a vertical grip on it?

I don't really need another firearm but have a permit expiring soon, so I thought I'd get something inexpensive and not have my $25 go to waste... I get it, girl math, lol. For specific reasons, here are my parameters:

1. Under $300

2. Striker-fired

3. Larger than my p365 but smaller than my Echelon, so overall length in the 6.25" - 7.00" range, something reasonably concealable if I feel like it.

4. Manual Safety

5. Prefer optic ready, but not a huge deal

6. 9mm

I've kind of landed on the Taurus G3c TORO (optic ready) which I can get for $289 although I wish it were just a tad bigger. I was looking at the new XD9 mod 3 but it's the same size as my XD-45. The G3 is also sized like the XD-45 and also close in size to my echelon. I like the GX4 size-wise, and in fact it'd be perfect, but for my own reasons I require the manual safety for something I might carry, and that is not available on the GX4. I also have fun .22s and a .357.

Are there any guns that meet the parameters above that I am missing? I'm about to pull the trigger on the G3c but thought I'd throw this out there. Seems like there are not a lot of "medium-sized" 9mms out there.

I will turn 21 in 8 days. I live in South river so the paperwork usually takes forever. Is there any way to fill out the pistol permit papers before I'm 21 or do I need to wait the week until my birthday. Either way I wouldn't get them until after but it's NJ so nothing really makes sense anyway. Pistol is already ordered to an FFL so all I need at this point is to wait for it to show up and get a purchase permit. Any idea if the 8 day wait until my 21 is needed?
