Newark Conceal Carry Permit Delays?

Just called Newark PD in regards to my conceal carry permit, which was submitted, paid for, and references done as soon as it was submitted in the middle of August. They told me back then that it would be a 3 month process until I should receive notice on it.

It's been a little over 3 months and they tell me today that in reality it takes 6 months due to the volume of applications they have and are working as fast as they can.

It's a little ridiculous that I have to wait so long for my permit, and time frame double?!?!?! Infuriating.

Is anyone else having this happen to them?

How difficult is it to adjust a pinned stock?

Being my first AR, I just went with what the shop worker recommended. I’m starting to feel like I would like it more collapsed and unsure if it’s even worth it. I’d love to try out a few different notches for more than a couple seconds in the shop to be sure that’s where I want the stock, so I’m hesitant to bring it back to a gunsmith.

Is this something I can do at home? Should I bring it back to the gunsmith to repin? It looks like a roll pin through the plastic into the buffer tube on one side, not in an easy place to get to.

If I’m able to do it at home, I would of course take the stock off before doing the work to ensure the firearm isn’t non-compliant. Curious if anyone else has done this.

CCW renewal , is everyone listing their own guns on the form after requalifying?

So I requalified today using one gun that is listed on the form. Is everyone adding more to the sheet before submitting or just submitting the form with one or two guns since the new laws lets you carry anything you own supposedly . Any help would be deeply appreciated .

Thoughts about SHTF Ammo to purchase.

What would you all say is a reasonable 5.56 ammo type for an AR-15 to have. We have a little discounting going on for the holiday but I certainly wouldn't be stocking up on Federal Law Enforcement or Black Hills.....so what say you all? If it matters, I'm running a 14.5 with a BCM Comp.

NJ Non Resident CCW application Process.

Hello just wanted to confirm that you should take the NJCCW course prior to applying for the permit. If that is the case how long do you have to apply before the CCW certificate expires? Thanks for your help.

Thinking of buying a S&W Bodyguard 2.0

I have a purchase permit that should be ready to pick up soon and was thinking of buying the S&W Bodyguard 2.0 as an EDC. I have a Ruger LCP that I like to carry in my pocket (with an approved holster, of course), but that gun has a history of failure to feed issues, so I'd like to replace it. Anyone have the S&W? Thoughts?

Langdon Tactical - shipping back to NJ

Has anyone here shipped a pistol to Langdon Tactical for work and if so will they ship back to your home or do they require an FFL? Some dealers / mfgs will return your pistol to your home and others require an FFL transfer. Has anyone shipped to them?

Thanks!

Any Update on Koons v. Platkin?

Has there been any update on this case? I remember thinking last year we might get a decision before Christmas, how naive I was. Feels like it has been put on the back burner.

CCW frustration -- where can you even go? I can't seem to find a straightforward answer. What do you guys do?

Feels like 99% of locations would be against the law to carry.

Is it illegal to carry at all private locations unless they say it is permitted?

Can I even carry it at a mall?

NJ sucks.

APEX 90gr vs 118gr non-expanding ammo test

Got some Apex non-expanding defense ammo since Targetsports is running a deal on it and it’s NJ-friendly, and shot it thru my P365 (while bench-rested to keep the shots consistent). Here is a side by side of 90gr vs 118gr. The 90gr performed much better than the 118gr in this test and seems better at longer distances minus a couple fliers. 90gr seems to be reasonably reliable within self-defense distances. Keep in mind 90gr has significant muzzle flash whereas 118gr does not so there is a tradeoff there if that matters to you. I did not experience any failures to fire/cycle with either grain. I’m not recommending for/against this ammo I’m just providing some performance data for anyone thinking about grabbing some, maybe this will help you decide.

"Gun Industry members" - Insanity

My go-to FFL is now requiring FID and DL to buy ANYTHING in the store, including targets, optics, foregrip.... ANYTHING, because they are "gun-related products." This is because of our AG's latest actions.

Renting at Shore Shot with an FID single person

Can you rent as a solo shooter with an FID at shore shot?

Their site says they only rent to parties of two or more. Other ranges say the same unless you have an FID and also have your own firearms and ammo. Tried to ask shore shot if that's an exception for them as well but they have an automated person on phone or whatever you call it.

They have a nice selection of rentals but I'll never go if I can't rent. If I'm shooting with family and friends, we just go to Philly instead of a jersey range.

Black Friday Holster Recs?? G19 & Echelon

Need a new holster for my Glock 19 and my Echelon? Any recommendations?

Was looking at Tier 1, LAS Concealment, and Trex as it looks like their sales are the best.

Edit: Sorry forgot to add that it’s for AIWB/IWB carry.

Registering in NJ, looking to get license or permit.

About 10 years ago I had a situation where I had overdosed and chose to go to treatment. In order for that I went for evaluation at hospital for 3 days before leaving to recovery. Will that be on my mental health record preventing me from getting any type of license or permit? Never had anything on my record not even a ticket.
