Greetings, Redditors! I (your devoted mod) got a notification today that we now have 100 members and I see that it's grown to 101 this morning. Hooray!
I volunteered to be the mod in the hope that this sub could become a sort of rational alternative to NextDoor (which I don't belong to but hear about occasionally). Please feel free to post (rather than just lurk) in the sub to air your concerns, interests, ideas, or information. Thanks!
Best breakfast place in town?
My husband and I are considering buying a house in Niwot. We are in our early 50s and looking for a warm and friendly community. Is this the right place?
This happened years ago, sometime between 2015-2019, but with all the recent events in congress I’ve been reminded of it and am wondering if it stirred anyone else’s memory of this event.
I was driving on the diagonal (westbound) to work and was just about to pass niwot on my left, so this would have been around 8:30-8:45am or so. The trees in the central strip between the westbound and eastbound lanes were blocking my view to the south up until that point. As soon as I cleared the trees, I see to my left a huge (maybe 6’ diameter and 30-40’ tall) “tube shaped” cylindrical object hovering over the railroad tracks west of the city of niwot sign. It was completely black, smooth texture, and had a slight bend toward the top like a drinking straw. It was also hovering about 15 ft off the ground with no visible supports and there were no structures around to keep it upright as it was taller than any of its surroundings.
My best guess was that it was a helium balloon like you see in parades, but why would it be hovering over the tracks away from any buildings? It also didn’t move at all, just stayed completely still hovering for as long as I could see while I drove past.
The strangest part was that no one else on the road reacted to it, and in that moment even I just thought to myself “huh, wonder what that is” and continued on my way, so I didn’t even consider how strange it was until I got to work. I’m the type to be quick to my phone and I don’t know if it was the shock of the moment or persuasion by some external factor, but I was completely unphased in the moment.
I am hoping someone else remembers this event and can provide a rational explanation or corroborate what I saw. Since it happened during the morning commute rush hour I’m almost positive someone else would have seen it.
Hello everyone, you may have heard rumors of a bear going around Niwot. Last night the black bear was spotted in my neighbor's yard. I have the photo attached to this post. I was just letting everyone know, as far as I know, the bear has not been contained and is still loose. Be careful with your pets, don't leave them unattended outside, lock your car doors, don't leave food out, etc. Be wary, bears can be more clever than you think. For those who see this, have a wonderful day and stay safe.
Just curious: biggest hail at your place and what does damage look like? Here (the flatland condos) there is no damage to cars and the biggest stones were about quarter-sized. Plants and trees took a hit. The hail lasted about 10 minutes, 10:30ish.
Does anyone know why the brand new NHS turf field is only being used for 1 varsity football home game (as opposed to all home games)?

Hi there,
My wife and I are in our mid 30’s with a 2 year old and a baby at home. We currently live in downtown Denver but are exploring areas outside of the city to raise our growing family.
I’d love to hear the pros/cons of living in Niwot and how you all like the area.
Are there a good amount of young families in the area? Would we feel out of place given our demographic?
From what I can tell it seems like a pretty idyllic place to live: quaint small town, festivals/events, close to nature & Boulder.
I would love to hear about your experience living in the area! Feel free to share the good, bad, and the ugly.
Thank you!
Hello r/Niwot! I am going to be visiting a friend in Niwot at the end of this month and no absolutely nothing about your town. Since I'll be there for a few days, I was hoping to hear from some locals and hear about your favorite parts of the city (favorite places to eat, favorite places to shop, to hike, etc.)I really enjoy eating food, dogs, and hiking. I want to make the most of my here, so feel free to suggest anything that you think I should check out. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure your name was Damian. This is Calvin, if you ever see this, I just want to say thank you. Your gesture meant a lot to my family and I. Keep spreading love, Brother.
Please observe these guidelines to keep yourself and everyone here happy.
Thanks!

Why does no one post here? We need more people. /r/niwot is much like Latvia, but instead of lack of potato, there is lack of post. Also is cold
