Broken, bruised, forgotten sore…

I was watching ‘The Walking Dead’ and “Somewhat Damaged” was played. It was on a burned CD dubbed ‘Mix Run’. S5E15, “Try”. Such a great song on a badass episode of this epic series.

This Is Sickening

Got this from interscope official newsletter. Trent need to sell these same shirts at their own store at original price to get back at them. Fck corporate greed, man!

Sunspots is driving me nuts

So we know the 'dyson' bit, which is absolutely one of the best bits of any song, ever, well, it's kinda driving me nuts because every time I hear it I'm reminded of some song that's probably from the 70's, so far I've gone through 900 or so songs from the 70s searching. Nearest I've got is Supernature, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone know wtf I am rambling on about ?

What are your favorite NIN instrumental songs?

I was listening to The Fragile and was so in love with the instrumental tracks on that album, it made me curious to know what some of your guys' fave instrumentals are. Movie scores can also count here too :)

Year Zero Question

Hi r/nin, I remember reading somewhere a long while ago about Year Zero ARG planning where TR told the team about a book that was “required reading” for understanding the concepts of the record. I do not remember the book title and my search skills are not finding the answer…

Does anyone know the book that TR had his ARG creation team read? TIA

This is such a great track. It's like an alien's idea of relaxing music.

What are the more latest NIN songs that you think are just as great as their earlier works?

I've been listening to some EPs and Add Violence's TBW is what caught my attention and is making me repeat it over and over for how it sounds so great, especially loving how it just gets so distorted at the end.

Though their music has become a bit more subdued, I can't deny that they still deliver some incredible tracks like 'Add Violence.' What are your favorite recent songs by NIN?

Want to make music with a similar sound to pretty hate machine

Gear advice? Particularly on the drum machines. Currently working with a Moog werkstatt, ableton, and an akai midi controller.

Song recommandations ??

Hi to all, I’ve just recently gotten into NIN and I’d love songs recommandations. I don’t know much of their songs beside that I love the genre and the vibe. I’m really into “Heresy” so any of their songs that are similar are highly welcomed. Thank you guys

Vinyls

Hey guys is there any recommendations on what vinyl I should get from NIN? It's my first one and I was thinking between The Downward Spiral and Hesitation Mark's, but I wanna see what y'all think I should get.

Censoring "Ass Kisser" from Starfuckers Inc. is the most pointless censorship ever

I was on youtube with the music video on and noticed they blanked that word out.

2006-2009 flash animations of Trent

Anyone remember in the 2006-2009 or so there have been a popular animated series of Trent done in Flash i believe by some dude. They were quite funny. It was poking fun at Trent's obsession with the iPhone Trent being a gym rat for example and many more little episodes. The style was black and white in a crude hand animated style.

Not sure if they can be ever found again but it somebody knows something let me know.

Has The Fragile aged better than Downward Spiral in your opinion?

By being part of this sub I've concluded that The Fragile is the favourite album by far for most people here, myself included. However I recognize that around the time when the albums were released most people thought The Fragile was not as good as TDS, and it wasn't reviewed as well.

I think it's because The Fragile was actually much more forward thinking in its composition than Downward Spiral was - when I listen to Downward Spiral, I can appreciate it as a work that is distinctly part of the 90s; angry, brutal, and misanthropic. But I look at the Fragile as not just a part of the 90s, but something that is of a universal time - it encompasses so many more emotions and its compositions are so much more intricate and holistic.

I wonder if the reason the Fragile was reviewed worse in the 90s when it came out, was because people were just not ready to leave that nihilistic mindset that the mid-90s music scene kickstarted with Downward Spiral - The Fragile was a complete turn-around in regards to style and theme and so utterly separate from the previous record. But that's why I love it.

Thoughts?
