So I have seen other posts of people upgrading ram on a Nexus 7 tablets, and I thought, would it be feasible to also upgrade the ram on the Nexus player, I understand that it's soldered but if I find the right chip, theoretically I could get the ram up to 4 GB maybe even 8 GB but 8 is a bit to much because the CPU would be the bottleneck.
I want to try it but I want to see if anyone has thought about the same thing
Anyone else start getting this error when trying to load up Netflix? Any fixes? I tried everything on their site & it didn't help.
I've been trying to update my apps on the Nexus player but keep getting hit with the pending that never changes, don't know what's wrong tried clearing the cache and data of play store and play store services but no luck does anyone know anything I can do?
I have a Nexus player and a PS4 controller i put the controller on pairing mode and the Nexus player detects it but does not pair, is there anything I can do to get them to pair? Does anyone know if there's any controllers that will pair other than the Asus Gamepad?
I have my Nexus Player up and running again on our old crappy 22" TV for reasons, and just now when I switched on the TV it told me I am getting tabs for navigation and had me configure my streaming services.
It looks like my CCwGTV now, except less tabs across the top of the screen. The tabs are Search, Home, Discover, and Apps.
It's build OPR2.170623.027 if anyone cares. (Hopefully I copied that accurately.) Not sure if that's relevant as I didn't pay attention to what it looked like before that.

and what do you do with it?
I finally gave away my Nexus Player since there's really no future in x86 boxes at all and theres no updates from XDA. My household is using the FireTV 4K for the guest room and living room but in my media room aka office I've switched to the Onn. 4K box from Walmart as a cheap way to stay in the Android TV ecosystem and the best part is that the remote is the best I've ever used for Android TV boxes, save for the Nvidia ShieldTV which costs way more. I really like it and the updates it got fixed the issues people were reporting when it first came out. The performance is much better than I expected for $20 and I can definitely see myself using this device for years to come. For anybody who wants to tinker, there's also XDA devs working on this little box if you want to do more with it.

What have you guys moved on to?
See you at /r/AndroidTV for further discussion of this and other boxes that have a pure Android experience.
So i started using the remote app on my phone and that stopped connecting with it so i tried from another phone to no avail
Anyone know what i can do besides just casting
Does anyone has this issue with Hulu app? It crashes right when I start it, going back to main Nexus Player menu.
I've tried uninstalling, clearing cache, etc.
Any advice you can share?
The AC adapter works, and the remote was working fine. If anyone wants the whole setup for free (for parts/accessories) let me know. I'm in the Seattle area but I can ship it in the US if you want and pay for it.
Like many of you, my Nexus Player has served me faithfully for many years, but recently, it has gotten incredibly slow to the point where the remote is incredibly slow to respond, the interface is laggy, and sometimes even the video stutters a bit. It's these issues and the lack of long-term support from Google which made me look into alternatives. It was any easy choice to jump onto the Chromecast with Google TV because the Netflix bundle made it effectively $6 and after trying it for a few days, it's clearly a worthy replacement.
Pros
Cons
If you're still on the fence about replacing your Nexus Player with the Chromecast with Google TV, I'd say definitely go for it. The bundle is still available too!
Is anyone else having playback problems with the NBA App on Nexus Player. It seems i'm the only one, but after trying a lot of things, the app still plays the streamings with bugs and decoding problems
I think I may have bricked it, but you can get into twrp so maybe theres hope. Its yours if you pay for shipping. I'll even give you my sideclick remote.
Mine's running stock firmware, Android 8.0.1 IIRC. Last used about a year ago.
Is it safe to power it back up, or will Google push an update that bricks it?
I love you little guy, you did good. Time to rest now let the chromecast take it from here.

It is with a heavy heart I bid this sub a heartfelt good bye. You’ve been there through good times and bad. But it’s time to move on. This place will always have a place in my heart.

Has anyone able to successfully run the Movies Anywhere app on Nexus Player? I have installed it to my device, and logged in. However, it will terminate itself a couple seconds after loading up. I am wondering if it's because of the lack of RAM on Nexus Player.
So I'm yet to upgrade my Nexus Player, I'm waiting on the new Google device to be released. One of the main reasons I wanted to upgrade is for Prime Video and today I noticed the Prime Video app was available in the Play store on the Nexus Player and I can confirm it works.
Looks like the old Nexus Player has some life left in it yet.
Ever since google and amazon officially ended their streaming war I've been waiting for prime video to start working on the nexus player but it hasn't ever worked, even when chromecasting from a phone which is supposed to be officially supported by amazon, or as a sideloaded app on the nexus player itself.
But today, I opened the play store on the nexus player, saw the prime video app was listed, clicked install and it played video!
There was an exclusive game on the Nexus player that was kinda an open world pixelated adventure game where you would go and solve these little puzzles that would take you into these big massive really hard boss battles. I remember only being able to get the game on the Nexus player and could not get it on my phone or other devices. I remember it used to be on steam.
I remember one scenario you were walking through a forest similar to Zelda and had to navigate the forest and the right way to lead you to this giant plant monster. (If my descriptions helping)
I remember reading reviews that people compared it to games like dark souls as to how difficult the game was.
Does anyone know the name of this game and, if it can be downloaded to current Android TVs or devices?
I guess being stuck on lockdown I'm just really nostalgic and really looking to pour some time into some games and push the boundaries of my Android TV.
After no updates for maybe 3 years. Interesting...
Hi guys has anyone tried to side load ? And how does it play
Lineage drops support. Maybe now it's time to upgrade to Nvidia Shield of MiBox?

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain.
Definitely happy with the change. I should have gone with the Pro model though for the internal storage and USB connection for external storage. 11/10 glad to be done with my Nexus Player.
