I live at home with my parents. I’m in my mid 20’s. My sister is a couple years older and also still lives at home. Here’s the thing. We live on a river but it is often very shallow. What kind of craft is best for shallow boating? Ideally it could fit me and sis. Related question, if I wanted my sis to paddle my baby tush beat red what works best? I assume this wouldn’t be the same paddle as the water craft…or…?
Quiet Waters New Jersey by Kathy Kenley
Hello community!
I don't do a lot of colder/frostbite boating, but I do it a little bit; here are the particulars:
- Paddling on really shallow (like no more than about 6' -- 9' deep) on protected waters (lakes, not rivers)
- I will also be taking delivery of small sailboat -- in Maine -- around the end of April and I will need to take it out for sea trails. The sea trials will be conducted on a bay (as opposed to the open ocean) and there will most likely be a chase boat.
Considering the above, what do you all recommend: Hydroskin or Drysuit?
Thanks in advance!
A little background I founded NJPaddle.org follow us on Instagram @NJPaddle or find us on Facebook. I also just made /r/NewJerseyPaddle/.
I put out resources all the time, so I’ll keep the Reddit updated as well. We work with a number of NPOs like the Hackensack Riverkeeper and CU Maurice River. We are also an affiliate member of the American Canoe Club (ACA). We hold a number of paddle meets and plan to have some educational classes this year.
