NewJersey Subreddit Rules (Moderator discretion applies)
Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life.
R1: No hate speech or trolling: Racism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, sexism, & hate speech against minority groups, religions, or national origin is prohibited. That goes for language you might have used in other subs.
R2: No reposts, redundant content, or old news. Check the queue first before posting.
R3: No posts for information or requests for illegal products, services, or activities. No unnecessary violent content.
R4: No off-topic posts. Content must be substantially about or unique to New Jersey.
R5: When possible, link to the original article of a news story, and absolutely NOT a partisan re-write to make a political point. No linkjacking.
R6: No links to articles behind hard paywalls (like Wall Street Journal). Soft paywalls are allowed (like NY Times & NorthJersey.com)
R7: Headline & link format: No link shorteners or otherwise obscured links, including posts, text, and comments.
R8: Articles must be submitted as Links, not as a Self-Post.
R9: No ALL CAPS TITLES or inappropriate use of NSFW/Spoiler flairs to get increased visibility. Submissions must in English.
R10: Please, don't post a help/advice question needing a local business without mentioning where you are or how far are you willing to travel, etc. It does no good for us to help you find the nearest shoe repair shop in Atlantic County only to find out later you're in Morris.
R11: No denying, downplaying, or spreading misinformation about COVID 19 or measures to reduce its spread. This includes: vaccines, quarantines, limits on gatherings, mask wearing, contact tracing, and other public health measures. Moderators can and will use personal judgement when enforcing this rule.
And finally...
Don't drive slow in the left/passing lane.
Don't drive with high beams on while passing traffic.
Don't take up more than one spot in a parking lot.
Don't drive with snow and ice on your car.
Don't shift lanes / make a turn without using your turn signal.
What to do:
Be nice, be funny, be informative. Shitposts may be allowed if they make moderators laugh.
Events! What going on in New Jersey? Post it! (But not NYC or Philly; they have their own subs.)
If you're rude, you better be twice as funny.
If you're self-promoting, it better be good.
Report accidents, incidents, and closed roads on Waze.
Any question on rules or other sub issues, please message the moderators.

Google maps says it takes 10minutes walk to reach Main St at Bengen Rd where you take bus158 and ride for 30 stops
Does anyone know how much a round trip of this will cost? Also, reviews says it's not a public transport friendly location (Rite 4 E). I know the time will around 1h 15min each way but been reading online "this is not a friendly transport location"
Is it better off to just find a hotel like 10mins walk from Times Square?
Hi all! On the northbound side of the turnpike around mile marker 16, there is always a beautiful display of Christmas lights. They are usually big orbs in red, yellow, blue, and green. It just pops out of nowhere and is so pretty! Anyone know who is responsible? I assume there’s a building nearby, but can never make it out driving by so fast. It looks like someone decorated the forest haha
The Mrs and I are staying at the Holiday Inn on Route 17 the night of Christmas Eve. We're have a family get together at 2 on Christmas day, but I'm probably going to be starving by then. Does anyone know if the Candlewyck or Meadowlands diner or anything else is open for breakfast on Christmas day? Perhaps a local bagel shop? I know the Bagel Store on Hackensack st is closed on Christmas. We would settle for something from a convenience store if it comes to that. I'd just like you're have a nicer breakfast if possible.
Anyone else encounter more crazy drivers like MA plate “4AFX 96”. Scary aggressive Mercedes. Line #77 didn’t pick up…
Something about these counties just fascinates me. Idk if it’s because they’re much more rural than what I’m used to, but everything just feels so different. Let’s start a convo and everyone share their opinions and experiences. What do you find interesting? What do you like/dislike?
RWJBH is hiring and offering a $10,000 sign on bonus!
I will send the complete ad to whoever is interested.
Good luck 💪🏾
So I am curious what is the most "hillbilly" or out there towns in these counties?
Driving on the highway, got a small chip/ ding on our car windshield from a flying rock from a dump truck. I've used Safelite before. Called them the next day and was able to get someone to come to the house to do their 15 minute repair within a day or two.
I understand the repair doesn't always look perfect, and I'm told it's not cosmetic- it just stops the potential for spreading. Yeah, I get it, but the repair was not done properly. It looks like NOTHING was fixed. The tech took pictures after she completed the work and so did I, it looked ok at the time. But..the next day the round mark was back to the original size!
The answer from Safelite customer service is "don't worry we offer a satisfaction guarantee". We can put the money from the repair towards a new windshield! Great
A new windshield will be at least $1,300 ! Not looking to spend that kind of money.
Service says they cannot do another repair once it's fixed. Really? Why not if it isn’t repaired correctly?
The crappy glue fix was $77 and paid by my insurance.
I went on Safelite chat and was able to get someone to come out to do a "recheck". Jordan came out, told us "I'm not doing anything, it's fixed" then left. He was here about one minute. I got a text saying my appointment was canceled and nothing else. The tech that initially "fixed" it took pictures, I took pictures So why didn't he bother to look? This is terrible customer service!
So now if I want it fixed, I'll have to pay out of pocket. My solution is they should reverse the charge to our car insurance so I can go get it done right elsewhere. They don't care, and all I get is the same robotic answers.
Don't use Freehold NJ Safelite! Use a local auto glass repair service that will care about a proper repair.
Lawsuit after car repoed NJ
A family member defaulted on a car loan on July 2019 in Kentucky. Car was repoed October 2019 and auctioned off in October 2019. They are now being sued for remaining balance of loan in Camden County, NJ courts. What is the best way to handle this? I thought there was a statute of 4 years. Thanks!
On the mail it says philisburg NJ but this location is all the way up and says harmony as well. It’s so confusing. I do have 3 kids and currently I homeschool but want to put my kids back in school so I can work. I already saw to stay far away from Philisburg nj. We are in Union county currently. My dream is Sussex county. No luck yet. We are still looking.. what are your thoughts?
I have a few tickets available to see TSO at the Prudential Center for the 3pm show tomorrow 12/20. Send me a chat if interested
Please let me know if I'm missing any.
Hi everyone! I’m looking for an affordable hair salon/stylist in the area that knows how to work with wavy-curly hair (2b-3a texture) and has experience with bleaching and vivid dyed hair. I’ve been bleaching and dyeing my hair at home for a while but I’m sick of staining my bathtub blue, but dropping 400+ dollars on some blue hair feels crazy so I need advice. Ideally, I’d love a place that’s good with both color and curly/wavy textures while remaining in the 100$-300$ range if possible. Any recommendations would be super appreciated!
The NJEDA has a number of grants for retail small business. Of course, there would be some paperwork and some pre-requisites. But if you meet the conditions you are not competing to be among the first few to apply.
There is also this new Main Street Acquisition support grant where you can get up to $50K of closing costs when you buy a property that is used for business purposes.
Scary scary day.
Today was very eventful day and I'm going to keep this short.
Decided to bite the bullet and get a "regular" car insurance with state minimum coverage so I can get the registration restored. Realized I don't want to be without insurance or registration. If something were to happen, I can't risk my car taken away from me. Once I get a replacement medicaid card, I'll apply for the SAIP and cancel this one.
Well, that's it for the day.
I've been watching 1st amendment auditors and police footage for years but nothing infuriated me as much as this video. Driving 103MPH and just cause your dad is a cop you get away with it?
Another guy cause he's a retired trooper he can talegate, pass on grass and speed etc?
What a joke law enforcement is in NJ. I kept watching videos and saying eh it's not my state I can't do anything but this really hits home.
I think the only way for real accountability is we need to modernize the citizen's arrest statutes where regular citizens can arrest law enforcement officers on the spot if they commit a crime such as putting their hands on someone if they aren't arresting/detaining them, first amendment retaliation such as writing more tickets cause they "mouthed off", which is a federal crime by the way (deprivation of rights). Abuse of discretion such as in these videos.
For anyone that ever gets a ticket in NJ please OPRA request all bodycam/vehicle cam footage of that officer and charge the officer with reckless/careless driving or any other crimes you see them commit. You may need to go to the magistrate or whatever the process is. Go to their department and 1st amendment audit the officer, check their personal vehicle for any illegal affects in Plainview, any tints, license plate missing or illegal covers, call them out on their hypocrisy.
our water smells like turpentine. super weird, the water company says no boiling necessary and says it’s okay to drink, but this is a new one for me. People across multiple towns are saying the water looks discolored and strongly smells like chemicals… personally i’m not drinking it.
