Bought it with cheats installed but can’t get any to work. Please help
I have a modded NES Mini that I’ve had for years, no issues. Now, I’m running into a controller configuration error for any system that requires more than 2 buttons. The games start up but the controller doesn’t work. I think my kids may have messed up the controller mapping/configuration in the RA main screen. But, I also can no longer access the RA main screen by holding select/start. Lost touch with the guy I got it from. Anyone run into this before? Any ideas on how to fix?
So as I'm sure many of you know, the game genie works by changing a single byte in a rom. Knowing that you can open the game you want to put a code into in an emulator like fceux, open the game genie code decoder tool, put the code you want in there and manually change the byte the code would. You do have to make and put in a second rom that has the change, but it's a way to put a code into a game.
Title.
Hey all, so back in 2018 when I got my NES and SNES classic editions, I hacked it to get more games on it. It went totally fine, but I have an issue.
I can't remember what program I used, and also, no longer have the original files from the hack.
I remember making a backup for the systems, but that was lost when my hard drive on that PC died.
I have a new PC now, and was thinking about adding some more games to the system, but don't know how, or even if I should.
I'm really trying to think, and I think the program may have been called Hackchi? Does this sound right?
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi there!
Years ago 2021 I believe, I modded my NES and SNES classic. Judging by the files in my folder, I used a hakchi2. i see Hakchi2 is no on version 3.9.3 and was updated on march 2022
I added like 100 games to my NES mini/classic and also to my SNES mini. At this point, my daughters and I have saves and save states on all the games and i don't want to accidentally delete them all. The entire reason I bought the classics was because the batteries in my cartridges were all going and no longer holding saves
But I am wondering if it is possible to add additional games now without compromising their saves and such. Or will dumping the kernel mean all games start from scratch? Also, because I used an older version of Hakchi from 2021 before the new 2022 update came out, does that have any affect on later compatibility?
I am also wondering about the ability to add game boy, Sega and Sega genesis to these systems.
I kinda want to add Link's awakening, Final Fantasy legend 2, and some Sega + Sega genesis games. i see possibilities with adding this stuff. but again, Afraid to nuke all saves and saves states on hundreds of games lol
If its too Risky, i can always buy a new SNES Classic and just load them up. I see them for $30 on Amazon lol.
but i figured I would ask here first.
thank you in Advance
So, I modded my NES classic to also have SNES classic loaded, able to swap between the systems. This was years and years ago and I no longer remember anything I did aside from loading some extra games.
Finally hooked up the old mini for the first time in years and I was trying out Super Metroid. While I was experimenting with and relearning the controls (using and old SNES controller via adapter), I found I could no longer shoot. L and R still aimed up and down. Directionals still worked. Select and Start still seemed to work, but the B button was not behaving like the A button, the Y like the B, and now X does nothing and I have no idea why.
I tried going to the controls in game and remapping but when I hit B it registers the button as A. I cannot find any settings in the system or game to fix this and randomly mashing buttons hasn't solved it either. I have no idea what happened. Resetting didnt fix it, unplugging and replugging in the controller didn't help, even turning it of and back on again didn't reset my buttons. |
Does anyone know what ight have happened or how to fix it? Even the Factory Reset option didnt fix it. I'm starting to think I messed up my SNES Controller somehow.
Can’t wait to install and share finished pics r/retroconsolemods
am seeing a bizarre occurrence where Hakchi recognises that I have added and removed games from the list and I've made the necessary adjustments with the folders, etc. But upon switching the Mini SNES on, these changes aren't being recognised. The games I added aren't showing, and the games I deleted are still showing! Any idea what could be causing this problem?
Been playing FF3 on my modded wii for past few months. Been using Snes classic controller as it fits best with the actual game and the newer controller joysticks don't move well in the game. Just randomly the A button would stick or not work off and on but today the snes controllers do not register AT ALL. I am assuming it is the hyperkin adapter failing? Anybody ever had this happen before? Thanks
How to add game genie cheats to games on mini nes ?
Hi all, I've just started playing some old DOS games and I'm trying to find out how to turn of two button firing in Commander Keen. Can anyone explain how to do it like I'm a 3 year old? I've got a Wii Classic Pro Controller . Thanks
I'm wondering if it's possible to use the nes Zapper on the classic NES and SNES? Like is there an adaptor I could use to connect the nes Zapper and play light gun games on my CRT tv? Or is it not possible using emulated games? Is my best bet to get an N8 from AliExpress or something and play light gun games using the original hardware?
Thanks
I just bought a Retro Zone PowerPak Flash Cartridge from EBay for speed running Super Mario Bros. It came in today, but I just realized that I don’t have a USB to CF card adapter. I decided to see if the previous owner had any games on it. I slid in an SMB3 cartridge and it worked perfectly fine. I then slid in the PowerPak and the screen went orange and then back to static.
The seller was ziri_22 and he/she’s a very reasonable seller who has a lot of good ratings and sells a lot of old/rare video game stuff. If you’re ever looking for old/rare video game stuff, go check them out.
All that being said, I have no doubt that this is authentic. I’m just confused. Please help!
Installed Hakchi 3.9.3 with no mods outside a bunch of roms. Seems to come up quite a bit with a "shutting down" message. Sometimes right away, sometimes after a while. Using the NES power brick transformer. Thoughts on what to look for or how to address this?
Hey there, I was trying to get rbi base ball running on the nes classic with retroarch ozone but I just keep getting a grey screen. Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks
Basically I keep both the NES and the SNES Mini both modded and I soldered a microSD reader into the SD card, and I put 32 GB of memory on both.
Except that at the nes mini, a little while ago, I finished filling it completely with various cover systems and other things and I keep hakchi saved on my pc which contains everything on the nes mini.
I was wondering how to "clone" all the work I did on the nes mini onto the snes mini which only has the fullset of snes roms.
What step should I take without making a mess or losing everything?
Basically I would like to do a sort of identical cloning, I hope I have explained myself well.
Thank you for your attention.
For what I am attempting to do,
I'll use Castlevania III as an example, when entering the swamp area there is a tree displayed right in front of you, HOWEVER there is an error in the tile layout.
As you can see the original displays the wrong tile here; it's displaying TILE 90 and 91 - when it should be displaying 4A and 4B...
**I made the above EDITED image by using FCEUx then editing these values in the PPU - BUT I CANNOT FIND - were to change these values in the ROM? As when I switch to ROM (from PPU view in the hex editor) the data there doesn't seem to match/make sense with the actual TILE data.
I'd like help figuring this out
Here's what it looks like, as you'll note just changing the TILE from 90 to 4A leaves the palette block the same (which is the blues from the background) so also being able to edit which palette block this tile is assigned to in the ROM would be equally important, so I can save the ROM with the corrected tiles.
Swapping TILE 91 to 4A still uses palette 3F0C where in ROM do I set this tile to use 3F08
Please note: I am able to edit the colors in each palette block - but if you change the "blues" block (02 11 21) so the swapped tile now matches the tree (color 08 29 17) - then all the other tiles set to use the blues palette will also be the tree color. So I need to just change which palette block this tile uses as the tree color is already stored in the pal block next to the blues one.
Here is the tile next to it - which uses the palette block the swapped tile should also use
The game DOES load the \"missing\" tiles in as 4A / 4B (& uses the correct pal block)
Any help on where to edit this data in the "Debug/HEX Editor/View ROM" section would be greatly appreciated!!
I have been browsing NES/SNES sub reddits for compatible wireless Controllers for my NES Classic.
I also have the SNES classic and have been using 8Bitdo Sn30 2.4G Wireless Controller & I discovered it also works on NES Classic.
I read somewhere about a mod to change out the internal board of the NES classic to accommodate any wireless controller. Is this possible? I would love to use a 8bitdo controller with sticks vs the D-Pad.
