Good Bye and Good Luck!

With all the subs closing in solidarity due to the changes in the Reddit API pricing, we've taken this opportunity to re-evaluate the need for r/Need.

Our original reason for existing was to provide a better vetted forum for potential donors to have some faith that they were not being scammed by grifters, and that the mods would never intervene to promote any user's post as to vouch for their authenticity, nor would the mods engage in conflicts of interest by making requests of their own.

With that original subreddit being managed by better hands, now is simply a good time to say good bye and good luck to all who have used our subreddit.

The subreddit will operate in restricted mode for historical reference.

Be well!

--- The mods of r/Need.

[Req] Can't work

I will not hide the fact that I have recieved help in the past from other reddits. Having said that, I am in trouble. I have recently begun to get back on my feet and have myself a pretty decent lawn business. I live in one of the states that have been effected by the air quality problems and can't work right now. I need food help to get through the next week or two. I have made an Amazon wish list to that end. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/253GES70V6YXT?ref_=wl_share

[REQUEST] Need Help With Gas For Job

Hello. I have been searching for employment and was recently given a job offer, but before I can start working they require fingerprinting and a physical exam. My only problem is that the two places to get these are all the way across town and I don’t have gas to get there. I’ve estimated about $50 in gas with the current prices in my area would get me to and back from these places. If you can help me with this, I have Paypal, Venmo, and Cash App. Thank you in advance.

Also posted on r/care. I will mark if it is fulfilled on either subreddit.

[REQUEST] Need help to make it to next week

I loathe being in this situation, yet I've exhausted every option. I was recently diagnosed with a hernia that needs operating on ASAP as well as non-epileptic siezures, and the rides to the hospital have eaten through what I put aside for emergencies.

My mother is disabled and the hospital is too far for me to walk there safely. All help is deeply appreciated. I'm just one guy trying to get done with these visits so I can get this dealt with and recovered enough to get back to helping my mom with less struggle. Again, I appreciate it.

$150 would get me to all my appointments with enough left over in case I need an extra ride or a hospital stay runs in to night-time. I was stranded until 4 in the morning last time and I don't want to go through that ever again. I have Paypal and Venmo. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Keep being awesome.

[REQUEST] I need $50 to cover my M-Power bill (to keep the lights on) and $50 for gas, so I can go to work tomorrow. Anything is appreciated.

Please help. I’ve tried getting assistance elsewhere to no avail. I’m just trying to keep the lights on and put gas in the tank. It’ll hold me over until Friday. Thank you.

[Request] I need help making my car payment this month

I’m not sure how much background is necessary but basically, I am a stay at home mom 90% of the time. I work two days a week, to pay for food, gas, and my own expenses, and my husband pays our mortgage and utilities. Normally I make just enough to cover my expenses but I was sick last week, so not only did I stay home because I was ill, my husband stayed home to watch our daughter. So now I have all these bills I’m short on, some of which overdrafted me, so I’m very stressed. If anyone could help even with like 20 dollars to go towards this I would be so grateful and can show you my loan balance and the unpaid balance.

TL;DR: My car payment is 240.81 and I cannot afford it this month

Edit: I saw including my location would be helpful! I am in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

[Request] Just looking for help getting my electric supply back on.

I just need £50 to put on the electric metre and restart my supply as it's been off for a few weeks now and racking up debt.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I've posted for help a few times now but unfortunately just been inundated with scammers in my inbox, so I'm hoping for some better luck this time around.

[REQ] I took out a payday loan not understanding the consequences.

I took out a small payday loan and have been bleeding money in the months following. I still owe 210 dollars between the 24th of this month and the 24th of next month but I simply don't have it. I have 44 physical bills still saved, but I'd be eternally grateful to anyone who could lend me the other 160, or even just 100 to get me through this month.

I don't know what to say really. I fucked up super hard. Advice and assistance finding a job would also be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Welp, I'm about to be boned. Nice knowing you, lads. Take care of yourselves and live your best.

[REQ] Going through a very rough time in between jobs, would appreciate any help

I recently lost my job due to car trouble and transportation issues, in the meantime I've been looking into and applying to closer places where getting there wouldn't be an issue until I can get back on my feet and get around easier again. Some of the prospects look good but I am still waiting.

$20 or anything someone could spare for some food and possibly an uber ride if I need one this week would help immensely if anyone can spare it . I can give cashapp or paypal if requested. Thank you

[REQ] Please help ill mother/daughter and cat not be made car homeless today

We were living car homeless but have been hit with car troubles — have been TEMPORARILY living in a hotel while trying desperately to get that solved. I have bird flu RN (on top of undiagnosed autoimmune issue) and my mother has been on chemotherapy.

The hotel manager needs his money immediately (within hours) or we will be thrown out with all of our belongings on the street outside. With no car and nowhere to go.

#@mgmymr
on paypal and venmo

We are seriously desperate and anything helps.

[REQUEST] Need help after leaving my abusive ex-husband!

So I was married to my ex for 13 years, finally got the courage and strength to leave him. The window I had to get out safely was extremely small so I could only take the clothes on my back. I'm at my dad's now but he's living off of social security and barely has enough to get by. For example he's using dissolved bars of soap for laundry detergent right now.

I plan on applying for disability since the years of abuse have exasperated my existing mental health issues. Some of the things listed on my wishlist aren't necessities, such as makeup, but I put some since I left absolutely everything.

Thank you in advance to anyone for any assistance or for referrals to programs/foundations that can help in situations like mine.

[REQ] Please help

Hello, I am a college student studying to get my degree in Web Development. I currently work 35 hrs a week at Chipotle, but I make around 650 after taxes come out. I'm currently trying to get a second job to help make ends meet. I do live at home with my mom (who is a single parent) and my little sister who is in middle school. For the last few months, we have been STRUGGLING to make ends meet. See, my mom was an Uber driver and that is how she made her money. Unfortunately, I got in a car accident driving her car (which was our only car and her source of income) and it was completely totaled. She tried to get another one, but because I wasn't listed as a driver on her insurance, her insurance went from 120 a month to 700 a month and her car note was 750 a month and we simply couldn't afford to keep the replacement car. My mom was out of a job and finally got hired at Target which is about 20 minutes walking distance (I have to Uber to work, which ends up being about 250 a week), but now that the holidays are over her hours went from 40 a week to 15 a week. We've almost been evicted twice now, but if we don't make the rent this time we will be on the streets. Our rent is 1828 a month and I only have 400 saved. The little money my mom makes from work goes towards food, when we run out of food stamp money. I'm just asking if anyone can help us get through this month. Anything will help. I'm trying to get a second job to help out more. My mom wants another job, but she can't get anything too physical because she has a really bad shoulder that brings her so much pain that's why she did Uber. With my second job, I'm going to try and save up to get her a cheap car from like Facebook Marketplace that way she won't have to deal with a car note and a car insurance, because she really needs a car. It's how she made her money, but now we're in a really rough patch. We don't have family we can borrow from or anything. If anyone could help in the slightest way, it would be greatly appreciated. Our rent is due March 3rd at the latest.

[REQ] Need some help with my rent

Good morning! I hope everyone slept well last night. I seem to be in a bit of a bind financially. The good news is that i’m working and seeking full time employment as we speak. The bad news is that i’ve been doing temp/ gig work in the meanwhile and it’s been abnormally slow lately. I only worked one day so far. I’m behind on rent but i can stay afloat with 250.00. I’ve exhausted every resources available( including the Bank of Dad) and i don’t meet the criteria for local programs because i’m not a veteran, disabled, have children, etc).

I know times are tough and inflation is doing a number on a lot of people’s budgets but I’m trying to unlearn the bad habit of not asking for help when i really need it, so i figure why not start with asking for something that i need for my own peace of mind. Can provide proof if needed. Thanks for taking the time to read my request. Hopefully i get back the good karma i’ve been putting out over the years :)
